Think this horse will get beat on Saturday

Although 6f suits the horse better than 5f ... I still think he IS TOO SKINNY at 2/1

- Murtagh not on the horse - he knows him better than anyone else
- Sprint Cup record for July Cup winners is not as good as the records with Nunthorpe and Maurice De gueest
- Nunthorpe race this year is a bit suspect as a 100/1 no hoper won, with Equiano and Kingsgate Native drawn lower may be a race to ignore, as expect these two to come back a lot stronger
-SSB drawan on the right side but still could not draw back the 100/1 shot - bit suprised...

feel this horse is decent G1 standard... but feel he had a had race last time... and this may come to soon

Does anyone agree that SSB is worth laying?

A case for and against.

Put a line through the Nunthorpe. 5f at York was just too quick, as it is for many 6f sprinters. Most years pundits and punters make this mistake.

He looks a straightforward ride so the loss of Murtagh probably not crucial.

Haydock often a test of stamina and handling soft going, which is the reason July Cup winners sometimes flop. Not the case this year.

This just pays a big compliment to Mr Van Winkle

I would much rather be a layer of Regal Parade at his current joke of a price though..

I feel despite all the negatives you list his class will get him through with something to spare..

He'll win Happy

He might not win but if he doesn't it'll be because he's had an off-day or something else has gone wrong.

I'd agree that laying Regal Parade at current odds is a far better bet.

A lay for me also. I have him running very close to a stone below his best at York last time. I can't accept that it was just down to the 5f being too sharp for him, I believe he was simply not at his best. Of course he could bounce back to form tomorrow, but at the price on offer I'm prepared to risk that he's past his best for the moment.
