Who are the real speedsters in the 2yo division this year and are there any hidden gems in your opinions? I love the sprinters and cant wait to see the entries for the flying childers come out later this week. Two of my favourites this year are Zebedee and Dinkum Diamond. New Planet is another to keep an eye on.

Chinese Wall (trained by Didier Guillemin) is a very fast juvenile filly.  She won a Listed race at Deauville on 18 August by 3 lengths and had a lot left in the tank.  She was produced about 2f out and showed a remarkable turn of foot.  Back in third was Dingle View, who went on to beat Glor Na Mara at the Curragh next time.  On her first start at Maisons-Laffitte, Chinese Wall won the Prix Épinard, beating Broox, who went on to finish second in the Prix Robert Papin (Gr.2).  The third placed horse on that occasion, Maiguri, went on to win the Prix Roland de Chambure (L), while fourth placed Miss Liberty followed up with a win in the Prix la Flèche (L).  I'm a bit surprised that Chinese Wall has not been entered for the Prix de l'Abbaye.  The six juveniles entered for the Abbaye are: Choose Wisely, Dinkum Diamond, New Planet, Boccalino (runner-up to Chinese Wall last time), Magic Potion, Meow.

Given quick ground Marlinkais a quick filly. She won a 5f Listed race in Vichy on 21 July in a good time and I believe Ioritz Mendizabal, the jockey, was impressed with her speed.

What happened to Chinese Wall in her race?
Report jamesp September 2, 2010 3:35 PM BST
Chinese Wall was favourite for that listed race at Vichy behind Marlinka but only finished fourth.  According to trainer Didier Guillemin, "she had had too long a break and was too fresh".  The runner-up at Vichy, Boccalino, was beaten three lengths by Chinese Wall next time at Deauville (a turnaround in form of 5½ lengths).

Plenty of speedsters among the 17 entries for the Flying Childers:
Arctic Feeling, Bathwick Bear, Black Moth, Broox, Cocktail Charlie, Dinkum Diamond, Electric Waves, Face The Problem, Keratiya, Ladie's Choice, Marlinka, Meow, New Planet, Roman Dancer, Sir Reginald, The Thrill Is Gone, Zebedee

Keratiya was a bit disappointing last time in the Prix Morny but may be worth another chance back over the minimum trip.

Interesting that Ryan Moore takes the mount on New Planet in the Childers. Can't have had that many rides for John Quinn.
