think they might send him to the KG without a prep race athis year, he may not have to many miles left on the clock but i think 9/4 about him for the KG is a fair price.

Think they may want to get a race into him first - his seasonal debut is usually a bit iffy. Remember Nicholls last season saying there was still plenty to work on both before and after his first race.

Down royal on november 6th he will make reapearance, then KG then GC... plan appartently

4 months today. can't wait

Hope Sizing goes for this, a revamped Cooldine, throw in Long Run and Punches and it could be a hell of a race!
Report allyoucaneat August 26, 2010 11:52 AM BST
yes it should be, but if kauto retains his ability then they wont see which way he went. once he turns up he will be odds on to win so 9/4 right now is nice imo.

sizing??
2 miler aint he??
Report allyoucaneat August 26, 2010 12:18 PM BST
yeah cant see him stepping up to 3m.
Report buddeliea August 26, 2010 12:27 PM BST
No way, must be being trained for QM,And surely that dont include a 3m race??
Report Reyes August 26, 2010 12:38 PM BST
HdeB mentioned this week a step up in trip is on the cards. (it's on SL site somewhere). has won over 2m4f, think 3m would suit him.
Report buddeliea August 26, 2010 12:51 PM BST
Really, well maybe he dont want the QM-Find that strange myself.
Report toffeeboy August 26, 2010 1:22 PM BST
The Blue Eiderdown won this race did he not?  He was a 2 miler.
Report rogerthebutler August 26, 2010 2:13 PM BST
They tried the same thing with Flagship Uberalles - I think he's still running now.
Report Graeme83 August 26, 2010 2:19 PM BST
Nah he would have to have a prep first before the KG. If they have to be a little more delicate because of his age then sending him straight to a tough race wouldn't make any sense. It's gonnae be good see Kauto take the course again. He's an entertainer.

Azertyuiop too.
Report Mr Eboue August 26, 2010 7:05 PM BST
Native upmanship aswell. Although he was a 2m4f horse. He would have won 4 ryanair chases if that race was around.
Report CVByrne August 26, 2010 9:00 PM BST
Kauto was a 2 miler too you know, he's done alright since he stepped up in trip. Sizing might get the trip he is a galloper.

Kauto will go Down Royal -> King George -> Gold Cup -> Deserved Retirement.

Given his age and history of injuries, if connections think Sizing Europe might benefit from a step up in trip, you can see the sense in doing it this season rather than leaving it another year. Can't be certain he would get three miles in top company, of course, but nothing I have seen of him so far makes me think strongly that trying him beyond the minimum trip would be futile.
Report buddeliea August 27, 2010 7:58 AM BST
I aint arguing whether he will get the trip. The point i am making is if you have a 2 miler and want to train for the QM,then you dont run him in the King George. If they want to step up in distance and train him that way fair enough.
Report aka August 27, 2010 11:00 AM BST
I think the plan is possibly to try Sizing Europe over a longer trip in a lesser race in Ireland early season and see how he goes. They would have to make a decision after that about which route he takes for the rest of the season and match up his training accordingly.

I haven't heard any mention of aiming him at the King George specifically. It may be more that connections would be pleased to aim at some of the decent prizes in Ireland over the winter in 22-24f chases.
