I'm not convinced he will win another race. Obviously he has been an absolute superstar but he was starting to look like an old heavyweight who has had a few too many fights last season.

Ran very well in the Gold Cup but I wasn't convinced it was the strongest renewal.

I really can't see him winning the National. He will have to give so much weight to other very good horses who will enter as a result of the weights going up. For example horses that may have been aimed at the Gold Cup will be aimed at the National if Denman runs.

phil smith will give him low weight,he wont run in gold cup as they will accept hes no chance - theres only the national left for him.

Why wouldn't he win another race, ran a blinder in the Gold Cup, and if he hadn't tried to jump into the car park at Punchestown he would have routed them - am I missing something ?

agreed bobby horse still retains more than enough ability to win more races and be a major force in the big races this season

Course he will. Like BD says, ran a cracker in the GC. 24 lengths ahead of Cooldine is not a 'finished horse'. You can completley put a line through his last run. Will obviously never go right-handed again.

He should run in the Lexus

betfair chase and the lexus look like races he could win, wouldnt put him back in a hennessy gold cup again his marks to high for him now and betfair chase may look easier from a form prospective with imperial commander generally neeeding his first run and Denman performances first time up at very impressive.

Imperial Commander's 1st time record - 1112. Whilst we are training him differently and he will be nowhere near the wire he will be more than fit enough to do himself justice at Haydock, all being well in his preparation (please god). He has never been better at this stage of the season for sure.

bobby dazzler will you have him like you did last year? just neeeding the run a bit but enuff to run to 170-175?

iv read your posts but never commented in them, you have a smashing horse on your hands and wish you good luck for the season.

with thanks

He will be fitter than last year, he travelled across in the same box as the 2-y-o filly of Stan Moores who was found to have strangles. Consequently he was in quarantine for 2 weeks at Nigels and only had 6 weeks before the Haydock race instead of the intended eight. (Little known fact - but maybe now you can understand NTDs reaction to Nicholls after race views). But we are only interested in one race so he will only be primed to maximum fitness for the Gold Cup. Never had him in this sort of condition pre-season though, he is in fantastic order and even though he is 9 seems to have improved a bit. That maybe due to the fact that we are finally getting to the bottom of his physical issues and have learned to manage them - or just the fact that he hasn't got many miles on the clock. But so far so good.

ran an absolute monster of a race in Ireland imo. Losing tons of ground at every fence and practically running off the track I place layed it and expected an easy time but he had me sweating until the last fence.

Agreed okthen - if he had run straight he would have won by a distance

Think Nicholls will dodge Imperial Commander with Kauto as he won't want him beat and he won't want him fully wound up to win so early in the season, he will sacrifice Denman giving Kauto an easier race in the Lexus when it obviously suits Denman the most.

Man you are like a broken record eric, the most ante Kauto poster on these forums. Why would Nicholls avoid Imperial Commander when Kauto beat him twice last year?

I think he should skip Haydock as Kauto doesn't like that track and go to Down Royal before Kempton and Cheltenham.

Denman should go to Haydock then the Lexus then Cheltenham.

He most certainly will win another race but not a grade 1 over 3 miles unless its bottomless ground. thats why connections will prob go for the grand national i reckon. To be honest the troytown chase in Navan Ireland looks an ideal stating point for the horse, rumours are that he may very well take his chance in this race in navan in november.

cant see this horse being enterd in the gruelling grand national if he does barber an nicholls need there head read the horse is more than capable over 3miles but to put him in the national will be suicide imo extra trip an fences this horse doesnt deserve that after the problems hes had

eric are you suggesting Kauto will run in the lexus instead of the KingGeorge to avoid Imperial Commander?, on all known form Kauto would destroy IC at Kempton.

That's interesting BD. thanks.

As for Denman, of course he can win again, unless he has declined appreciably over the summer, but I doubt it. Even if he is not up to G1 standard anymore , there are some G2's he could take quite easily, imo. The AON being one of them.

The only person who ever seriously suggested the National was Harry. Now he's out of the picture, I don't see Barber and Nicholls ever mentioning it again. They were never interested in running the horse in the GN and always played it down.

Why would he not win a Grade 1 over 3 miles, unless either Kauto or IC turn up what is likely to beat him ?

Surely the National is a long shot now that Barber is sole owner - hates the races doesnt he?

The Haydock race should suit him if its soft
