I really liked the manner in which the Robert Collet-trained filly Wizz Kid won the Prix Yacowlef (the race in which Special Duty made her debut last year) at Deauville on 1st July. There was a lot of talk about her beforehand, she had been working well, and she ended up an impressive winner (despite seeming caught for speed early on). Tomorrow's Gr.2 Prix Robert Papin does not look the most competitive of renewals and although Wizz Kid will be better suited by 6f+ later on I think she may just have the class to win over 5½f. I was expecting her to be favourite for the race so was surprised I was able to get 5/2 and 11/4 on here.
Her breeding suggests that she should eventually get 6-7f but is unlikely to get a mile. She is by Whipper out of Lidanski, a 6½f winner (and Listed-placed over 6f) and half-sister to the useful 7f winner Yaa Wayl. The grand-dam Lidanna was a Gr.3 winning sprinter. Looking further ahead, she holds an entry for the Cheveley Park Stakes.
Hi James. Yes it was an impressive run FTO, and you'd have to think she'd improve for the experience which would make her quite tough to beat today. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Irish Field turned out to be her main danger despite getting beaten in a Gp3 LTO, in which case I'd be disappointed if Wizz Kid didn't win this. Hopefully track Irish Field and swoop by final furlong.
Given the trainer's history of using this route, together with the fillies record in the race (can't be a bad thing!), I also thought she would be a clear favourite, so 11/4 would be nice! :) Good luck.

No excuses. She wasn't unfancied (was sent off 2nd favourite on the PMU) but appeared to have her limitations exposed, finishing 4th. She appears to be nothing special.

Based on the pre-race Racing Post ratings for today's race:
Approve (107?/93) Ascot form head and shoulders above other form. Dubious to repeat. Irish Field (103P) Improved 80>93>103 race to race & solid chance in regard to other runners today. Wizz Kid (98+;)adjusted to include 3lb allowance Tin Horse (96) won in slow time LTO, questionable form Broox (93) Three wins but ran to same RPR each time, no improvement shown Split Trois (89) adjusted to include 3lb allowance
I would say with Approve once again failing to run to the Ascot form (107), Irish Field has only had to run nr to his 103 mark LTO to win this comf, with the others running mid>high 90s. Wizz Kid didnt seem to progress from her first run at all. I noted the trainers comments that she is not very big in the Racing Post today, so I wouldnt necessarily expect her to improve much as the season goes on either.
