Not rocket science I know but I make it between Total Gallery, Borderlescott, Equiano and Kingsgate Native. Total Gallery has a big penalty, Borderlescott gets beaten a lot but has a major chance, Equiano has a new lease on life but I haven't backed it this year so won't start now and Kingsgate Native is being readied for Ascot with Stoute's horses not exactly buzzing. My bet is Kingsgate Native and if he gets beat I can go on a recovery mission at Ascot and Borderlescott who should beat Equiano this time.

Continued as submitted too soon. And I wouldn't dismiss Total Gallery out of hand with his penalty. He is Group 1 material and if the price is right, with him only having an easy behind Equiano last time, I may well make him my banker with savers on the other two. It's all about price.

Surely TG will be better of at Ascot where he will be of level weights!? Not saying he won't be trying, but this has got to be more of a final sharpener than a target?

Am I missing something? Equiano beat half of these last time and still had something up his sleeve and yet he's trading at 9/2 when he was 5/1 last time. Surely the price should be about 2/1?

won last time out over a mile (although I haven't actually watched it)
close form with Dar Re Mi (maybe a bit unlucky not to beat her?) would suggest she's right up there amongst the top older horses. would want to avoid meeting a monster 3 year old like last season though.
is she coming over for it then trev?

seems rejuvinated this season with 2 wins under his belt.

Far too trappy for me this race. Benbaun ran a cracker last week, Borderlescott and Total Gallery should improve for their last run, the latter definitely will and the former only needs to find a length with Equiano (has to be respected setting this season's standard) and then you have Kingsgate Native who on his day is the best horse in the race. Only one I don't like is Blue Jack, so there's your winner ;)

I think Borderlescott seems to win races in July although trainer said he has come along a lot more forward this year. Touched off by a neck last year though.
Kingsgate always need the run... I think he is the best horse in the race, but his aim will be either the King Stand or Golden Jubilee, so will avoid him now
Total Gallery - although GRp1 performer has 4lb extra to carry, but expect him to improve from his last run
Of the others
Look Busy is interesting won the race last year same weight allowance.. giving 10lb to Total Gallery must be a solid ew with the allowance.
Wi Dud was 33/1 last year head behind Borderlescott can suprise
The one I like though as before
EQUIANO solid.

Wi Dud would be a bet for me if Spencer was back on. Might still have a little each way if I can get 33/40 on the day. Capable of running a big race on his day and impressed me first time out this season. Nice bit of overwatered ground will suit him as well. Hope Holland doesn't try and make all though, needs to be held up.
Guarenteed strong pace here and Benbaun being in the line up could make it hard for Equiano to dictate, they could well ruin each others chances and set it up for something else. Kingsgate Native generally needs his first run and Reverance isn't good enough (anymore). Look Busy probably isn't good enough either, on decent ground, and could be outpaced, will be staying on but likely to find a couple too good. Spin Cycle was put in his place by some of this lot last time and should be again. Blue Jack seems much better for Tom Dascombe but the price is a bit tight on what he's actually achieved. Borderlesscott will be there as always but will probably find one too good on the day. Total Gallery the best horse in the race and wasn't given a great ride by Murtagh lto imo, travelled best that day though and maybe needed the run. This won't be his main target this season and still has the penalty but the most interesting of the horses towards the front of the market for me.
Not sure if I'll have a bet but if I do it will bet TG or Wi Dud.
GL

Funny you should say the Benjy, the comment that Look Busy got from last years race was Outpaced, headway over 1f out, ridden to lead close home. She also came from stall 1 (same draw this year)and crossed the track to the other side to get a run. I think she has another fantastic chance at a good price.

Blue Jack appeals as improver and showed an excellent turn of foot in both races this season. Does need to improve again, but could do just that. Perhaps given too much to do last time out? Sire matured late in career to be top class. But essentially impressed with the way he quickened in his last race. Having one run in this class may well have brought him on.

Am with you man from atlantis. I know Blue Jack is predominantly a hold up horse, but at the start (drawn 1) he crossed over behind all the other horses drawn high. Easily lost 4 lengths from doing this, and was about 8 lengths off the pace at the furlong pole. Equiano just dominated from the front, and BJ made up the most ground from off the pace, given way too much to do.
Don't know the sectionals, so not sure if he was just going past tired horses.. and I'm guessing he is going to switch to behind the pace again, but at least there are only 8 other runners this time.. so theoretically to find cover he won't be as far back. Anyway am definitely taking a chance 7/1 again.. or 15/2 if I'm lucky.
GL all.

ryanwe did you get 7/1. Out all day yesterday and every bookie I tried had shortened. Returned home later in the day to find Laddies had just shortened to 6/1. Needed that extra point to justify backing. Maybe ew money but there is money for Blue JackCan't bring myself to part with readies at 6/1 or less.

Yeah MFA, I managed to get 7's with PP.. but I didn't put all the money I wanted on it as I was hoping someone would go 15/2! So majority of my bet is at 13/2. B365 were 7/1 and 1/4 odds yesterday too, but I've just done it to win. Think he is probably too short now, but you are going to be gutted if he wins and you weren't on! Anyway, glad to hear Dascombe really bullish about his chances today.. looking forward to it. GL if you play.

I was disappointed by the way Blue Jack was ridden today. I didn't back the horse but Mr Kingscote didn't get Blue Jack settled and saw far too much daylight. Gone from one extreme to the other. Last time out very much overdid the hold up tactics....this time had plenty of opportunity to settle behind the leaders and come late again, but didn't take his chance to do this. Worth giving one more chance in the grade. Having said that Kingsgate Native was obviously the best horse in the race and at his best always likely to win...couldn't back him first time out because of poor record in previous seasons. Now he's been gelded a horse to follow in future seasons!!!
