anyone taken by him this weekend.

Looked big and fat on his season appearence. Mile all too short but went down all guns blazing. I like that. The distance and his fitness beat him but his enthusiam and abilty still there. Got to be a race to be won with him this season imo.

90% of people on here wanted it to be tried over a mile last year, now its too short for him!

Same story as last couple of seasons imo - not quite up to it at Group One level and the penalties a handicap when racing below that class...

if gosden has got rid of it  , dont think it will  do as well as in the past.
Report brigust1 May 17, 2010 9:34 AM BST
They thought about that with Marchand D'Or who won yesterday and many others. Pipedreamer should win races if he is aimed at the right ones. The problem is if they keep aiming too high he will be knacked when his opportunity arrives. I think they should look abroad and keep to a mile. Doesn't properly get a fast run mile and a quarter at high level.

Ran perfectly well but probably not upto Group 1 class whatever the trip- maybe he can find a weak one overseas.

i dunno brigust . cheveley park dont get too much wrong do they. i heard pipedreamer wasnt over expensive at the sales for a horse with its record.   think it may not be as good as it once was well see.

didnt know marchant was a gosden cast off?
Report TD_Gunner May 17, 2010 9:51 AM BST
No, Brigust means that everyone assumed that Freddie Head let Marchand go because he didn't think he was up to it anymore.

I think Marchand D'Or was just viewed as a "change of scenery" for the horse as often happens. Stayed in the same ownership, and had Bonilla riding as usual.

I think they initially retired him to go stud and then decided that it wouldn't be commercially successful so sold him on. Koukash has his trainers and Kevin Ryan is one of them and he's a good trainer who I think he'll keep Pipedreamer to a similar level as he was with Gosden, the Brigadier Gerard would be my next port of call.

He's a group 2 horse who wants 10f.

You can step him up or drop him back in trip all you like but he won't win a group 1 at any distance, but should win group 3's or group 2's over 8-10f this season if he doesn't come up against a real improver.
