I have it on very good authority that CAPTAIN JAMES COOK is extremely well regarded, Johnny choosing him over the more experienced DON CARLOS is very significant.

We know he acts on the artificial surface and goes left handed having won his maiden at Dundalk, beating a horse called BEHTERINI, who is considered a future Group horse by connections.

Nice draw in stall two, he should crack out and make all here imo.

I have backed him for the Derby at 100/1 in anticipation of a big run here.

I'm warming towards it for tomorrow. I see Bullet Train as the main problem, so i might double him up with Reganne, and leave my bigger single for James Cook.

Thunder - what about the stallion(Dilum) which is describes as having a 'mediocre record at stud'  ?

The mares sire?

Not sure, but he's by Montjeu and on looks is a superstar, thats all I can go on.

Exactly my question top3!

Didn't realise Lingfield had switched their historic race to the sand this year
Report Graeme83 May 7, 2010 9:27 PM BST
You are both wrong. the race is on turf tomorrow ! so the Dundalk race doesn't matter as  much, neither does the fact the derby isn't on all weather !
Report ThunderFromDownUnder May 7, 2010 10:22 PM BST
M bad, just assumed it was on the all weather, doesn't put me off him in the slightest, Montjeu's won't be any less affective on turf than dirt I would have thought, if anything, he might find a few poundsSilly

Lingfield's one of the best tracks to prep a Derby/Oaks horse one because it's quite undulating on the bend, similar to Tattenham Corner, Cecil uses the fillies race a fair bit but most trainers don't bother for some reason. The track may not suit CJC if he is a big horse like you say fwiw.
