if time for rupert takes too fences he could be a big player in the rsa...backed alfie sherrin for it this year but he didnt seem too enjoy cheltenham so i'll be holding fire on him for next year..
like peddlers cross/khyber kym for the champion hurdle...although peddlers could also go the arkle route along with celestial halo.. gold cup im getting involved with pandorama and joncol so far but weird al if coming back well could be in the mix as well...roll on 2011 :D |

The presence of this thread with almost a year to go shows how increasingly dominant the Festival is becoming in everyone's thinking and planning.
That's why it's so dangerous, imo, to be betting after it at Aintree and P'stown where prize money and 'we might as well' drive the thinking of connections of Festival runners rather than a horse's fitness/wellbeing. Unless a horse is ultra-tough - and there are not too many of those - it will almost certainly not reproduce its Festival form given that it was carefully prepared to peak for mid March. In future I will be a backer at the Festival and a layer after it. |

Steeple on golden silver. Big Zeb destroyed him both times they raced eachother. Hence 20/1 quotes

I'd be happy to back Riverside Theatre all day long if he was aimed at the Ryannair.
I'm not quite ready to write off Master Minded for the Champion Chase either. |

Fair comment CV but GS a year younger and a more reliable jumper - I just don't think the discrepancy in prices between the two is merited, though GS's Cheltenham record is poor, I suppose.

main focus is Arkle for me. Am hoping GMOOH goes chasing and think the beast of Hobbs that won last week could be very interesting too. Add Medermit and hopefully Peddlers and it boils up quite nicely

TFR will go chasing and looks a nice sort for the RSA for sure.
I like Mad Max a lot, still think he's under-rated. Backed him EW in the Arkle at a huge price and think I was unlucky not to have got a place at the very least. He might have gone very close to winning without the mistake, because normally when horses hit that fence hard they stop completely up the hill, but he kept on pretty well imo. Very impressive at Aintree too, though Somersby didn't jump too well and was probably over the top a bit. Not sure what route he will take, but has the pace for 2m imho and I'd like to see him aimed at the QM. Albertos run also remains underrated, and I'm not sure he's necessarily just a 2.5 miler. He's improved no end since being dropped in trip, but also switched to forcing tactics. I'd like to see them try forcing tactics over 3m with him to see how it goes. |

Tell Massini was the horse I'm thinking of. Too bad to be true at Chelts last time.

I can't understand why Get me out of here is 14/1 for the Champion Hurdle and Go Native is 20's. I think Hurricane Fly and Solwhit showed how much clear they are of the Novices by trouncing Dunguib and Ronaldo de Mottes.
Go Native go injured in the Champion and hence was out for the rest of the season, other than that his form was excellent. Has yet to be exposed by anyone other than Hurricane Fly imo. |

I disagree that there is little between the Irish horses. I think Hurricane Fly wasn't fully fit on Friday and it was just pure guts that got him up in the end. I think there is more to come from him.

Only bet i have had so far is Weapons Amnesty @ 12/1 for the GC immediately after his RSA win

Just reading through stable tours from the start of the season before throwing them out. Notable how sweet Hobbs was on Snap Tie over fences.
The form of his one Chase start does n't amount to much but if back to full fitness, he could make up into a Champion Chase contender on decent ground (appreciate there's a few 'ifs' there!). |
|
By:
I was always interested in Snap Tie for the Arkle, but Champ Chase is a bit too much I think.
Deep if Weapons Amnesty has a chance then Pandorama certainly does, if he acts on goodish ground he'll relish the Gold Cup trip. Joncol will be a big improver when he fully grows up. Hopefully he can be run on Good Ground to see if he acts on it, but he should make the frame too. My one thought though is Imperal Commander and Kauto Star are about a stone better than their nearest rival so they both will need to regress quite a bit for others to win. I think the days of 180+ gold Cup performances are gone. |

I would say at this stage we are looking at the following:
Binocular hard to beat in the CH. IC and WA the 2 for the Gold Cup,but would not give up on the big 2 from the last few years, just yet!! Big Bucks for the WH if he stays hurdling, otherwise no idea, unless TFR stays hurdling. Big Zeb and SE and MM,Mad Max,Tat and CCB giving us an exciting 2 mile championship season. Others i find interesting for next season include,Walk on,Albertas Run if staying at 2 and half sort of distance,Cue Card if he jumps and Peddlers Cross who is very exciting. |
|

Also i am very fascinated as to what will happen as regards Zaynar and the plan for him.
I am currently a tad torn with thinking he may just not be as good as i thought, with thinking he is still a young horse and needs to find his ideal trip and conditions and go from there. My gut feeling is he needs good/soft ground over 2m 4f to show his best form.He will no doubt be tried over further and depending on BB and TFR that could be his aim,but i cannot see him beating either of those 2 if they were to stay Hurdling.Just not convinced 3m would be his optimum distance. |
|
By:
Yep Zaynar one to avoid for the near future, can't see him troubling Big Bucks. BB is a monster.
|
|
By:
Zaynar no chance of wh with bb running. henderson should send it chasing. r&sa would be between zay & tell massini
|

What do people think of Celestial Halo going chasing?
Has been known to hit a few hurdles but could perhaps give the fences a little more respect. Presume it will be aimed at the Arkle. Still think there's more to come from this horse. |

gloss
i think c halo has similar profile to s europe b4 he went over fences and improved for them. would be major player in arkle imo |
