Wind "fresh across" according to the official Form Book.

I think the winner was covered up and wind free. To me this is the explantion for his "amazing turn of foot". Add to that the RP form was cr@p, this is the most overrated horse in some time.

Anyone have a view on this? I really thought he slipped into a lovely "pocket" within which he didn't have to expend any energy until the last 2f. Thus we can ignore that run and he looked far from impressive the time before. Surely a lay for Derby?

On the face of it he's ran a decent Derby trial but looks too short to me at 4/1, there's going to be horses that win trial races impressively that take something out of that price imo.

Yeah, I suppose part of the reason for laying him today was the distance so I really need to be careful that that wasn't the main cause for today's defeat.
Report ben10 May 1, 2010 6:34 PM BST
Also the ground was against him today, they usually water Epsom a lot more.
Report Charlton2005 May 1, 2010 6:37 PM BST
And he was likely a little ring rusty. Still a lay at 7/2.

Think you're probably right, surely should be around 10/1 on that showing, pretty sure Sea The Stars was bigger after winning the Guineas!
