This race looks like it is really going to cut up imo, similarly to the Scottish National this week, and I think Lacdoudal will go off at half his current odds (33/1 best at the Irish lot)
Loves Sandown, with the exception of his last race there and won this race 3 years ago off a 16lb higher mark. 3rd beaten 2 lengths last year off 140 (now 136).
Sure, he's 11 years old now but showed real zest in the cross country at cheltenham and the fact that it turns into a sprint on the run in wouldn't have suited him at all, he ran a blinder - with Garde Champetre in behind.
A New Story has since ran a cracker in the Irish National, franking the form of that festival race.
Lacdoudal is incredibly consistent with 20 top 3 finishes in 32 chases and looks a solid ew bet in a race where at least half of those ahead of him in the betting probably won't run, with many of those that do having hard races in the big end of season staying handicaps already
Hobbs remains in good form and won this with an old timer in Monkerhostin in 2008.
this is massive value imo....only backed 2 in this so far wind instrument for small money on here..probably needs it softer....and may not even make the cut..backed around 80s on here.
and lacdoudal @ 33s e/w....if he'd not shown some life at chelts...would have left alone...but now off of 136....looks a great e/w bet. g/l.

Yeah - think that thread they put up was a great idea, as long as the monitor it.
They need to sort out the posting issues, dunno how many times i've had to retype a post in the past week.

Lacdoudal used to be one of my favourites before his lengthy layoff. He showed some signs of a return to form last season but I think he's gone backwards and fallen out of love with it. His apparent resurgence at Cheltenham was, to my mind, down to the novelty factor of the cross-country.
These are notoriously poor races to read 'standard' form into as there are so many twists and turns, the horses never get galloping properly as they do under normal rules (there were 11 in with a chance two out at Cheltenham). I suppose there is a chance Lacdoudal's enthusiasm for racing will have been rekindled by the race, but my guess is he is getting a bit sour and will disappoint at Sandown.
I've long thought there is a decent staying chase in Nenuphar Collonges and I think the Whitbread could be it. Value at 48 on here imo.

steeple..his form last yr was cack..apart from his runs @ sandown..which were both v.decent.
agree with what say about the cross country races...but his finishing position can still only be looked upon as a positive....he could easily run a big race again back here..and the price is just too big.

trev, he rarely runs a bad race at Sandown but he was very poor there in February and his three runs this season, prior to Cheltenham, were pretty bad.
My reading of his run in the CC is that it just confirms that he has 'gone' at the game under normal rules and has had enough. He is entitled to be worn out as he invariably gave his all when running regularly, often under big weights for his relatively light frame, and with the further drawback of having to battle back after a blunder.
I hope I am wrong as he was such a brave horse in his prime.

i see briery fox won today...who was 2nd in this last yr..just in front of lacdoudal wonder if daly might try & turn him out again quickly...with a pen.
either way as a 12 yrd old...it just shows these old boys can produce the goods under optimum conditions..good ground/ RH.( race was @ ascot ).

plat ..not a blinder i know...but knowhere ran well enough against erics charm, with dom d'orgeval behind..whos run well since... oscar parks run a couple of half decent races...and i was expecting pretty star to run a big race back @ ascot off 122...considering he ran any currency close off 131 @ ascot in nov. but it was really just that the old boys are not completely out of it if everythings right for them..
lacdoudal best price 16s now...as low as 12s

The King George run? Well it was only a month after a (near)career best , was bound to have taken a toll. Plenty of horses have run stinkers in the GC and bounced back!

Anyone fancy The Tother One? Has a nice pull with The Package based on a couple of runs although accept The Package has improved. Shapes like he stays and has good course form albeit over hurdles. Might need some rain though.

You guys do all the work you know that. Tam looks a good one, don't know about the distance. I remember him fading on the run in in the betfair chase when Snoopy f'n Loopy won in 2008.
