5/2 seems a fair price to me, what do you reckon ?

Irish guineas btw.

I'd appreciate if someone could alter the title, as it may be misleading.

Terrible price, in my opinion.

Why do you think that James. What horses from the British guineas will oppose him ?
Report ben10 April 13, 2010 10:51 AM BST
Is that with a run?
Report Graeme83 April 13, 2010 10:52 AM BST
No, ben.

That's the whole point, we have no idea who's likely to line up for the Irish Guineas. We don't know for sure that the allegedly fragile Steinbeck will actually turn up on the day, even though he is being aimed at the race. I wouldn't touch 5/2 with a proverbial bargepole.

Thanks Graeme, think James has made the point I was trying to make well.

This is one of those moments where my mind is stuck. They were talking about getting a run into him before the Irish guineas. Then there the thing that asks me what the odds are on both of them no turning up, as Lillie Langtry is 8/1.

So my question would be James, what are the odds on them both not turning up ?
Report jamesp April 13, 2010 12:05 PM BST
Well, there have been mixed messages about Lillie Langtry - she has reportedly recovered fine from the knee surgery she had last November, but she's still not ready for the Newmarket Guineas. The Irish Guineas comes just three weeks later, so there must be a doubt about her being ready for that too. Personally, I don't like the Irish Guineas races as antepost betting propositions - there always seem to be too many ifs and buts, compared with the Newmarket Guineas. If I had to pick one out for the Irish 1000 Guineas it would probably be Termagant.

Think I'd rather take a chance on Cape Blanco @8s. Looks like he is either being kept for this or France.
Report ben10 April 13, 2010 12:18 PM BST
Cape Blanco could easily go for a Derby trial imo.

5/2 has to be the worst antepost price I've ever seen.
Report Graeme83 April 13, 2010 4:03 PM BST
Yeah i was just gauging opinion. I won't be touching those odds.
