Campanologist - one time promising colt, trained into a serial loser by Saeed Bin Suroor. Would have been taking third place in the Judmonte. Can't see it.
City Leader - Tenth of 11 last year, same fait awaits under super Ted Durcan, as his Mum calls him. Doctor Fremantle - Smooth moving colt who may yet have some improvement in him, and is attractive at 14-16/1. Forgotten Voice - decent animal who shouldn't be quite up to this task, despite the booking of the masterful Richard Hughes. Anyone remember irony? Mawatheeq - Improving, but if a 2L beating of serial loser Campanologist makes you a 6/1 shot for this, you'll not be seeing any of my money. However, he is improving, and may not be without a chance. Never on Sunday - named by my wife. With excuses for his last run, his previous bit of form puts him in the shakeup. Better value than the Tegoning hoss, imo. Pipedreamer - did me a nice favour in France last time, paying a handsome 9.3 on Le Paree Mutuel. Suspect this is a furlong further than ideal on a surface faster than ideal. Twice Over - had me over a couple of times, this fellow. I don't think he will beat the other Khalid hoss in a true run race, not for me. Virtual - No thanks, ta. Alpine Rose - pieces of form which suggest she can be a factor, but no French filly has won this race since the last one, so on that she is passed over. Barshiba - tough, consistent, and she won at Haydock when I was in Spain and I backed her. Given that I am now in Scotland I am not backing her and she won't win. Fame and Glory - clear on the ratings, but after being serially gubbed by the Oxx machine and running questionably in Le Arc, I must oppose him. On ground that is quicker than seems ideal, so not believe Aiden when he says this one has the speed for a July Cup. 1m2f may not be enough of a test, either. Set Sail - if he does so now, at half four on Friday, he may be placed. Probably has the speed for the July Cup too. Sariska - would prefer a bog to incovenience the rest, but has a chance on this ground of sorts on her run against Dar Re Mi at York also. Not convinced, though the inmates of Wormwood Scrubs would be cheering this one home with the ex champ on board. Verdict : Lay FAG to win 2 points, bet 1 point each on Doctor Fremantle and Never on Sunday, and don't blame me when it all goes t1ts up. |
