It is clear High Twelve is a highly strung inidividual (surprise, surprise being a son of Montjeu!) and he had effectively run his race before the Royal Lodge, though still managing to finish fourth was some achievement considering. He was disappointing in the Dewhurst for all it was a rise in class, failing to respond at all for pressure and dropping away tamely when the pace lifted. Hopefully he will have strengthened up into a nice 3yo, and perhaps a winter on his back will enable him to see his races out better, though his temperament is the main problem. His pedigree is a real mixture of speed and stamina, his dam a very speedy filly who won the Prix Robert Papin as a juvenile, so pinning down what his trip will be is tough. However, given he has been left in the Derby but not entered in the 2000 Guineas suggests Gosden's line of thought.
I am also looking forward to his maiden winners of 2009 taking to the track of 3yos, and even some who didn't win last year. Commissionaire, Deirdre, Fallen Idol, Namaskar and Prizefighting are all very exciting prospects for the season ahead, and I must confess to being a little surprised Godolphin didn't step in and take Prizefighting off Gosden's hands! Lunar Victory, Man Of Action, Mujdeya, Radio Wave, Scorn, Strictly Lambada and That's My Style are all nice sorts who ran with promise without winning. |

Lads, any views on Nouriya of SMS, seemed unfancied on debut and ran an eye catcher to say the least. I haven't seen another hombread for these connections and was wondering if there might be a possibility of it running in a maiden, the nell gwyn or the fred darling before the 1,000 guineas ???
P.s; Yes, I am the saddo who's been backing it for the 1,000 guineas, fair play to the person who put up £3 at 999-1 :-) |
|
By:
Nouriya isn't entered in the English 1000 Guineas! Also, I am not sure one of Sir Michael Stoute's top filly prospects would start at 16/1 on her debut run in an AW maiden, though she is very well bred being related to top-class Zafeen, and it was a very eyecatching effort on debut. I'd imagine Safina would be their big classic hope from their group of maiden fillies, if they indeed decide to target a maiden towards the 1000 Guineas.
|
|
By:
Haven't a clue on his 1,000 target, possibly none. I always liked tabaasum(not original) and am scared of the generous price being offered as she must be too small and will probably end up like her dam, an under achiever.
I will still keep a close eye on nouriya tho as he could've easilly ran her in a maiden in november unless she was put away as she's good ? |
|
By:
Personally I'd say in a possibly weak year if she was to run well in a trial or, more likely, a maiden at the Craven meeting then a supplementary entry is a possible, at a decent price I'd say good luck.
|
|
By:
i'll have another fiver at 500 this week, no chance but the only other one i'm backing is electric feel and possibly special duty on the day.
I don't think it's impossible for him to have an impressive maiden winner(without the big entries) early on and pitch in at the highest level after, will be keeping an eye on maxim gorky this week also. |
|
By:
I'm very mindful of the live maiden only winners, having got 8/1 Special Duty I feel I have all the horses from the usual trials covered (assuming she shows :-s ) but Stoute has done it with his colts before and we saw last year that it's more than possible to win having a light prep.

I'd like to put Meezaan up on here, reckon the Hamdan team they rate him reasonably (brought his brother who's 2 this year for big money at Goffs I believe). Put him in the sales race on debut, raced on wrong side iirc. Should progress this year and could be a useful miler, maybe Listed class Go that one to a Tee, Ben. Going to Jersey next. |

WD ben, looked at it last night and the recent stable form put me off. This thread is one to keep at the top.
|
|
By:
Ta guys. Redal I've found stable form rather sporadic so far this season, Stoute and Cecil's for example seem to be running well at random (regardless of betting even). Only reliable stables seem to be Hannon two year olds and Richard Fahey :)
|
|
By:
Good old Fahey and the Hannon 2yos. You're right. With Channon yesterday and Gosden today I've cost myself winners so will try to overlook this more. Cheers ben

Latnasaa a runner from this thread in the 1.30 at Newbury tomorrow.

My German horse to follow, Lamool runs at Frankfurt tomorrow, worth looking out for (not sure if there's anywhere to watch the race). Franny Norton takes the ride. Should love this 1m2f trip.

I was looking for this thread the other day after Aviate won. Thanks ben. One of the best money making threads around.

No problem, there's some quality threads on here, particularly last few months.

I see Shintoh and Deluxe run today, quite fancy both although tough races, be interesting to see how they get on.

Replies: 2109 01 Nov 09 19:32 French ones: Royal Revival (Andre Fabre trained, should improve next year) Behkabad (won a Group 3, but wanted to note it because he's bred to be a thousand times better next year, half brother to Behestham) Darma (meant to be better than Rosanara) Sahitas (her dam is a sister to Schiaparelli and could be a long term project for the owners of Goldikova, although she's since lost again when I'd have liked her to win) And my main one that I really fancy for next year is Deluxe. Out of wonder-dam Hasili she has at least 4 Group 1 winners as siblings, really excited to see her next year. On a side note ben, that german filly ambria you mentioned is now listed as being in training with gary moore and owned by earl mack |
