The way it took a keen hold, yet won by staying on so well, it looked like there's at least another handicap in it with a faster pace.

And the way it drifted in the market suggests it either wasn't fully wound up yesterday, or conditions weren't right for it. It was trading at 2.6/2.64 on here at lunchtime, when I had £100 on it in a Lads shop at 13/8, yet the SP was 9/4 (Betfair SP 4.11).

Not sure whether to be delighted that Lads shops had Lingfield as a BOG meeting yesterday, or annoyed at the lousy industry SP compared with the Betfair one.

Chuffed with 4/1 Barricane Tiger and 9/4 Kilmore Lemon for the over 15/1 double. Both mentioned first earlier in thread, so not after-timing

SO WHAT WAS THE FABULOUS MENTION EARLIER IN THE THREAD ?

woodmanchester • December 20, 2017 3:57 PM GMT
Not sure what an A11 is doing as a race between the semis and some decent later opens, where old favourite Barricane Tiger/King Eden do battle and Kilmore Lemon tackles National Sprint heroine Queen Anna

Devious aftertiming …. I mentioned them....…therefore I backed them …  and I had the double as well by the way.

woodmanchester now aftertiming on a historical level!

Obviously going back a long way but if memory serves, Desert Orchid had back-pedalled in the Champion Hurdle, tailed off, so logic said he had no hope of winning the King George. He must have been about 33/1 first time and I was in the pub getting sloshed and for the hell of it, had a small bet on him, as the horse that couldn't win (well, I was very young). I saw him jump a fence in the home straight and shouted to the packed crowd: " I'll show my *rse if that wins." Thought there was a circuit to go. Didn't realise it was the last fence and Orchid was about to trot up. Needless to say, I reneged on showing my *rse! Laugh
Report woodmanchester December 25, 2017 4:15 PM GMT
I realise anything that lines up at the start is a possible winner, no matter how remote that seems

I fancied him for the Champion Hurdle, so despite the extremely poor effort, still had a soft-spot for him! Laugh

After-timing maybe but an interesting story and just thought i'd share it with you all at this festive time of year again Wink

a friend phoned me about 40 mins before a race, with "info from someone he knew, who was chatting to some irish guy" and he said this horse in a maiden hurdle in Ieland wont get beat.

i went online it was 16/1 in from 20's. i had a bit ew on it. Its form was 000000, anyway it came into about 6/1.

Went 50L clear at start and nothing got close, won by a hurdle

With all that in my head, I wouldn’t usually dream of playing well in advance of a big event like the English or Irish Derbys, and indeed left it until a month or so to go before I backed Dorotas Wildcat to take the glory at Towcester this year. I think I may have missed some 40-1 somewhere as result, or perhaps even bigger, but 33-1 was reasonable in my eyes so close to the event.

There is still some real talent out there, this cluster f**k from shlotter on the Beveur Dair thread;

I was there when he won his last CH. I walked out of club, not caring about the rest of the festival straight after because I had to go and collect from everywhere. I caught him when he won his first at 140 and 70, when he won at Kempton, Sandown  I had an almighty whack on him at money on. He hasn't won me as much money in his life as Istabraq, but he has a very special place in my heart.

I just greened for my original £250 stake @ 1.74(place money safe anyway) as I favoured an amended result.
Went back because it seemed to be taking too long, but was 2.32 so left as was. Sorry for Kitty/Enrillo backers but he ho, not giving the £3.5k back lol......well not yet anyway

An actual steward’s enquiry winner. A new low? Filth.

When I looked through this card, I decided that if I was to have a bet today, it would be on HMS Seahorse. Must be fit and being lightly raced should improve. It's being backed accordingly as well!

Another reverse after time. HMS Seahorse lost, needless to say....

Was astounded by team selection at 530pm ,to see that Ross Barkley was on their bench and our midfield was not only threadbare ,we were also playing a "shed load" of number tens and some sort of "your turn to play" roundabout ,don't bet football but took the 5.4 villa.

Doesn’t bet football, but this Spuds’ fan steams in to back Villa. Filth.

I seemed to remember backing his horses blindly towards the end of the season he had backed himself to have 20 winners (I think it was 20) in a season. He stood to win £250k and just made it.

Talking about Curley on his RIP thread when a nice filthy after time comes up from storm alert ( more like filth alert)...gutter stuff

One of his that I remember was Mayfair Bill in the County Hurdle in 1965. He can only have been in 18 at the time. I was a student and some racing pals and I backed No Restrictions at 33/1 in the George Duller (now Pertemps) and Mayfair Bill at 100/8 on the same afternoon and were told off for making a lot of noise in the common room!

...................  Protekorat was poor. Got that money back on the best system in racing though. Andrew Balding 3yo maiden at 6/4 this morning.

The winner he was referring to was the 4yo Berkshire Breeze who won the 14:53 at Lingfield @ 4/5 having been odds against earlier in the day.

🤣

Get in. A great day for Andrew Balding followers. Backed ante post and again this morning when he was back out to 9.2 on here. well done Frankie.

No mention on the antepost thread, prior to the race!!!

If I read every thread on here, I would never have time to have a bet. I mention my faith in Andrew Balding and Juddmonte regularly so why would I have backed anything else but Chaldean? My only doubt was Frankie after Newbury. As usual in my experience, the anti post price was no better than the morning price although he did shorten dramatically in the minutes before the race.
