I cannot understand how an individual has/take the time to "police" whether others backed the winner prior to the race or not. Does it really matter? As the saying goes, he who lies is only lying to himself and no one else - the person gains nothing!

The "monitor" should/ought to just grow up, get a life and/or do something more constructive and satisfying eg make a cup of tea/coffee. Maybe, each to his own, I guess.

Age among jump jockeys is often an issue that divides fans. Ruby, Richard Johnson and Paddy Brennan are all at the veteran stage but all are riding really well at the moment. Anyone who backed Cue Card last Boxing Day, Theatre Guide at Cheltenham and No Duffer as I did will be giving thanks for Brennan in a finish. At the other end of the spectrum, young jockeys are castigated for the occasional poor ride but they have the chance to improve with experience.

just talking about ruby walsh's age, however no better time to have a good filthy aftertime

Nice one GEESUSS. Plenty of value in these markets if you're selective. Really liked Eriksen 16's & Payet 18's so went in again. Slybet have been pushing out Payet for the last 3 or 4 games, maybe they're using it as a loss leader. Yesterdays 20's was very generous especially against the Keystone Klopps defence.

Since I can't reply to either of the other Superbowl topics ....

I had a brief glimpse at the BBC coverage and was horrified at some of the presenters & guests. I quickly switched back to Sky. I watched up until the first score last night, recorded the rest and watched it back this morning. That was the most unbelievable comeback I have ever witnessed. So totally one sided and then switching totally around. I had a chunk on the Patriots, had totally written it off & watched in complete disbelief as they pulled it out of the fire.

I think it's a good sport to watch. Up until the last few games they have the red zone program on, which shows all the scoring chances & action continually switching from game to game at the same time and on a separate channel to the live game. The QB's are extraordinary and mostly throw the ball with unbelievable accuracy and under pressure. The running backs are exceptional athletes, the wide receivers often make incredible catches.

The game has a great statistical base, with dozens of website providing masses of stats. This increases the attractiveness of the sport for many as a betting sport. The betting value available on the handicaps is as good as in any sport. They offer 10/11 each of two with a push for a draw, where you get your money back on a push. e.g You bet a team with a -3 handicap, they win by 3 and you get your stake returned.

The in running market baffles me more every day. Flat winner against bumpers on a tight track, stable in form so of course it drifted.

that's why they stick this chris kamara "edit your acca" ad on all the time. They know they're mug bets.

Hard enough to pick one winner at cheltenham let alone several.

Obviously it depends lewisham ranger. Backing 2-4 horses on the nose in handicaps at cheltenham is like throwing money at bookies and about as mug like as it gets. However, doubles and trebles aimed to place or lump doubles on strong favourites are where I have made the most money at cheltenham. I remember last year where a Vautour / Thistlecrack double was near on 5/1. Loaded and lumped and rolled around in gravy!!!

these posted on a cheltenham acca thread

I think someone went on social media or emailed ATR Cheltenham preview night about the well-being of Douvan but Gary O'Brien (ATR Irish expert) and Jamie Lynch both had no knowledge of that. one of the worst aftertimers I've encountered on here is jedi sophie, who tends to pop up on every golf tournament thread around about halfway through, to tell everyone how he's annoyed that the leader isn't further clear as he's on them at big prices. Such post is invariably accompanied by a sad face Cry

I pulled him up on it as noticed he was doing it on every tournament. Given that golf has 140 odd players in most tournaments, it seemed rather far stretched to think that he was on the leader everytime. it's possible he was backing them but then conveniently failed to mention how he probably backed half the field as well.

quite a subtle aftertimer this guy is. I notice as well that ever since I've exposed his chronic aftertiming that he's held a grudge against me. Actually had to block him as the abuse got too much- clearly didn't like having his little ruse exposed.

The way it took a keen hold, yet won by staying on so well, it looked like there's at least another handicap in it with a faster pace.

And the way it drifted in the market suggests it either wasn't fully wound up yesterday, or conditions weren't right for it. It was trading at 2.6/2.64 on here at lunchtime, when I had £100 on it in a Lads shop at 13/8, yet the SP was 9/4 (Betfair SP 4.11).

Not sure whether to be delighted that Lads shops had Lingfield as a BOG meeting yesterday, or annoyed at the lousy industry SP compared with the Betfair one.

woodmanchester now aftertiming on a historical level!

Obviously going back a long way but if memory serves, Desert Orchid had back-pedalled in the Champion Hurdle, tailed off, so logic said he had no hope of winning the King George. He must have been about 33/1 first time and I was in the pub getting sloshed and for the hell of it, had a small bet on him, as the horse that couldn't win (well, I was very young). I saw him jump a fence in the home straight and shouted to the packed crowd: " I'll show my *rse if that wins." Thought there was a circuit to go. Didn't realise it was the last fence and Orchid was about to trot up. Needless to say, I reneged on showing my *rse! Laugh
Report woodmanchester December 25, 2017 4:15 PM GMT

I'd be interested in backing her for the classics, even if you don't look at Karl Burke and think this guy has the magic touch in the big races like O'Brien has.

In the KG VI thread...

On at 33/1 Might Bite

This stems from an aftertime of sheer ignominy minutes after the RSA last March ....

woodmanchester • March 15, 2017 7:25 PM GMT
"Over the moon with Might Bite. Did say he was effectively my Gold Cup and a "good thing." They all count!
Got 33/1 he goes on to win the King George and if successful there, 80/1 he follows up in the 2018 Gold Cup too"

Used to work out the BAGS betting tissue for RP when it was always a 12 race programme. Rare but sometimes yu could get a bet on 12 unplaced dogs, out of the first 12. Only managed to strike the bet 3 times but always won!

still at it ......

…….No good on trixies …After-timing but at least got the Naas placepot up. Only paid a miserly £14.60, though

at least he admits it .....

The advantages of the Union Jack bet  see the Greyhound Forum …..
woodmanchester  28 Jan 18 21:45 It's possible to have the first 5 losers and still notch up a winning treble
Even if that fails, a later middle selection win counts as a single and can be lion's share returns. Got 12/1, 6/1, evs treble up today. Paid 181/1, only 8 bets

I just laid Douvan as I did at Cheltenham. How can a horse that has not won for 2 years be odds on? He did run much better than I expected today.

ran much better than he expected at odds on...normal puking muck

reminds me of a race years ago.

a friend phoned me about 40 mins before a race, with "info from someone he knew, who was chatting to some irish guy" and he said this horse in a maiden hurdle in Ieland wont get beat.

i went online it was 16/1 in from 20's. i had a bit ew on it. Its form was 000000, anyway it came into about 6/1.

Went 50L clear at start and nothing got close, won by a hurdle

you just can't beat the good old days... this after today's gamble in ireland

How on earth could that shower ever have been favourites. I laid them and Germany to reach the final before it all started, just need Brazil to go out now to clean up. What price England to reach the final now?

Bookies need to get real over non-runner rules
By Paul Brown 1:54PM 13 AUG 2018

With all that in my head, I wouldn’t usually dream of playing well in advance of a big event like the English or Irish Derbys, and indeed left it until a month or so to go before I backed Dorotas Wildcat to take the glory at Towcester this year. I think I may have missed some 40-1 somewhere as result, or perhaps even bigger, but 33-1 was reasonable in my eyes so close to the event.

I remember Bernie Doyle had the fav one year, Jerpoint Diamond. No good though

Savva's Westmead Pulse had so much pace but just couldnt start

Won big time in heats on Silver Chance and Easy Come, both fast and stayed there!

What fantastic memories these aftertimers have , dont seem to be able o remember all those losers they keep putting up on the greyhound forum prior to the races  being run ...LaughLaughLaughLaugh

No prizes for guessing who posted this little gem but if you still need a clue:  his username rhymes with 'pageform'.

And if you don't happen to see the thread in time to post a selection and are stupid enough to say "get in " after you have backed the winner you get slagged off for aftertiming which happens to me a lot.

There is still some real talent out there, this cluster f**k from shlotter on the Beveur Dair thread;

I was there when he won his last CH. I walked out of club, not caring about the rest of the festival straight after because I had to go and collect from everywhere. I caught him when he won his first at 140 and 70, when he won at Kempton, Sandown  I had an almighty whack on him at money on. He hasn't won me as much money in his life as Istabraq, but he has a very special place in my heart.

Wow - a couple of weeks ago I thought my two antepost bets for this, Angels Breath and Klassical Dream, were going to the Ballymore and I might as well screw up my slips. Now there's every chance they go off first and second favourites. Mental this game...

If you can supplement for small money, why would you enter as a yearling or even as a 2yo? I agree that winners of designated trials should get in though for a reasonable fee like £1000. Being selfish I hope Telecaster doesn't run although I have backed him the last twice. I want Bangkok to win and every danger that drops out is a bonus
