Not sure his owner made many entries for this year's Derby at the opening stage, and now tends to supplement those who are good enough to go to Epsom (i.e. Doctor Fremantle) rather than enter them as yearlings, though has a fair few in the 2011 Derby.
As for Bullet Train, his pedigree and the manner of his debut victory suggests 10-12f will suit best this season, his speedy mare a half sister to the top-class middle distance performer Powerscourt, while, of course, his sire, Sadler's Wells, is also a big influence towards stamina. I thought he may go for a conditions race at Newbury next week (the one Father Time finished third in last year) and then go on to the Dante, should he prove good enough in that conditions race beforehand, but obviously that is just my opinion. He is a cracking prospect whatever his immediate plans, that's for sure.

Thanks RUSSJR. He works with Timepiece? I think it said in the RP that timepiece was more eyecatching than BT. Could be wrong saying that. I was looking 4 a price on BT for the derby and only got offered 33/1 in ladcrookes :( They asked me who his trainer was!

He works with Rigidity also. nOT Abdulla's and ran twice last yr, is entered in Dante though. Rigidity actually runs tomorrow. RP say's Timepiece looked in good order when moving nicely upsides Bullet Train and one other. The one other could well be Rigidity here again.

I thought it would have been All Action. I am very much looking to Rigidity's reappearance run tomorrow, especially as it's in a handicap off a mark of 77! :0

Yes, that is my primary concern as well, though a certain Ajaan (his half brother) seems to act well on a testing surface, and his dam won on heavy ground, so very hopefully he'll handle conditions tomorrow. I really cannot believe that he won't be good enough off a mark of 77 if able to cope with the testing conditions - he looks a horse who could rise through the handicap ranks and into pattern company in double quick time.

Cream i will be there tomorrow , how do you think moose moran will get on in the finale ? I must pass on a good word for Blizzaed Blues he has improved a lot over the winter.

Well, I thought John Gosden's Tower was meant to be decent, but a gelding operation in the winter and the fitting of blinkers on debut hardly inspires enthusiasm! Moose Moran showed definite signs of ability on debut at Lingfield (AW), pulling hard then running green and needing pushing along from some way out, getting near the leaders briefly until fading under considerate handling. It remains to be seen how he handles the ground (US bred), and his dam was also a bridle merchant in her racing days (or rather found very little for pressure), but it looks a weak maiden and he at least has the call of experience over the Gosden and Stoute newcomers.
Talking of Blizzard Blues, I am looking forward to seeing the horse who finished second to him on debut, Manifest. Well bred, very impressive on his second start, ran well enough in defeat behind the progressive Akmal at HQ in a Listed Race, he has a massive amount of to come this season. He could be a very smart middle distance/staying performer IMO.

Thanks , i thought he ran okay on debut. Manifest is a lovely horse think he got caught out by the ground on his final start. Not seen an easier winner of a newmarket maiden.

Bullett Train worked well this morning with the unraced 3yo called All Action (who also went well). Bullett Train is definately the better long term prospect although All Action should win the Wood Ditton next week at HQ.

Just got the weekender and they have Capital Attraction, Bullet Train (mongan, went Best), Timepiece (Queally) 1m. I would have thought what i've posted previously which was in RP about timepiece going well alongside bullet train and one other would have meant timepiece went best on sat in this gallop? Good to see the 2 of them work together though. Got 40's on BT this morning 4 derby for a small bet now he has an entry, 1 crowd offered 20's.

He surely has to get his chance, even if workforce sails in. Run the 2 of them! I'd be p!ssed if i didn't get a run for me money after that performance on sat.
Much more optimistic about collecting my BT bet rather than my timepiece, if they both ran!

stretched out so beautifully , went on and on like horse with breeding , i think this horse will improve a tonne and if it was o briens it would be 4s for epsom , done it easy and looks to have a great temprement for the big day

Call me a cynic but i'd like to have seen that before one lagged up and the other was turned over! Odd that the trainer evidently has a completely different reading of the gallop.

Like the look of the breeding and looks like Workforce might not turn up? 12.5 looks way too big given that the ante-post second favourite has no chance whatsoever.

The time at Lingfield was comparable to the other times that day - and I like a honest horse that can dictate from the front. Also Henry's remarks were made at the time when Workforce was still very much Khaled Abdullah's #1 Derby hope.

Commander in Chief also won his trial making the running in a slowly run race so it's no bar to victory. The time of the Lingfield race was poor but the horse wasn't exactly just clinging on after gaining first run, he quickened away from them. The time was poor because of the early pace, I reckon he could've gone much faster early if needed. Don't know if he's quick enough to win a Derby but with the doubts about the opposition I'm prepared to take that chance at the price.

agreed, actually the two horses that impressed me both in the trials were this horse and azmeel, dont like the fav at all, horrible price based more on his two year old career and a thrashing of some slowboats at donny. looked quite small and lacking scope in the guineas itself and i for one will be amazed if he wins the derby.[smiley:crazy]
midas touch was far less impressive in winning the derrinstown than fame and glory and casual conquest were in the two preceding years, and they didnt win the derby either, even if this years looks a weak renewal.
cape blanco is a much more formidable rival, however though it seems strange to say it, given that hes out of a sprinter, i'd be more concerned that he'd have the actual toe to win a derby rather than he'd actually stay. i just dont think that dante was a great race. its hyped up every year as the no1 derby trial but that doesnt mean that anything coming out of it is going to be anything special, you only have to look at last years renewal to see that.
azmeel on the other hand oozes class. he didnt always travel that well at chester but he finds. i'll take him and bullet train against the field.

So Henry, being an astute trainer of 40 yrs standing, is going to change his mind about the ability of his charge because something he doesnt train is a non-runner? I See.
