what is the opinion of everyone about Treasure Beach as a good e/w bet in The Arc, he's beaten Nathaniel who was 4th or 5th fav until being pulled out, lost by a short head to Pour Moi in the Derby, who has been the red hot fav until injury took him out of the race, and he also won the Irish Derby (granted that beating Seville isn't the strongest form), he didn't perform great when losing in France but could that be the going that day, and with expected faster going on Arc day,at 40/1, is he a bit overpriced and possibly overlooked?
The day Pour Moi (owned by Coolmore) came out , i though 'right so Treasure Beach will probably run now' . As you say he is a Group 1 12f winner who is very unlikely to drop to 10f , so , apart from The Arc, there was not much else to aim him at.
Opened the market here, hoping he'd be about 100 to back, found that he could be backed at 500 , though great ,must be worth £3 at least, then thought maybe he was injured or something. Had not heard anything, meant to check it out, moved on to other things, gave it no more thought til this week.
40/1 probably overpriced yes but others may be better value and i doubt i'd back him at all now.

TB won the Secretariat Stakes at a 1.2 f. Positives are very well noted Pedro. Considering conditions, he is arguably the best 3yo colt in the race. Also likes to stalk and gallop -- so if the speedy fillies are not up to it, he looks a good chance to be there. Negative is O'Brien form. His 2yos have been running well, but not the older horses. I am waiting to see how his runners in the Diamond Stakes at Dundalk perform myself. But other than that, I think he is being overlooked.

If Barzelona had mistimed that derby, he'd be a triple group 1 (double derby) winner who had one bad day in France. Maybe what puts people off is they think hes a low class battler. imo hes a high class idler though and that can be worked on.

Also he was never talked up his stable , who ususally hype up anything they have better than Group 3 level (Cape Blanco is another good one that they don't have so much to say about) .
Beginning to think 40/1 is a hell of a price.

No ramp intended cos theres obviously loads of really good horses in this race but even the last week screams 'under the radar'. Why say last Saturday that youve got SYT, SNA and Seville when you know TB has been bought back from his break early? Maybe due to available races but look how many of o'briens drop back to 10f before going to the arc?
