Im thinking the same thing James, had 400 on frankel for st james at 1.35 and if that wins gonna chuck it all on so you think.

planteur looks like the complete package this season imo....

does so you think's aussie form and multi group 1's count for nothing then stan?

obviously its very hard stan. all im saying is he isnt priced up at 1/2 solely for winning a couple of egg and spoon races in ireland.

O'Brien has also said its the best horse hes ever train which isnt going to help his price.

that has to be taken with a pinch of salt as he was always going to say that after spending millions on him. ballydoyle after all are only interested in breeding and horses that get sent off short prices are actually more valuable to them. a 6/4 winner of the guineas is worth more at stud than a 40/1 winner of the same race. one big hype machine but at the end of the day i still think hes going to win.

i have actually seen him race here in aussie a few times as well as having a pretty good idea of the level of form in the uk so may be better qualified to comment than you think stan

Obviously you know quite a bit about him , but if he's going to win this  he may need to be everything Ballydoyle think he is ( not that it's like them to big a horse up  ;) ) . Just an opinion , but Planteur may be trading at a gift of a price. We shall see.

The whole Ballydoyle hype machine argument means nothing to me.
Bart Cummings, the greatest trainer in Australian history, having trained over 250 Group 1 winners including 12 Melbourne cup winners said this horse is the BEST he has ever trained. Not one of the best, THE BEST.
Believe the hype or not, if you are familiar with Australian racing you know that Bart doesn't spruik. This horse is the best in the world IMO and you will see a glimpse of this on Wednesday.

what about if the ground ends up soft muncha?

the thing that makes So You Think so great is his devestating turn of foot. Good enough to win a group 2 over 7f last year.

They will both win tho back to the original question imo. Frankel's speed is just frightening as well. Just watched all his runs again actually think he would a july cup if they fancied it.

Don't think the soft will worry him at all.
He goes so quick around a track like Moonee Valley (which is Strath Ayr) and suits horses who love cushion I think he will be better suited with a bit more give in the ground. He has won on slow in Aus as well.
Biggest asset is the length of his stride, which means he can cruise at such a high speed. His most crushing wins in Aus have been from the front.
Agreed with Frankel as well. Ev's on the double looks a cracking bet. Not sure how either of them go under.

i still think it's the bet of the carnival. But I do think, and correct me if i'm wrong, that track ratings in the uk/aus don't exactly line up. I'm sure i've read on countless occasions that soft in aus wouldn't be soft in uk.

Genuine soft in the UK is generally considered heavy going in Aus.
Going on the soft side of good in the UK would be the equivalent to geniune soft in Aus.

Just a bit short imo. So You Think is probably a bit better than Planteur, and Twice Over,  but 1/2 is a bit short as they are proper group 1 horses, unlike the sorts he has been facing so far.

Very good luck to the short odds players though.

Cannot equate Aus middle distance form to Europe.  About a stone weaker in general
