Yeah, shame. Last year I backed one dog and managed to cop the lot. I tried it once before years ago and the thread title was "an army of one"......MIND THE NET 2014

think 2 has done best out of the draw as got to be chance top misses it slightly & lacks a yard up to cause 2 problems if it does prob be a 12 21 fc if 2 leads that's the bet imo yes 4 or 5 can smash

Every race was fine until the Derby Final. So much buffering I thought my wifi was malfunctioning. And, then an alien screen appeared at the bottom left.
The winner in Tp 3 Lennies Eddie led all the way. The fav Ballymac Deniro in 5 had every chance. A change of luck for the winning trainer. His runner in Tp 6 Lennies Tank was withdrawn.

Complete lash up, then he says " Greyhound racing is the winner " ... Really, I imagine that coverage would put off more than it attracts.

as an honest appraisal, it is difficult to offer a direct comparison with last year because the weather was poor throughout the evening. At least the rain stopped for the final, although the weather deteriorated again afterwards……..It was obvious that there was not the same level of spending by the promoters as last year, but on reflection that was probably the correct decision as the previous attempt was to create more of a festival atmosphere, but given how bad the weather was, much of that would have been washed out anyway…….crowds appeared down, although it was still very busy……..once again, there was a mixture of genuine greyhound enthusiasts and those simply out for a lively night with friends……..from a racing perspective, it was an enjoyable evening with some excellent races ……you are able to get a close look at all the dogs during the parade, which is a real positive although we have to balance that with the long range view for the racing itself but you do get used to it……..the security arrangements were well organised with a human barrier put in place before the final to prevent any potential disruption, which seemed a sensible precaution and, thankfully, proved unnecessary….it was also a good night from a betting perspective for me…..it is always enjoyable cash betting in the ring, but the bookmakers, of which there were around ten, never really appeared interested in taking maximum money…….there were races where, had the Viking been standing, he would have been pitching and cutting everyone for the dogs he wanted in the book, creating that traditional relationship between punter and the old enemy…..instead, it was simply a case of those are the prices, take them or leave them I felt a lot of money was left in punters pockets that could have been persuaded into the hod…….perhaps that is a consequence of electronic boards replacing chalk, but it felt like a missed opportunity at one of the few greyhound meetings where cash-carrying punters still turn up in large numbers……will I be going again next year….most probably…..despite the rain, a good night was had….

Watching it again Deniro is a huge odds on poke turning in second. I'm still struggling to get over him not going past.
Completely agree with you Winja, nobody takes " a view" anymore, well very rarely anyway. I go horse racing about 4 or 5 times a month and it's the same m.o. as the one you described @ Towcester last night.

the winner has found a big chunk up to the bend sb compared to what it did against 1&5 in the SF traps level with 1 last night maybe ground slightly mitigating last sat but its still a load of bs imo

in his interview after the final Hennessy said it was probably a good thing tank wasnt able to take part as they cant break from 6 here....does make you wonder if it was a tacticle lameness espeically with the work put into eddie to produce a performanc like that....even though eddie finshed in front of tank on the two occassions they met during the derby many could have an opinion that Tank was the better dog....

I were there also on Finals night aswell as the first round too. I am local after all and fortunate to have such a great facility within walking distance.
Finals night was epic and such a great bunch of greyhounds met in the derby final. Loads of irish over too ! Fair play. Not too sure why trap 6 is so poor though , in graded racing around there theres no issue. Maybe its just a poor lot of wide runners nowadays in the open scene?
Seems like theres some seriously fast hounds nowadays , maybe the way they are bred? Maybe speed and the wide runner types just dont happen?

I have never been, and doubt I ever will, the space between the track and stands is a killer for me, I used to like the up close and personal with the dogs ( like my first track Portsmouth and later Hove)
The track with its inconsistency in goings and also Trap related issues must be a genuine " Bookies Benifit"

The track isn't as far away as it look in the photos , and also I wouldn't say its a bookies benefit either. Yeah the final was the outsider but generally doesnt take much at all to land a good priced winner around there.
