As many have said on here about Towcester, it's an absolutely dreadful track.
If someone had told me, say 2 years ago, that during the 2022 English Derby I would not have any ante post vouchers on the go nor even had a single bet throughout the entire competition then I would have to assume that I had lost my marbles and the men in white coats had finally come for me. |
By:
I was only really just waiting for the marathons.
By:
i did go to every derby final not now at tow , its a long drive .its to costly now as well r.i p.tow
By:
I'm much the same as the majority only missed two of the last twewnty at plough lane, i've never been to Towcester but all my mates went couple of years ago and all said never again that was enough for me, still love Hove and try and go once every few weeks.
By:
I like Hove as well, no doubt I'll go a few times this Summer. We have a place in Littlehampton so not too far from there.

1.savanna beau 2.kildare 3.hello hammond 4.romeo magico 5.mickeys barrett 6.priceless jet. i think the draw best suits kildare
By:
on the draw, i agree about kildare. but who can have a bet there, without knowing what that maniac of a man is going to do to the track?
By:
if hello hammond is an 8/1 poke I'm a chinaman
By:
£52 quid waiting to be taken @ 7.8 wonders.

By:
It's not mine b.t.w. !

Sb were there any positives from your Towcester Visit, or was it the whole experience, the buzzing atmosphere just doesn't seem to come across on tv.
By:
I haven't been to the Derby since Wimbledon shut but £30 entrance money seems a bit over the top especially as it's in the arse end of nowhere.
At the prices i'd be backing Jet especially as no rain is forecast. |
By:
just happened to see a greyhound race on TV from Newcastle on the horse racing channel. Betting 113% over round the top 4 in the betting. The 14/1 outsider beat the 10/1 shot. No wonder the sport is struggling!
By:
The problem with Towcester track is that basically it’s shaped like a large scale Romford
Mind you the cockerneys love it there too, gawds only knows, why, another bookmakers paradise, unless of course your name is Ray…… |
By:
I very much doubt that the "cockneys" love it, shropshire.
By:
be glad when derby gone all we get on rpgtv is repeats and they will be showing it all next week
By:
Year IMO
By:
I've never been to Romford, only once to Catford. It was quite a journey from West London and Catford was much sharper than even Wimbledon or Walthamstow.
I like Tp4: coffin box though; needs to clear 1st bend or be 2nd post; 6 & 2 are dangers. Is it being shown live here or RPGTV? |
By:
Yes Impossible, Towcester is on RPGTV tomorrow.
First race 18.04, last is 21.40. The final itself is @ 21.15. I've not had a bet all competition but if pressed I'd just favour Kildare to get the run. |

I will back the rag
A great and very profitable bet over the years My only contribution this year ....and the only race I will have seen Shame really Its gone to pot since the bookies took over |

This has to be all time low for the Derby and a crying shame after all those wonderful years of top class finals in front of massive crowds . To think that 92,000 people attended the 1939 final and here is some facts telling us just how far the decline of the sport has travelled.
"A general trend of dwindling attendances has had a clear knock-on effect to the number of greyhound tracks still active today. The stats are alarming. In 1946, for example, which came a matter of months after the end of the Second World War, the total annual attendance for greyhound meetings in the UK topped 70 million, with nearly £200 million wagered per year. In 2017, attendances were down to just two million with just £75 million spent on the various bet types available. Arguably most troubling is that there are just 21 licensed tracks in England and Scotland – down from 77 licensed premises and 200 independent tracks in the 1940s, with Harlow and Crayford the only tracks within spitting distance of the sport’s spiritual home in London. Seventy years ago, there were 33 independent dog tracks in the capital alone, but the demise of Wimbledon and Walthamstow has been indicative of the issues that organisers face". |

If Beau wins Irish Its time to pack the Game up Mate , Not far off it as it is ,But that would some the Game up ..

By:
Just £259 matched on here so far for the Derby!
By:
Such a shame what’s happened but at least us old boys have some great memories, I know stuffing one has been going on for yonks but when you see one where a dog been running out of its skin then lead tonight and fall in hole before half way you just have to knock it one the head and I never indulge in the race, gonna go against all my beliefs tomorrow night and punt Callmesteve and 3 in final 2 and 3 places and will not bet there again
By:
Dept there was a bit of Holding Dogs back , There was a few Blatant crooked runs , But nothing as to what is going on these days
BF is a licence to print for Some ... The games gone mate . Long gone ,Between Nailed and lame dogs Running its hard to Fathom What is Going on . That's a new Market Sparrow Not been up Long , think Was 38 k Matched on the AP Market here , Unreal, be far more matched on the race tonight ,It sums up what has happened to the Derby ,Little or no interest on here .. |
By:
re: the Derby I hope Beau wins for Irish How that will come about Would need Einstine Involved
![]() G luck to all Finalists , safe and Sound . Anyone lay me a Thousand the Traps don't Open ? |
By:
Yes I forgot about the ante-post market case so perhaps a more lively market available tonight. Mind you I'm not one to bet 24 hours before the off and more like 24 minutes will be soon enough for me. I wonder if all those who used to post on here and attended the final will be there tonight?
By:
Have the 'rag ' at 110 in tiny ew , which will do me . Have still enjoyed the competition despite the track problems and getting one out of half a dozen through is always the aim . Yes I also preferred White City and the Don .
By:
Ivy 7/2 in first race run ok monmore comeback this in his range surly
And guiri Steve 6/1 **** me I made it 2 poke at best running off it’s nut imo |
By:
the final is a good race tonight......no dog has a bad draw and many have put in decent performances capable of winning the race.....including the stayers......there should be a strong market in my opinion and will probably be in the region of £60k+......

Would be great and comical it savana beau lead up and the hare stopped at the third bend
![]() Taxi for Towcester Get the derby to Central Park 500 m ![]() Different gravy ![]() |
By:
Henry would kick fook out of the Hare Driver Rav .
By:
savana should be 33t1 plus cant pick up 2 or 4 if one of them lead and cant pick up 3 or 6 so for it to win you need a pile up at the 1st bend i put it in at 100t1 be happy to lay the dog
By:
1 in match bet with 5 is massive @ 5/4 imo
By:
5 got to smash to clear 2 or 4 & in wrong box to do that
if cant do that will have 3 moving off at the bend then 5 prob finish last 1 got barn door on inside to do 29.40-29.50 finish 3rd/4th |
By:
You are all forgetting this is Towcester. Anything can happen, like making Ed look like a raving screw at the third bend or priceless jet looking like Jimmy Lollie from the traps
![]() |
By:
What firm that with wonders?
By:
We all know it’s a “funny” track but I shall still watch
I fancy ROMEO MAGIC to win it and I could see traps 1 or 6 following him home for the forecast. For modest stakes also I like BOCKOS BUDSIT INNFIELD TROJAN BELLEMORE SALLY All the best |
