First round Derby nights at White City and Wimbledon were one of the best nights racing , with loads of chances for some of the less well known rags . We had one with Paddy Milligan that trialled and got a 33s quote but never started due to injury , nearest we ever got .Have just the two Wides left , but will be happy with a final spot .

I'm sure Seamus apprenticed/started out with Paddy Milligan. Not a bad training!

I can remember seeing Paddy Milligans Gayflash winning the Gold Collar at Catford in 1979, I was 12 at the time!

Slippy , my mate and I bought Albert Stammers old shop in Slade Green and Gayflash owner bet there , brought Collar trophy in , might have brought the dog in too . I was only in it for 2 years , worked for a bank at the time and somebody shopped me , so would have got the tick tack , happy days mind .

Falcon through for me at 30s from mine (posted on this thread a couple months back) but I don’t fancy him at all in the final.
Good luck all |

i have to say I only joined thread ahead of final because old manchester with his portfolio including all 192 runners did my head in!!
I played romeo magico, priceless jet, signet ace and thorn falcon - was guaranteed 6 in the final after saturday, was hoping deerjet was 3-4-5 rather than 2 but considering newinn is in 1 then having deerjet on his outside will hopefully scupper both of them and if so then I'd be hopeful falcon could deal with the rest of the field. hard to understand how ballymac fairone is now fav with thorn falcon at 3x the price considering only 2 races ago, falcon beat him easily, hoping history repeats!! gl all |

Can’t have falcon on my mind in fact think lion got more chance
Fairone as smash box his to lose |
|
By:
deerjet sydney has to be the percentage call both 1 and 3 can break both got fantastic breaks in the semis can they repeat it? i have my doubts where as the 2 is consistently getting away , so im getting on the blue . best of luck with your bets

Fairone looks like he is peaking at the right time.

I'm solid with Deerjet Sydney Thorn Falcon, I've had to get Fairone onside as well for a win/cover after that semi final win. The draw looks good and I'm still favouring Deerjet Sydney to get it right on Saturday.

Loyal Not sure why you are digging PL out mate , Proper dog man TBH , He got a bit carried away with the Comms , I myself think a few beers involved as well
![]() He used to post on here back in the day ... My thoughts on the Derby Night Racing was very good strangely had dogs running very well from off the back in a few races would give the whole evening racing wise 9/10 as opposed to my 5/10 over the whole derby Downer was Maestro, A dog looked the derby winner a couple of weeks back ,What I find strange is they did not , or have to, retrial him after the last run ,He was paceless there was summat seriously amiss , why would you run the dog again without a trial ? What was said after his last run ? |

was at hamilton races but saw the marathon and derby final in betting shop on way home, some runs from both volcano and falcon, 29.06 well didn't expect that although pat always hinted that a fast break and he'd be gone, to pick up and fly past on the outside a dog like lion, well let's hope falcon is back for a repeat bid next year

I believe he was once RM at Crayford? Is that right? I don't like the guy, simple as that. I don't like his history, I don't like his ripping up Towcester five years ago on the tv and now as meek as a lamb, taking their dosh. I praised his commentary work during the event but that last night was just treating us all with contempt. I think he believes he;s God's gift to the game. If he was chocolate he'd eat himself. People talk about the "gravy trainers", well for me he's one.
