I agree with you wedge but that is true of at least 75 of the others.  I like their strategy.  Even now the Derby could be stopped mid-stream so go for the immediate then hope for the best.   He's drawn a pretty soft heat so should progress and he looks full of stamina. If he gets another softish heat after eight days rest,....... Aren't the Keightleys ready to retire soon?  So they're having some sport with the dog and best wishes to them.  And you.

I think in a normal year with 100k to winner there would of been an argument to aim at the derby & give the 3 steps a miss but with only 50k on offer you have to take the 10k & hope for the best.
Hopefully the dog is ok.
