Knew it would happen....if a respected figure has say 60 quid with them at an early price of 2/1 (that is how cheap they get there card), that then, within a second goes back on the machine at 3.25 for same stake to get them 1/4 of a point and then form the crippled show on Betfair....and that is why Betfair has lost it's use. By first show it has already got an inspired card and it costs the firm's peanuts to do it!

Like Doc said previous, if you were very good, would you mark the card for £60 to harm yourself later?

The bookmakers introduced their early markets long before betfair and the same reason applied.
Early warning system to get their cards marked cheaply.

Why would a well respected judge be bothered having pennies on at 2/1? Surely better not having any money with the books and having a proper bet at the price on here. A price that won’t have been harmed by “marking” the books card....

because they know that if they didnt takethe price someone else will the earlies are the ruination of the game im afraid must be nice to get there cards marked for pennies

shiner is correct about the early markets ruining the game.
It would be far better for punters if the markets were not open until an hour before the meeting starts and no worries about non runners either.

true but the genie is out the bottle im afraid they saw how good for them getting there cards marked on the horses the day before was and from there point of view it makes good business sense

if you can get 500t100 knowing it be 5t2 what are you going to do leave it
Report dr . atkins June 16, 2020 6:41 PM BST
that's the trouble with the game you can't blame people for playing if they can get on, a dog today 2t1 on off 1.72 on here the sp 4t7
Report shiner June 16, 2020 7:38 PM BST
exactly there lies the problem

exactly doc...and it goes without saying that you don't want to be betting 5/2 about 5/2 chances

take what you can while you can & then when the options dry up, stop or play on here, thems the choices

Report shiner June 16, 2020 7:39 PM BST
win or lose thats the end of account
Report dr . atkins June 16, 2020 8:06 PM BST
from a bookmakers point of view i agree its best thing to happen to them, they let 365 go up see them fall then put prices up i thought you would still have a chance in the betting shops with opening show if can get on i may be wrong with that but will see in next few weeks

If people can’t make it pay when betting on here to 102/03% then perhaps not as good judges as they think...? If they didn’t have early shows, there would be far more liquidity on here earlier and the now standard practice of withdrawing a runner when people have taken advantage of a rick would stop....
