The Derby is the only reason Kevin has an interest. SIS are on the case and have allegedly made payments outstanding to Towcester trainers. Good start and Kevin, with his experience , would be able to handle the greyhound side of things. But who would he bring in to handle the off-the track business ? Too many slippery people with dubious track records skulking around behind the scenes. Slightly surprised Kevin would entertain these folks, but he cannot do it all himself, as he mainly does presently at Henlow.

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has been liaising with representatives of Fermor Land LLP, the new owners of Towcester, since late 2018 as they have been assessing the options for the future of the course. As an autonomous commercial entity, the decision as to the future of Towcester Racecourse and its fixtures lies with the owners. Having been informed by Towcester’s owners of their decision to close the course the BHA has assisted in its capacity as the licence issuing authority to ensure the sale of its racecourse fixtures, with the owners deciding to sell these to Arena Racing Company (ARC). The sale has been ratified by the BHA Board and the BHA will now work with ARC to re-distribute Towcester’s future fixtures. Richard Wayman, Chief Operating Officer of the BHA, said: “We are saddened to see the closure of Towcester, a popular racecourse which will undoubtedly have created fond memories for many racing fans and participants. “We had hoped, following the course going into administration in August 2018, that the new owners might find a solution which allowed for racing to resume at Towcester, and it is disappointing that has not proved possible. The BHA will now work with ARC to find the most suitable venues for the ten fixtures involved, which will all remain over Jumps. “From championship racing to grassroots, Jump racing is a huge asset to British sport, with a growing base of loyal and knowledgeable supporters. The general outlook is a positive one and we will continue to work with parties across the industry to ensure that Jump racing in Britain goes from strength to strength in the future.” Notes to editors: As Fermor Land LLP is not a licensed racecourse operator, the sale has been approved on an exceptional basis only, following discussions with the Racecourse Association.
