Couldn't believe it when I saw Reg coming back at Vic near the line.  Still can't quite work out what happened?!  Farren in red would have been a handful but King, Reg and Vic have all raced consistently well here.  If King had another length in hand, I'd go with him - he's looked like he runs the rails well.  I can't pick the winner so will just watch.

My ante post is out. Will probably av a small bet on dropzone
at a big price. Think btwn reg n dropzone for the lead. If reg not foot perfect start dropzone will clear. Take my chances from the front.

Well I suppose it's saved me a lot of time doing the card See Pat has brought over Droopys Steel, dog has blinding 4 bend early and did win a sprint around SPK but needed all of the run up to just barely force his way through on the rail, has not had a look around either.

How long is the Shawfield sprint run up ?

black farren will ping and draw clear

Full length back straight. Good sprint. Boxes different as well p.f. not sure if it was last year or not sure it was pats had crown jewels on. It got emptied. Missed  kick bad flew up got done.

Sprint not great. Couple o them trialled last week. Big advantage. Only fair dogs.

Factotum boy buckleys dog in sprint last year. S.p. 2/5 i remember givin it a bleaching. Clearly best in race. But left it in big time.

woody, you, me and uncle tom cobley might know the owner but we all worked that the dog had early pace a long time ago without needing to know the owner.

I've long defended Shawfield as they have kept greyhound racing going in Scotland, against all the odds and privations that they suffer - not least being not having a spare tin of paint ( as suggested elsewhere ) - but fair is fair and this has to be the poorest supporting card I have ever seen for the Scottish Derby.  Top marks to all those trainers and connections who have travelled hundreds and hundreds of miles to support the event.  I can't seeing it going on much longer personally.

Have to agree with Loyal Honcho regarding the undercard.  As bad as I have ever seen and not one race further than 4 bends. It can only be a matter of time.

Not sure why Reg is fav in a place or two now, with speed around. So, gone in again at 11/4 Vic. Surge seal it if turning handy

Against fav if track not bin watered in pl mrkt also gazilly pl mrkt. Both b odds on. Get 1 beat get money. Both beat win a watch. Small bet dropzone in final. Will be wrong price, reg makes a mistake at start dropzone massive player. If 4 an 5 break normally fav will be in a world of hurt. U never know with the old gaffer tho. Apart from Vic have a bang,  a very clean race, which was a relief! The clean race produced good figures with Black Farren beaten last in a respectable 29:54 (not bad for a pace hound), respect to the racing manager who keeps the going allowance at a respectable level, unlike other tracks who do seem to tell the odd white lie or two, Sheffield, etc

Vic hit the lids last week carnage, a very unlikely event for Vic, at this level, obviously, a little slower out stumbled in final and took a nasty buffer at the corner in final, Vic is a super hound with the ability to move wide of trouble (dog with a brain) and exciting to watch.

Could not help but think Vic and Reg ran final in the semi, but it was Reg who popped um open in the final, these two hounds are incredibly tough and brilliant effort by both trainers keeping them in top form.

It would not be right to not comment on Dropzone, who for my money improved quietly throughout the comp, actually hit the lids in final and ran yet another game race, many things can be said about Dropzone and perhaps one word would be infuriating, but what a great competition hound!

Very much agree john.  Could easily win three heats in the Derby given a run of draws.  We'd all love a dog of such genuine ability, that's for sure.

An enjoyable day that was, good company, some amount of beer downed and cleared a good few quid on the comp, can't complain
