All this talk of Towcester, Newcastle and Hove. What's wrong with Sheffield or Belle Vue, tbh?

If Towcestor gets it will be a total disaster

Rubbish racing

Betting turnover will drop drastically compared with Wimbledon

Also noticed Towcestor camera work seems much more zoomed in now so you can't see the back dogs much

Must be trying for a bags contract again Laugh

Wales would know. Think it's similar design to Wimbledon (both GRA). Far side Chieftain stand long since knocked down but large restaurant and excellent view from ample-sized grandstand. Loads of room outside going right round to first bend. Downstairs bar can cater for quite a lot and outside bar, too

You can't possibly consider giving it to a GRA track. We need to know that there's half a chance of the stadium being there in a year or two.

Belle Vue has a capacity of 4,100 but the bookmakers can only accommodate about 10 decent punters.

BV...oaks/laurels last year ground was an utter disgrace, wide runners forget it, decent run to the bend a massive +ve but many many better tracks about imo

pretty irrelevant though as GRA tracks have already been ruled out by the GRA and in any case it would be morally sickening to hold the derby at another track in which those lowlife counts are involved

It was an utter disgrace
Was treated disgracefully by city centre bookies
The track was empty , chapman was prancing about on empty terraces
The glenamaddy gang were stuck at knock airport and the food was poor
No way this year

Dont know why so much doom and gloom on here. Greyhound racing has surely seen the biggest decline of any sport in the UK over the last 30 years but the Derby switch offers some hope.

I think a Derby at a `new' track will be a big boost for the sport. Wimbledon has been a complete and utter ****e since moved to the other side. The sport had little chance to progress whilst its flagship competition was held there.

There is now a chance for the sports showpiece to be at a track with up-to-date facilities, new sponsors, better marketing, innovations, bigger crowds etc Something on and off the sand the sport can be proud of.

I believe the Derby should be run over 500m at Hove or Towcester.

I have no doubt whatsoever that for the good of the sport Towcester should get the Derby. Their business
plan is based on freeing themselves from bookie control; They are completely open with their trainers; gambles are not looked upon as the plague; everything about the place shouts class; they invest in their product; they attract exellence in trainers; viewing and facilities are excellent; the setting beautiful but still atmospheric and the lighting outstanding. The only negative is the shape of the track but their has been no decernable bias over the last 2/3 months with regards to traps and they will continue to tinker.

From a personal point of view I would love it to go to Hove. I can walk their from my pit! Move the winning line back 15 metres and happy days. It is a very similar distance to travel from the north as Wimbledon. It is the best place in the UK for a weekend/night out. The weather is generally decent in the summer. The facilities are decent and would be upgraded if it got the Derby.

I think Monmore is is just too small to accommodate big crowds and their track bias' are an embarrassment.

I would love the derby at Hove but I am convinced for the good of the sport it must go to Towcester. However, the GBGB/greyhound racing is funded almost exclusively through the big bookmaker chains and I cant see them giving Towcester the chance to show what could be done with the sport.

Hove 500 m with line moved back 15 m would work

Though I am rubbish at picking winners at hove for some reason

You post on Towcestor though misses the massive problems with the track

Far toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo wide

And straights far tooooooooooooooooooooooooo short

Dig the track up and start again

Not sure if corals that bothered about having the derby though too must hassle

Just prefer to stage A10 hangers and plodders races for BAGS cannon fodder racing

Monmore is more susceptible to track maintenance than wimbledon ever was. Check out today's bias

Cant have it at hove people go on about hove but its not for me and towcester unless they do something about the bends no way they should have the derby

major stumbling block irish, however if monmore was re-laid and the new surface was decent then monmore 480 would be a runner
