I think that would be a good option. Lets hope Ladbrokes pick up the mantle dropped by William Hills.

I would be surprised if Ladbrokes came up with the 300 bags required.

Why on earth people stick with this Sport i don't know,(well i do really) i've got 1 dog
left & i certainly won't ever be buying another, 30 years of buying dogs since
& i was 16 & i will quite easily walk away

the guidance & decline of the Sport is disgraceful & the people running it now
you wouldn't trust them as far as you could throw them.

To me this isn't Greyhound racing now, i get more of a buzz out of memories & prefer
to remember how things once was be it Hackney bags or Walthamstow/Haringey/Wembley or great dogs
like Curryhills Gara / Ard Knock / Farncombe Black etc

If Hove was considered as a permanent home for the Derby perhaps they could create a 480m circuit used only for the Derby which could introduce a second finishing line to allow the full length run to the bend. If the trip remained at 515 it removes the sprinters completely which would be a shame for those runners who are just short of the trip but have a leaders chance.

If it was to go to Hove there is no way it would be from the 475 boxes. It would be from the 515 traps with a shortened run in.

the way this game is going maybe the potential sponsors would like a 475 derby...I guess they'd also like it if hove could dig out those old crocks of sheit they used to start the 475s from SadDevil

this place with the derby?

look at these going allowances, either the surface is a joke or the racing office is.

the reason why hove won't get the derby is location and the only way they could get it is if someone put up 150,000 to sponsor the event at the track

monmore would need re-laying to be a runner for me
however as crayford was recently done that isn't out of the question I guess especially if lads become a prominent sponsor

Hove would have to do something it distance.. 515m too far....475m too short a run to the bend imo

Plenty of tracks will want it...guaranteed crowd
By:

I am sure Stephen Rea say he owns the right to the Greyhound Derby' name?

He says he will give it to the track he thinks most appropriate...I seem to remember this?

I don't know how much money the track would be expected to come up with?

Why not RPGTV headline the sponsorship with all those bookmakers who sponsor the show (including betfair) paying an equal contribution. Broadcast all rounds on the channel, have the final at 10pm like it should have always remained and its up to the sponsors to take a bet to recover the sponsorship costs. Surely it cant be that difficult.

Apologies to ebulgery as I read his post wrong.
Missed the "run to the bend" part in the 475m trip.

I guessed that SparrowHappy

Without the Stow what track can do 475?

Possibly Belle Vue can squeeze out another 5 metres, and it is GRA, too far North for me

I think Monmore must come into it, central, a modern track, very fast 480

be honest theres only 2 tracks towcester and hove but if coventry was about i would make it odds on dont know why all the major bookmakers  dont buy coventry all the profit its makes all year goes to retired greyhound homes all round the country and they can have the greyhound derby there forever

they haven't bought it because they are businesses and interested in 1 thing only...making money

HF poured fortunes into that stadium to get it up and running, there just simply isn't the money or interest in greyhound racing to justify it...sad but true

yes, location is everything, Monmore is central, good public transport - Trains less than five minute bus ride, also it is a city location, and that is where greyhound racing should concentrate its interests.
