At first i was really impressed and delighted with the run of Bubbly Turbo but looking back at the race i think he was somewhat flattered. Yes he did still run well but the lead he had going into the corner had just as much to do with what happened to others on the run up as the early pace he showed. Ballymac Shirley didn't come away running from 4 and wanted to go right and in behind Turbo. Blue Cafu and Castell Henry where drawn the wrong way around and constantly came together on the run up. Then on the 3rd bend Blue Cafu and Ballymac Shirley came together which led to Ballymac Shirley not qualifying.
I also think some have gone over the top with Hiya Butt last night, again he ran well after not coming away but looking at the heat there was hardly blistering early in the race and Ballymac Darragh held up Face The Blade run up who could not get around him until on the corner and Dragon Overload cannoned into Ballymac Darragh. Also Shutthefrontdoor moved a bit right early intimidating Calco Flyer and left a huge hole along the fence for Hiya Butt to exploit with his early pace. I am also confident Calco Flyer would have beaten Hiya Butt had he not been forced to check on the 3rd and even then i think he could still have beat him had Shutthefrontdoor not ruined his chances when falling between the last 2 bends and hampering him. Droopys Latina wanted the fence but then did not run the 1st bend well, his pace from the 2nd to the run in was absolutely stunning. Not much to say about Matt, simply done everything right. Boyneside Fun i think was having some fun 2 to 3 but the race was well over by the 2nd. Blakes Turbo if he could ever learn to trap could go deeper in the comp with his early but average away good up is not going to cut it for him. How well is Southfield Jock running? |

Although it ran an absolute belter from virtually in row z, there being a lack of wide seeds along with its style of running, im of the same opinion about Jet and think 8/1 10/1 is miles too short especially with it now possibly having to run 5 times within 3 weeks to land the odds. If it qualify's in the run off and its long odds onto do so it could be 5th or 6th into the bend for the next four rounds and i just think theres too many good dogs left in the competition to keep back running along with it avoiding trouble spots along the way. I hope it proves me wrong as you cant beat watching class dogs coming from well off the pace out running good fields. GL.

Poor old Panda, just watched it again and he seemed to have got distracted or lost the hare going into the third bend, a lot went on around that part of the track last night and then to see him go wrong turning for home was awful. I must also say at that pace first time round the commentator cant be slaughtered for saying he got swallowed up as the poor thing did due to the injury of which describing speedsters doing 28 seconds isnt the easiest of tasks especially if the leader is well in front and your looking at the runners behind.

I know that this run-off is a rare occurrence, but what on earth would they do if there was a dead heat in the 3rd round or in one of the quarter finals?
|
|
By:
Rule 90 Dead-heat for qualifying place
When two or more Greyhounds dead heat for a place in an eliminating round for a Race, which qualifies a lesser number of them for the next round, either: i Subject to there being at least three clear Days after the Race concerned before the first or only Day of the next round, the Greyhounds shall run off in a Trial or Match Race within 2 Days after the Race concerned over the same course and distance from the same starting positions. (For example if the Race is on a Monday and the next round does not commence before Friday, the run-off may take place on the Tuesday or Wednesday). Only if all runners engaged in the run-off are of the same Seeding classification under Rule 79, shall the trap draw for the next round take place prior to the run-off, in which case blanks shall be included in the draw. Otherwise the trap draw shall be made after the run-off. or ii If the Owners of the Greyhounds in the dead heat agree and request it, the Local Stewards shall decide by lot which Greyhound(s) shall go forward. The loser(s) of the run-off or such lottery shall be allowed to stand as Reserve(s)for the ensuing round, and may be allowed to compete if their classification permits their inclusion. That's the rule, does that mean they can not run off then and have to go with a coin toss |

Thanks PF - So am I right in thinking that, as there aren't 3 clear days between 3rd round (Sat) and quarters (Tue) a coin toss could be enforced?
