Agree with PF. Apart from about the top dozen, the rest hardly superstar quality. Best hopes for me Roddick, Jaytee Jet, Eden, Panda and Brogan. Would be very happy with any of those, but biggest payout Domino

Where it matters yes, but a long way to travel not for the Derby itself. Right way to do it giving a dog a look but don't think they should have scrapped the trial stakes elsewhere

Instead of pumping your mickeys why don't ye lads do a bit of research and look at the last ten winners of the derby ? Only two of them took part in these derby trial stakes , Salad Dodger was the last . How the feck is that the right way to do it ?

literally no idea PF, its always been Weds, last session of trials and the entries close with no further trial stakes, I know its an earlier Derby this year but everyone has known that for 11 months.
Will be quite a few withdrawals I expect.

Fairly sure you get your money back up until the draw of the first round, maybe even up until the first round runs so I can see a few fancying their £250 back...

you get your money back if you withdraw before the draw on Sunday. If your name goes in the hat then you don't get your money back even if you don't make the first round - we had it happen to us about 5 year ago when we entered a bitch and she then broke in season 4 days before the first round but 3 days after the draw - no refund.

Although he won the Juvenile, Ramsey too reliant on rails needed T1 every round, while Mossjoe not suited to Wimbledon. Interesting to see Kelly due to come down

It's an astonishing decision not to enter Ramsey in my opinion, won 3 from 5 at Wimbledon (win Juvenile and made Puppy Derby final) granted his three wins where from trap 1
I am not trying to tell the Draper's where to run their dog (they've forgotten more than I will ever know) but the dog is going to be rails dependent wherever he goes and at least we know he does run Wimbledon well.
Where does he go next? In all comps he will have the same problem, run on one offs and hope you get a favourable draw ??
I'm amazed to be honest big it's their dog (and Perer Band) and they're entitled to run where they wish.

I get the argument that he is rails dependant and given that the derby is rails heavy he is likely to get a bad draw at some point but how many other dogs could you say the same about?? droopys buick for 1...don't see them throwing the toys out of the pram
especially with the prize money better distributed now it is an absolutely bonkers decision to miss the derby, however it is the owner's right

Pagan Swallow tribute with the trial stakes tomorrow night. None of my antepost dogs running, but think Ballymac Shirley/Toolmaker Scot and Southfield Jock/Droopys Latina interesting clashes. Will be keeping an eye on Millwards Whitey, Aimnfire and Roswell Iceman. Badabing caught my eye finishing very well recently, but not sure if he'll catch Clondoty Alex

Personlly, good for the heart but poor for the comp. Still got a few bitches i want beat tho. but they dont come close to what twilight was taking out. No loud celebration or fist pump, just a pencil line through another name.

If you clock settings, the cog up on the top right below your balance, a box turns up. click and unclick include settled bets so you can see what your actual position is and what it is going forward.

Hills confirmed it will be running the popular ‘Second Chance' offer whereby punters placing outright bets on the Classic only to see them eliminated in round one will get money back as a free bet up to £100 to place on another greyhound before the second round. Eligible bets are those struck after the closing point of the Derby at noon last Tuesday (April 26) up until the start of the first round.

I know its only abut qualifying at the moment but will be very surprised if Brogan doesn't win Friday, as Viking Jack running poorly at Sheffield and should have even been entered, imo
Heat 20 with only 2 through is a biggie: Buick, Cloran, Diego and Gyp. Plenty of antepost slips up in smoke certain here Heat 22 tricky with only 2 through also, although not to much big names Heat 23 no margin for error either with just a brace qualifying Heat 24 tight with Coolavanny Pat, Jock and Master but all 3 could progress Heat 25 Tosh v Sanchez interesting Heat 26 loaded with useful dogs and your guess is as good as mine which 2 prevail
Gooch lucky to be running and Boyneside another where an accident could just be waiting to happen

7/1 Eden The Kid and 10/1 Jaytee Jet look plenty short enough at the moment. I know Eden runs Wimbo superbly but also did at Shawfield first round. Semis and final there not so hot, though. So, on the balance of form, wouldn't touch him with a barge pole 7/1 at this juncture, but happy with 40/1
Jet lacks a shade of early prowess and again, 10/1 not very attractive. Got 66/1 though
The dog for me at the moment is 16/1 Jaytee Spartacus
Elsewhere, I could be interested in a few at 25/1 Hiya Butt, Roxholme Barkley and Jaytee Dutch
Bigger 80/1 Twiggy, 115 Boom and 130 Alert, but happy with my team as it stands
What price a Jaytee winner of the Derby, anyone?
Cheers!

How is 10s Jaytee Jet not attractive? I will take all your money out of the dog (that you bet at 66s) at 10s seems as you deem that under his true chances

Just think he will get caught out early one round, bumped and out. Long way to go. Hope I'm wrong
Keep thinking back to the quick runs for Eden last year. Know he was only a puppy then, but he couldn't stand up after the semis, could he?

You've nearly got it now Woody, he is by no means a penalty kick on Saturday, he should win and you'd be disguised where he not to qualify. We've only got 18 or 19 (w)s now left, lose another 10 of them this week (fair chance of happening) and then he is guaranteed 6 again as a sole wide in a heat and he conceivably could have it like that for the rest of the Derby

Think 4/1 Droopys Roddick a good price to approach something like his 27.97 Puppy Derby form. Cant be having Jaytee Jet at a short 7/4. He's not getting any quicker with sluggish starting and strictly speaking, held by Roddick on semi form. 11/4 Lenson Rocky short, too. Has less than an equal chance as 10/1 Cloran Paddy on quarter-final form and there's also the Lister factor. 8/1 Hiya Butt's draw is all against him, needs to ping to clear but still unlikely to hold on, unless traffic problems behind. Think you could find worse 33/1 each-way chances than Peregrine Falcon, but I got 249/1 already
Scores on the doors: Roddick (excellent win) Jet or Peregrine (good win) Any other winner (break even)

Excellent, star-studded finals night programme. Just a few highlights:
Sprint, Ballybee Brewery v Suirside Leah and Glenanore Ace Standard, Southfield Jock v California and Shaneboy Freddie Stayers, worthy of a Leger final with mainly Fizzypop Buddy and Diego Flight Dorando, Roxholme Magic and Ribble Atom Then, the 3 finals Ballymac Brogan v Making Paper and Barricane Bullet Anglo-Irish Invitation, Roswell Iceman v Boyneside Fun. If you can spot an Irish dog, youre a better man than me! Seniors, On Alert v Blackstone Marco, King Dec British Bred, Eden The Kid v Calco Flyer and Old Joe Golden
Might have to miss the last two races, coz getting the red-eye home

it was, i did. Jet was still my worst result but the difference between 2nd-3-4-5-6 results wasn't that great in the end and playing safe sadly paid off.
Still wanted roddick and topped up at 8/1 winning under 2 lengths. Won close to 7k but less than £50 on here. Roddick was about 12 in the end :-(
Roll on English Derby 2017...hopefully at wimbledon?
2016 just needed a few 1/100ths either way at various times and could have been so much better.
