Loads all of which have already mentioned. Catford was the real killer though and when Walthamstow closed that was the nail in the coffin for me to ever be an owner again. Cry

Unfortunately it has become a case of not just remembering the Tracks that have closed it's almost simply a case of remembering almost all the tracks you've visited. It makes me feel quite depressed! For me the obvious stand out is Walthamstow not just because it was by far the best atmosphere, especially on the big competition nights or it was the one track you could take non doggy friends to and know they would love it but because I still believe it could have stayed open and made a good return on investment! Just imagine how many people would now love to go on a Saturday night especially now there is pretty much no competition.

The less obvious option is Southend, although far from being a slick comfortable classy night out it had great racing (especially the Thursday Night Opens) and probably one of the best and safest circuits in the country (apart from on Boxing day mornings when they'd be tempted to run on frozen grass)!

Surprised not many mentions for Leicester stadium, a great galloping grass track. Mainly graded but there was one competition every year that caused huge excitement to see open class dogs. The Midland Grand Prix, I was working in the paddock when Rikasso Mick won it, think it did the clock. Connections gave me a tenner for making sure he was ok in the kennels. That was a fortune to a lad in those days.

I once went on an adventure to Cleethorpes with couple good dogs one open night just the once mind you. All hazy now like was then anyway one of the dogs was particularly useful anybody been there? Think it used to be near the pleasure beach. Remember same dog winning very well indeed not much after. Loved the flaps just something particularly nice about an evening at the dogs just was proper stuff.

Loved Askern sparrow don't know if you ever went there still do when I'm in the area which is few and far between few beers bit of betting nice summers evening follow the money in. Remember Whitwood never got on with Kinsley and Highgate what a place that was Mr D was a bookmaker there and Donnie dogs which was just so good on open nights and Xmas. Barry was the RM bookmakers Phil and Dibb Dibb Dibb and Terry what a man who had a dog called quick jump and after racing in the bar was fab. Was at Askern lunch time meet when Charlie married Di cannot remember much as that day progressed apart from drinking far too many cocktails they were the days.

Liberator......Although I have been to Kinsley, Wakefield and Halifax I am not a fan of flapping tracks. Living in the North my favourite track was Leeds but before that I was in London and my regular tracks being Clapton and Harringay.

@liberator  @netherton

The Yorkshire flaps were a big part of my life in the 70’s.

All the faces were known around the different tracks. In particular – Kinsley, Highgate, Askern, Whitwood, Barnsley, Doncaster, Stainforth . Same dog would have 7 different names, but the “faces knew”.
Kinsley was best betting track, and got the best NGRC dogs for their opens.
We had excursions to Oldham, Bolton, Westhoughton, Chesterfield and Long Eaton et al for a tickle.
Finding unknowns to take a dog in for a trial to get marked up, and when they knew it was ours someone to get the money on.
Getting on “behind the boards”
The grader keeping 20 pips on the grading time.
A game on it’s own – very happy days and nights.
Springfield Mickey was one of the top flapping open racers.
Sales at Hackney and Shelborne
My interest started before this at Leeds (Elland Road NGRC, Parkside flapping), Wakefield and 2 tracks in Bradford (one NGRC the other a flap)
I think that there may have been a track at Keighley, but couldn’t swear to it.

The flapping track at Cleethorpes was at Humberstone, next to a massive caravan park and a zoo – summer only.
