Baldie:
5/1 Conna Trigger
5/1 Take The Crown
7/1 Swift Hoffman
8/1 Candlelight King
8/1 Pay Freeze
8/1 Pinpoint Finas
12/1 Droopys Norris
14/1 Slick Sacremento
14/1 Viking Jack
16/1 Kildare Premier
16/1 Toolatetosell
16/1 Underground Paul
20/1 Billys Bullet
20/1 Farloe Striker
25/1 Bar

Pay Freeze won it last year and a match for anything when primed but has looked like a dog with problems in most recent races. Pinpoint Finas is very fast like joint fav Conna Trigger but 500m demanding. Take The Crown is very smart but would be looking for a bit of a bigger price, seeing as likely to be pitched between early paced rivals after first round cakewalk. Hove specialist Underground Paul had 3 races round here but yet to win. Track champion Candlelight King won the Harry Holmes Memorial but would be wanting a bigger payout against this calibre of opposition. Viking Jack is strong but may come too late

So,  by a process of elimination, waiting for biggest prices possible Swift Hoffman, a top class youngster and Droopys Norris, plotted first round

Good luck!

Still waiting for bigger. In the meantime, had my customary little play for peanuts on a very large outsider: 66/1 Swift Root, each-way. Only 5 wide seeds in the competition. She makes her mark early and trouble behind in races would aid her cause, if plugging on a bit better

Good luck!

10-1 the field surely

If Pay Freeze and Swift Hoffman are spot on, a tremendous race will surely be in prospect. Always rated Freeze but could still be under a cloud and betting interest in the Hoff antepost

Backed Candelight King tonight at 2/1. Sure the bookies at the track will be going nowhere near as large as that. He's quite irresistible round here and ought to get first run on strong Viking Jack.

Liking 6/5 Droopys Norris, tother antepost pick. Double pays, 5.32/1 with Billies. Wouldn't surprise me to see Swift Root going off like a scalded cat but Norris fast up the rails and has the class to assert

Conna Trigger is a pretty good virtually even money chance but Pinpoint Finas is very fast too and preferring to watch only. From a selfish point of view could do with the pair eliminated really for improved hopes antepost. Same with Take The Crown but looks like it will be plain sailing for him

Good luck!

Kelly two dogs

Can't see how 500m suit them
There in the same heat
Both ep dependent

Swift Hoffman just turned two
Step up in class see how he goes

Toolatetosell and viking jack the trip auto suit !

Underground Paul was immediately close up with early leader Swift Root and that was that, 28.71. Droopys Norris ruined his chances at the start, he's always slowly away and was never going to catch a leading Paul Sad.

McGiolla, 28.74, led from the T1 dog and soon well clear. The shock was long odds-on Take The Crown no impression on the winner.

The order was soon Pay Freeze, 28.85, Toolatetosell and Swift Hoffman and so it remained throughout.

Candlelight King soon settled the issue, 28.62 oi oi!, creditably, comfortably holding the running on Viking Jack, who made a good start.

Kildare Premier was headed early by World Record but led at the bend and a fair 28.94 winner.

Conna Trigger, 28.84, produced the fastest split of the round, 4.11, and was always holding kennelmate Pinpoint Finas who was eventually ran out of second by Lowgate Rock

Who is it who says 2 through from first round and 3 from semis? Never liked the idea and coz of it, Swift Hoffman out! Angry

not debating swift hoffman has got potential but I still rate newinn yolo above him, there is a lot of hype about hoffman based on a handful of flashy runs against inferior pups

Can't say I am surprised that swift Hoffman never took to Sheffield, the tracks all bends he wants long straights and sweeping bends, like monmore, Newcastle or Wimbledon

Was in the bookies a few weeks and misread the racing post, I took it as

Yolo running at Sheff
Hoff running at Newcastle

To me he ran them at the wrong tracks
By:

When: 17 Sep 14 19:11
You could be right about Hoff and Sheff, Ravage but his trial was very fast
By:

When: 17 Sep 14 20:13
Yer but being constantly on the turn with dogs on you're inside and a solo trial it's totally different

I had planned to back Kelly's dog antepost but with the hoff in bottled it
By:

On the turn or not, every chance behind Freeze but not up to trial standard
By:

When: 18 Sep 14 10:42
the bends at brough are a lot tighter than people give credit for and its not a track for wides, it wouldn't be hoffman's track at all

yolo will do ok there if they can get him middle draws to fetch him out as for all I said about the bends its a good gallop for 480

First Semi

Okay, Pay Freeze won the Select but basically, i've been backing an injured dog for some time, assuming Elaine had got him right. Trust him to bounce back in the heats! Viking Jack is running really well, stays strongly, sole wide seed and must have a very good chance of reaching the final. Underground Paul runs Sheffield/Hove and Romford/Shelbourne like chalk and cheese. Not the type personally like to get too involved with

Second Semi

500m is far enough for Conna Trigger but not surprised to see him outright favourite, especially on the back of a 4.11 aeroplane split.
Candlelight King (added him), Droopys Norris and Take The Crown. Perm any two from three for the final. Hope it's the first two named

Before you say it, not marking bookies cards. No prices mentioned and they already have antepost as a guide to semi betting, anyway

Good luck!

I think Mcgiolla looks well over priced outright & favour Candlelight King of the front two.

Clear candlelight ! So 5/2 let's hope the candles be lite up on the first turn

Good books for the semis, 103 and 106% over-round. I see they've dismissed Norris at 7/1, but more than a capable sort. Fairly significant bet at the start, similar to Southern Mesut but doesn't stay very well so needs to break the habit of a lifetime and actually come away!
By:

When: 23 Sep 14 22:55
Kildare Premier led from Viking Jack. Underground Paul behind but got up on the line after crowding between the front two and Toolatetosell. McGiolla bang there too. Pay Freeze still not right, imo.

Conna Trigger set sail for home early but was caught close home by Candlelight King (well done Fatty). Droopys Norris plugged on to also qualify, phew! Glad he's through with Candle. Take The Crown took a crashing fall. Looked very bad. Hope he's okay?

Baldie and draw:
7/4 Candle (T1)
2/1 Trigger (T6)
9/2 Paul (T4)
5/1 Viking (T5)
12/1 Premier (T2)
12/1 Norris (T3)

Think top up Norris, each-way and lay Candle for money back

Good luck!

Jeez not good

Freeze looked crippled again could not hold the bend and just checked for no reason

Had the crown jewels on trigger, reckoned the dog was staying the 500 m trip from its other runs but really faded badly, though it still did its time suppose
By:

When: 25 Sep 14 00:42
Wonders, don't know why you dislike an injured dog. Elaine will have tried to get him sound but just nt standing up to racing. She wouldn't really know til she tries with trials being excellent

As for your theory about ruining him winter months, he had 8 races December to March, but the fav for this competition and same trainer Candelight King had 12

Blows you out of the water, i'd say!

When only half a length and a neck separated them in the semis, could someone kindly tell to me why Candlelight King and Conna Trigger are 2/1, yet Droopys Norris 12/1?

Would be hopeful he can beat Kildare Premier up. Candle not so easy but that seems a large gulf in prices

By:

When: 25 Sep 14 12:39
Wasn't such a penalty when he was winning 18 out of 22 races but given up on him a while ago. Oh, thought you was talking about Pay Freeze. Re-Norris, done the business for me before - fingers crossed
By:

Don't think it's a particularly good card apart from the final and a few stars dotted about but done tissue anyway (First early prices always available with 365 from 5pm.) Think some will be strongly fancied and other races competitive. Will be interesting to me to see how last year's Derby winner Sidaz Jack copes over 500m.

Really looking forward to the final. Droopys Norris would be a big win by my standards. Got him each-way, that would be just half total antepost stakes back first four. Candelight King is running for double total stakes.

Bring it on! Laugh

Think there a huge runner 9.04
Can't play the front two that's for sure !

Nor the front two in 7.34
By:
woodmanchester
When: 30 Sep 14 08:54
7.34, Stayers. Lowgate Jasper useful when things go to plan but Mottos Mixer could be the fly in the ointment, stepping up

7.49, Puppies. Billys Bullet seems accident-prone to me, Saffrons Anna has potential but looks skinny, so i'd favour strong local Final Hawk.

8.04 Sprint. Very competitive but still think i'm missing something at the price of Pinpoint Finas, very fast. Mustang Blitz looks a fair price as does Bowtime Fella. Add United Leeds 7 out of 10, makes it a tremendous betting race

8.19 Marathon. No interest whatsoever now Aayamzabella withdrawn

8.34 Standard. Sure Lowgate Rock should be more or less same price as possible fav Sailor Jerry on their Conna Trigger lines of form. Farloe Striker may vie for favouritism, rated him highly originally but become a bit disappointing for my money

8.49 Bitches. Missing something here too with Domino Storm. No Swift Keith and a Yarmouth Derby to cope with here and had some very, very good dogs behind her. Think she's been under-rated and short fav Catrigg Croft over-rated on current form

9.04 Standard. Pretty sure Sidaz Jack will struggle to keep going in front and if Pay Freeze can edge matters at the bend, he could prove successful, despite doubts about having a niggle, as he did when winning the Select Stakes. With question marks over the front two, others are respected

9.19 Steel City Cup Final. Already dealt with. Personally, everything crossed for Droopys Norris

Bets:
10/3 Pinpoint Finas
9/2 Lowgate Rock
7/2 Domino Storm

Could be an excellent night

Good luck!

Droopys Gigi 100-30 Running at the top of game of late
Watched her beat up bitview Bugatti few weeks back,
Than last week  dish out the same again she stays well as very good
Middle in a race where most of the tough 660 locals else where at the moment

BAR MONROE 10/1  over priced IMO Cought my eye last week
Don't fancy the front two at all, think razor might be tapped for early pace
Monroe could get on jacks wing I think it could do him around home turn !

Non-Sky:
6.28 Prefer 7/2 Lochdara Blaize to odds on Bush Standard coz Whiterock nips out, rails and could nudge Bush early
6.44 5/4 Ballymac Daihi only seems to have Ridgemount Gump to beat. Could be a good forecast
7.01 Think 5/2 Clonkeen Snowy wrong. I got him much shorter
7.16 Maiden good thing 8/11 Geelo Midnight was formerly known as Tarbrook Taetoe when a Scottish Derby semi-finalist

9.40 Ryma Boca wins if reproducing her best form drawn very wide for a railer and short enough, so 9/2 Blissful Kate could spring the surprise
10.00 9/4 Swift Root will find this much easier than the Steel City Cup. Surely prominent throughout and may just do enough in the "getting out stakes"

Good luck!
