Think 5/6 Ballymac Eske could be buying money. Not an easy semi but would be long odds on to qualify, then cant see any of the other likely finalists staying 660m. Still, I got 5/2 so more than happy

Who wouldn't be worried after a year without a race but didn't know at the time just how many fast trials he'd had and come off sound. Hope this clarifies the contradiction

Elsewhere on the card, Ballymac Daihi has been showing lots of speed over 4 bends and could be fast enough to upset likely hotpot and local top sprinter United Leeds

Glenpadden Bolt would surely win at his best but very inconsistent, while Hipower Rhino got beat at Notts last night. May turn out a fair race to watch but personally, wouldn't be betting with counterfeit

BAGS Maidens will be shown in bookies in preference to a cracking race, featuring Hather George, Farloe Striker and Swift Perth

Ballymac Eske easily beat Whiterock and as expected, the final should be a straight-forward task

Brazen Knight won the other semi in determined style, fending off Droopys Dave

In the sprint, Ballymac Daihi prominent but took a crashing fall at the bend. Thankfully, ran round to the pick-up okay

Ballymac Eske cut to 25s for the Irish Derby on the back of a run 20 spots faster than Brazen Knight seriously pmsl

Think my only worry about Eske is the short run-up in the final. Whiterock capable of a fast start and Brazen Knight been popping out. If that's the case, not ideal that pair on Eske's inner with the traps very close to the bend. 480m or 500m certain Eske would lead by the turn but 660m much depends on break. Would be just about my biggest win of the year, so could be laying to cover total stakes on the competition

what i dont get woodie is you start this thread saying you would want 3/1 eske staying sound yet you bet him at 5/2 to win the comp which finishes over a trip hes never been over and were in june and its gunna be your biggest win of the year that is staggering

What I don't get Panda is why he spends a large proportion of his life trying to create situations in which he becomes the centre of attention. I think he craves our admiration . We all win and we all lose but boasting and pretension are a bit OTT for me !

Didn't have to be much to be my biggest win, just £40. As I said, hadn't realised Eske had ran that many trials soundly

Other nice wins for me: £35 Trickyone, £30 Candle/Odell dbl, £25 Freeze, £25 Nutter, £28 Digger. Looking back though, best was £58 Taquin

It don't matter how much anybody bets or doesn't bet, the point panda was making was that Woody said he would want 3/1 on Eske staying sound for the duration of the competition let alone to win it yet bet him at 5/2. He has since given his reasons for doing so (i don't agree with them but that's just my opinion) but i am sure what panda was getting at was with the doubts about Eske that Woody himself clearly had why then would you bet him to be your biggest winner of the year.

Nice to see the dog back anyway but personally would be absolutely shocked if he was to ever be as good as he once was

First run was vs trees but had a few decent dogs against him in 500m race, he could still win some decent races in England

I know Ravage. My mate, Brazen Knight's owner, fancied Whiterock antepost but i said no chance of getting 660m. He just said holding Aghaburren Paddy easily to the pick up before this competition started, decent. Not even sure Droopys Dave will get it. Knight the only one with winning form over 6 bends and 14/1. Sure Eske wins if not virtually put on the floor, though

Yeah Ravage, happy picking up the odd score and pony here and there. About £12 staked on Eske and my max bet these days would probably be £25, although i've gambled £50 twice. Most I ever won was £350 on a Trixie at Doncaster one night

According to the Racing Post the marathon race is scheduled for 7.19. That seems to mean no marathon televised and yet 2 two bend races covered.
Bad enough having 1 of those races, let alone 2 and the marathon missed.

Shame about the marathon but two very good sprints, including a puppy two-bender. Marathon only end up a battle of heads, as usual anyway with dogs reaching the end of their tether and looking around. Not natural to ask a dog to run in excess of 1000yds. They'll me running a mile next, ridiculous!

Incidentally, 0.57 miles is roughly 915 meters

When people attended the tracks in their thousands there was none of this 2 bend stuff. The sole exception was the Silver Salver run once a year at Southend. Does that not tell you something. As for marathons they have always popular with the average racegoer, but maybe the odd person that bothers to go now prefers a 2 bend race to some budding Scurlogue Champ coming along.

Main fancy of the supporting races would have been notebook dog Ballymac Dale but non runner now and wouldn't fancy 11/4 Ballymac Cairo quite so much.

Had a little bet 10/3 Candlelight King, coz don't think that price right if Take The Crown 4/5. Not that much between them, Candle may edge it early and despite spell off, inside the odds-on jolly, too.

Liked the look of La Maqina against Final Hawk before first early prices but 5/2 very short. Probably be able to beat 11/8 Droopys Hawaii too, while Big Thrill has prospects but 365 giving nothing away

Always liked Farloe Striker and will be having a stab if the price is right.

Good races prior to Sky coverage but i'll be driving home after the final. Got a vested interest in Ballymac Eske but would like my mate to win the £7k Cat One pot with Brazen Knight

Lay of the night, Blue Bees Bolt - short as 3/1. Very well bred and got potential but i've noticed lacks a yard or two of early pace to the bend for sprinting here

Interesting Exocet v Mustang Blitz clash. The former not been round but stays on, whilst the latter treading water near home. Could be a grandstand finish. Just favouring 5/2 Allsopp's runner

Little Aghaburren Paddy/Headleys Charly f/c, paying 11.64/1 (BOG)

Marathon's often a lottery but with Aayamzebella in the doldrums 4/5 Old Refrain little to beat, barely does enough though

In the Candlelight King/Take The Crown race, think Trickysblueginger could outrun his price, at 12/1

After the final, Coops Turmo could be the surprise packet. Fav Droopys Gonza didn't do well from T6 last I saw him and T5 not much butter. Will be looking for more middle ground and could set the race up for Coops

What an absolutely tremendous run by Ballymac Eske. Don't think any of his rivals really get 660m, but the clock says it all

Again, track prices poor. Don't really like talking to Ryan nowadays the way I mock his prices. Is it any wonder though? Early doors, 3/1 La Maqina and 5/2 Farloe Striker, only 5/4 twice trackside and both beaten!

Candlelight King, even at only 5/2 sp coz of Jaykay's shennanigins, a nice pick-up (are peeps still saying over-rated? ) Exocet a bit unlucky but pleased with Old Refrain (did it well), Ballymac Cairo (3/1 was good) and Big Thrill (was an above average maiden)

PS Very disappointed with Droopys Hawaii. Never picked a foot up

PPS Incidentally, the tote trio for Hawaii's race paid 414/1!
