such a pity Fiery Splendour is a NR as 6/4 Paradise Silva was a huge rick and now Splendour is out it actually gives Jackal Frampton a much bigger chance of turning Silva over.

the way the race was framed Splendour would have rushed up and ran straight off the corner, the only reason he didn't go straight off last week was Cabra Buck kept him in whilst cutting the corner, i honestly could not see how Jackal Frampton could go around the corner clean. Focus On Carlow goes right at boxes and while he can trap he has average at best pace up, that just left Twospoonsalice who doesn't trap but goes up well and down the back well but doesn't get home, Silva could have followed him giving him a huge start and would still have picked him up.

Ah well, no interest in the race now as a betting medium

Paradise Silva 4/7
Twospoonsalice 20
Focus On Carlow 25
Vacant
Half A Cent 50
Jackal Frampton 11/4

As for the other Plate semi i think it's a really interesting race and one i have actually enjoyed trying to work out, first of all i think Laughil Bolt is too short as there is a lot of pace up inside him and he is no way guaranteed to lead around or even turn that handy tonight. I can't have Runaway Rover who has the toughest draw between Global Chariot and Blenheim Cracker. Global Chariot ain't the best trapper but really motors into the bend and will be looking to lead but must avoid Runaway Rover at boxes. Blenheim Cracker's draw looks good and he has a big chance of going around but i have got to be honest i thought he fair put the brakes on when hitting the front last week, Meadowview Dove is the fastest in the race but he puts the breaks on every night he gets to the front (usually between the last 2 bends), all this leads me to believe the race will be slowed down at some point and for that reason i think Saint Anthony is the value as i can see him coming last of all and he can pick up the pieces, he himself seemed to not be doing much down the back last week but picked up well from the 3rd, he could be another not to trust but with the way the race is framed and i not being able to see Laughil Bolt lead i make Saint Anthony a bet @ 5s.

Meadowview Dove 13/2
Global Chariot 6
Runaway Rover 25
Blenheim Cracker 10
Laughil Bolt 2
Saint Anthony 11/4

As for the Derby semi finals the first one is quite simple, if Laughil Blake traps he wins. I don't care how Sugar Ray comes away (he won't like last week again) as he simply won't live with Blake to the corner or down the back for me and won't be picking him up. Blake can only beat himself in my opinion. Tyrur Sugar Ray should be qualifing from this pitch (we're payed the e/w money tonight Grin), will surely lead up Barefoot Agent and Droopys Ward from his pitch and that is enough to see him into the final. Emers Superstar has a lovely draw and you'd say should lead those drawn inside him but i have a feeling he is a dog best fresh, looks at last years National Puppy Stake, the con Kirby to a lesser extent and then this comp, his form does seem to tail off to me. Droopys Ward has a real tough draw from here and if he can't turn in front of Sugar Ray and Agent he is in big trouble, Homeless Boy on his outside won't be a help either. Laughil Blake is still absolutely massive @ 11/8.

Tyrur Sugar Ray 10/3
Barefoot Agent 40
Emers Superstar 12
Droopys Ward 14
Homeless Boy 100
Laughil Blake 4/6

The other semi is more interesting for me. Ballymac Vic is back in 1 where i love to see him around Shelbourne but it ain't as plain sailing as you would possibly imagine tonight. If Deanridge Pennys can come away as he did last week there must be a big chance they come together at boxes as Vic looks to move off, of course if Pennys is not as well away Vic will lead up and take Deanridge Pennys ground thus causing problems for him. I would say Vic is slightly big @ 9/4 but too short @ 13/8 (15/8 with me), those in the middle have it right. Ivy Hill Prince is really going to struggle tonight, he came away well last week but is just not good enough to the corner to get a good enough pitch here. Vulturi is too short for me, actually he is way too short for me, used his draw well last week and he is not totally devoid up as some seem but seems to drop back when he takes a bump or things don't go his way run up, i think he will still qualify but can't have him on my mind at the prices. Borneo is 5 is running as well as he ever has and frankly i do not understand how that bald manc **** makes him an 8/1 poke. Vic was better at boxes than Borneo last week but only barely beat him up, Vic then ran the opening bends much quicker than Borneo before he closed again run in. If Borneo traps as he has been he should go around 2nd at worst to Vic (bet is not dead if he does) and then if Vic and Pennys do come together i could see Borneo leading around. Skywalker Farloe as i have told you has had problems and to put it simply without them and at his best he would win this race. I have heard they're a lot happier with the dog now than earlier in the week but still i don't want to be chancing my €€€€ on him, i wouldn't want to be laying the 9/2 either mind!!!

Ballymac Vic 15/8
Deanridge Pennys 5
Ivy Hill Prince 50
Vulturi 10 (don't laugh)
Borneo 9/2
Skywalker Farloe 4

Saint Anthony @ 5s
Laughil Blake @ anything odds against is massive
Borneo @ 8s, 7s

Sorry, I've got to disagree on a few points, PF. Don't think Jackal has too much of a chance of beating Silva, who fluffed the start previous round, miles behind but still only pipped at the post. Re-Laughil Bolt (he's in great form), think he can negotiate the second bend not too far behind and do 'em along the back straight, with Saint Anthony struggling at the back 'til very late on.

Re-the Derby. You say Droopys Ward in big trouble if he cant turn in front of Sugar Ray but still think he claims the third qualifying spot (at least). Totally agree with the other semi.

Can have have an each-way double 10/1 Vulturi and 14/1 Ward, paying 180/1 and 15/1 the places, please?

Do you still think it's a poor Derby?

Woody did you rewatch last weeks race between Silva and Frampton, Global Chariot destroyed Jackal Frampton a lot more than he did Silva run in, had Frampton gone around which he was so close to doing he would have absolutely pissed up

And Woody don't start this ballacks can i have this can i have that, i put up my 100% book (had the balls too and left open to ridicule), why don't you do the same and i am sure you'll lay me you're prices to 100%

And yes i have said all along it is a poor Derby, it is still a poor Derby (nothing has changed bar a few fast times on a mental fast track)

I know about your 100% books PF. They are virtually that on Betfair but don't think youll be seeing 10/1 Vulturi and 14/1 Ward

Glad I went for the quarters, better looking card than tonight, imo. Having said that, fancy a couple - Tynwald Bish and Blenhiem Tricks. Seen plenty of Bish, the night he flew out to beat Droopys Jarrow at Wimbledon and in last Saturday's good trial. He could be away, like Tricks who could make all this time after another 3.35 split. Hope it's brimming over with class next week

How unlucky was Deanridge Pennys? Kept getting bumped by Vic and nearly bullied to the floor. Out of the two, would have preferred Pennys for chance of a bigger win. Would surely have qualified.

Well, happy enough in the end. Blake my biggest winner, then Vic. Juggled my bets about to back Vulturi, wins as much as Vic now. He's the only dog who could catch Blake, imo and thought 7/1 on the exchanges decent. The rest running at a slight loss

Paradise Silva still keeps missing the break but the rails saw him an easy semi winner. Hope he brings his trapping boots Saturday and got Jackal Frampton through, too Happy

Lanza, I wouldn't underestimate this Vulturi at 8/1. He will bear down on any dog in front of him with run, monster!
By:

When: 07 Sep 14 11:22
wont catch blake woody, gonna be hampered by vic if he moves left again, and then run up the back of tsr.

plus hes a winner in the book so little bit big maybe but trying to lower emers/ borneo risk while increasing blake.

Vic needs a flier, but i'd settle for him. Let me down in last year's final but was carrying a niggle. Sure Sugar Ray isn't destined to win the Derby. Will surely find these too speedy, late gains. Hope they don't retire him and he has a crack at the English St Leger. Had a nice win set up Borneo and shouldn't have traded him really. Still, don't think he'll win though. Emers got a bit to finds
By:
woodmanchester
When: 07 Sep 14 11:26
Borneo led in his semi and strong. Fine testament to Vulturi he caught him a pulled away. Give him a target and he wont be far away unless as you say, he gets squeezed for room
