Shelbourne trials ahead of Saturday's Night Of Stars:

525yds
Holborn Junior 28.32, Droopys Jet 28.52, Razldazl Marilyn 28.60, Cathys Clown 28.64, Champagne Jackie 28.68, Airforce Duke 28.70, Aero Nemesis 28.81, Vanrooney 28.90.

350yds
All About Ya 18.83, Miss Pagan 18.90, Rockburst Pearl 18.96, Ballyhill Sub 19.00

Homeless Boy beat Ballymac Vic, on his comeback, a length last Saturday night, 28.41 and Farloe Trent beat North Bound and Airlie Dazzler in a blanket finish over 575yds, 31.46.

Seems Musical Gaga is definitely coming over and Locnamon Bridie looks set to have her final race of the season Saturday after all, on the back of her superb victory in the Irish St Leger over Tyrur Sugar Ray and Jaytee Hellcat
Report kerrching November 26, 2013 11:06 AM GMT
Locnamom Bridie non runner shame. Hopefully she'll be back to defend the Christmas Oaks.

Starting to really look forward to it now.
Report woodmanchester November 26, 2013 12:30 PM GMT
The entry really is excellent. Apart from dogs already mentioned: Bitches race should still be good despite the absence of injured Locnamon Bridie, as Kerrching says. Melodys Diamond, Rockburst Pearl, Tasmanic Jaxx.

Elsewhere, likely are Ardfert Thunder, Skywalker Farloe, Tyrur Sugar Ray, Glenanore Dancer with invasion of Exocet, Daddys Knowsbest, Sawpit Sensation and Droopys Ed Moses.

Four could be travelling over for the 850: Musical Gaga, Afew Dollars More, Aayamzabella and Castlehill Aris.

Probably missed some other big names, there are so many of them! Excited

The highlight of last year's inaugural meeting Sparta Maestro v Ballymac Eske. This time it could be Ballymac Vic v Droopys Jet in the 550yds. Excited

NIGHT OF STARS DRAW DELAYED
26/11/2013
The draw for the Night of Stars programme has been delayed due to one of the runners being declared ineligible on technical grounds.
Exocet was last week withdrawn from the Essex Vase as he was reported to be off-colour. Connections then entered the dog for the Night of Stars and he was one of the six runners selected for the Dandelion 575. However, according to British regulations he is ineligible as dogs withdrawn from a race must have a trial to prove their well-being before being entered for racing in the future.
Exocet had not had a trial and so he was due to be given a trial on Tuesday night. The draw could not take place before that happened and so it was decided to put back the draw to Wednesday morning.
* The full draw will be carried on Talking Dogs as soon as it is made available by Shelbourne Park.

Report woodmanchester November 27, 2013 2:40 PM GMT
Seems i'm on my own, my mate said last year better too. Maybe no Slippery Robert and Derby winners (wasnt last year) but runners-up and every race great strength in depth every race, imo.

850 last year Future Boy, reckon this year's race better
Sprint Big Casino. Rate it much hotter now
Puppy races, quarters last year, semis this year, just as good
Bitches great Borna Gem last year and College Maybe. If Bridie had raced, better. Still got Rockburst Pearl.
575 Abbeyville Tipp and Isabels Boy. This year greatly harder for Tipp against Exocet, Hellcat etc
750 In-form White Soks Roks but that about it. Look at it now, record holder Airforce Duke, Shanless Becky and Ed Moses.
525 great last year until race stopped. Knockglass Billy was winning (Warhawk out with the washing) Billy still on card this year, like other participant Droopys Jet.
550 Ardfert Thunder won, on card again. Panther, Camas, North Bound (on card again) replaced by Vic, Homeless Boy, Farloe Skywalker and Van Rooney. Just as good, imo.
Okay, Sparta Maestro versus Ballymac Eske was exceptional but that didn't make it a better card.

Please tell me now last year was better and to get a life, please. Must surely be, at least, equal?

Ballymac Matthew won the Peggy Kelly, Knockglass Billy top class sprinter, Cloughtaney Gift in because he was runner up to Rioga in the Bar One. Savanna 2 SSO'S around Drumbo. Cluxtons Free -English raider. All about ya wins texacloth puppy derby 525 in Newbridge.

If i'd backed Exocet for the Essex Vase, i'd be very annoyed. Been withdrawn when fav for a major competition before. After withdrawn from the Romford event, he soon trialled at Coventry to clear him for a crack at 10k Shelbourne. Should never have been entered for the Essex Vase so soon after the Eclipse, in the first place, imo

Report woodmanchester November 30, 2013 10:53 AM GMT
Main 3 for me: 15/8 Ballymac Vic (deserves it), 7/2 Ardfert Thunder (won on the card last year) and 4/1 Shanless Becky (super stayer, could be fit enough). Did back Marilyn, should be too quick for 'em, at 9/2 but voided bet coz didn't want sp. Fancy Rockburst Pearl too and hope the English do well. Sawpit Sensation has won on the big stage round here before, so thinking 10/1 reasonable. Sorry lads but cant be having Glenanore Dancer, lets me down.

Found the sprint particularly hard but Ballymac Matthew's got a tremendous record. Really looking forward to the race.

Rooting for B*ylesports Hero antepost, need luck with Blenhiem Tricks. Wouldn't be surprised if big improver Emers Superstar topples odds-on favourite Sidarian Blaze in the other semi.

If all goes pear-shaped, looking to get out with the Tyrur Sugar Ray/North Bound forecast in the finale.

Good night thanks Fatty, Paul Brown, PF, and Hillcrest but dunno what happened to Lanza? Having a pint with PF and Hillcrest after racing and thought about going Dandelion club with them but had very early flight back.

Yeah, cursing with Marilyn. Waited as long as I could for 365 to reform market, but had to go for flight so missed 4/1! Licking my wounds too with Ardfert Thunder, unlucky and big 6/1 Shanless Becky, both close seconds. Got Rockburst Pearl though along with Ballymac Vic Excited and Tyrur Sugar Ray, so easy and it more than paid for my flights. Great racing.

English mainly rubbish, would say Cluxtons Free performed best.

With the English Derby early this year, i'd be tempted to have a crack with Ballymac Vic, if he was mine. If he maintained that form shown last night, could take a fair bit of beating, not forgetting the huge pot!
Report woodmanchester December 1, 2013 1:04 PM GMT
PS, In nearly all instances, early prices much better than track sp, except dunno how Exocet went off 4/1?!

PPS, Re-antepost Cakes, happy my Blenhiem Tricks was a shock winner. B*ylesports Hero fell in a hole approaching the line but held on for dead-heat second and through. Fell miles being going to pick up and had to laugh at official comment, ran on! Laugh. Did show pace after fluffing start but worn out making up ground.

Borneo flashed out, came again and surprisingly, imo, took the scalp of Sidarian Blaze

i had a bit of a shocker Woody.   arrived in dublin early friday, bit of grub in hotel, tried to check me antepost bets and the hotel net was down,  left phone charger at home and phone died.

went to harrolds cross.  nice place, very busy, more so than sp was saturday.  i couldn't get over the number of kids there.  Hundreds of them.  The less said about the 2 crooks standing there the better.  I have never seen such a poor showing including all me visits to the flaps.  Truly and utterly disgusting. The turkey and chips was lovely tho.  Had a taxi back to the hotel friday night, the net was still down but then my young mates were refused entry into the hotel. Caught up with me darts scores and things were ok.

sat... went to a different hotel to watch the wales v aus game, not good result.  walked to shelbourne straight after, bought some 1/2 priced tickets off a tout and got a verbal barrage for doing so from some security guardi bloke.

looked at the card and thought what great racing and prize money on offer. lets go find woody.
race 1...how nothing simple wasnt warned off?  had a few looks at 5 i think.
race 2...priceless bolt first winner of the weekend haha
race 3... didnt have a clue
race 4...went for borneo without traps 1+2.  quite liked betting with him?  borneo won.
race 5...left the sprint alone
race 6...bottled it and took 4/5 marilyn without gaga. Wouldnt mind buying the reserve.
race7... ?????
race 8.. thought about doing shan without but went for the fav Sad
race 9...went to bet hellcat but they went without him and exocet. could never see exocet winning and went for trent without both.  I think it was turbo that did me.  Had a chuckle to myself when i saw presentation and who the new owner was of exocet was? ... i'd sat by him and his mate last september when slip robert murdered me. haha.
race10...went for thunder
race 11... really impressed by vic, making my way to the track, quite smug that id laid him 2014 english derby with talk this was his last race.  Will be suprised if it is now.  he was awesome. i bet jet.  lol.
race 12...despite thinking i was doing ok... on reflection was down quite abit.  **** or bust... went for good old sugar ray!! he pinged...it was all over by mid point of the first bend.

i left feeling happy / level...great nights racing.  My young buddies went to the dandelion and i went to catch up on the darts.

i tried to spot that famous man city cap...but im not having much luck there woody.  i saw a man u cap but didnt approach him for fear of being told it was pf. lol. Sunday, the net was still down to gambling websites, didnt have a clue how my darts book was and taylor losing from 6:3 up was shattering. Sad Laugh

great weekend but would have been good to catch up with a few locals / woody.

Never a dull moment then, Lanza. Fatty seemed to find me okay, at end of row of bookies near winning line, like I said, but must admit pf didn't spot me til after racing when crowds disappeared. Hope you hang around a bit on here when the build-up to the Derby starts and not only do Daq

I spoke with the Draper family too. They've got Farloe Striker and Droopys Hawaii in the Puppy Cup final at Sheffield tonight. Spoke about Laurels bound Eden Star, also. Didn't find out anything i'd already gathered, though. Think Barrie was over looking at some puppies, as well

SUGAR RAY & VIC SET TO RETURN
02/12/2013
While many in the huge crowd at Shelbourne on Saturday felt they might be seeing both Tyrur Sugar Ray and Ballymac Vic in action for the last time, it would appear that full retirement is quite a bit removed at this stage for both star trackers.

Liam Dowling indicated that another crack at the English Derby could be on the cards for Ballymac Vic while PJ Fahy said that Sugar Ray will now be given a good break and will likely return for the Easter Cup.
