As known for, i dont think the draw is the most important thing, Fatty, rather relying on the ability of a dog to offset poor draws with a fast start on most occasions, so think Borna Gem will be qualifying, anyway and better luck second round.

Think the hottest heat 11, where two of my leading fancies Knockglass Billy and Locnamon Bridie clash. Plenty of others in there too, so qualifying places could be at a premium.

Thought Ballyhill Sub caught the eye Derby night and i'll be looking for a price him and obviously, Droopys Jet has a huge chance. As said, short-listed 8 and think i've got an interesting, huge outsider each-way. Just waiting for betting and best prices.

Wont be as big bets like Pay Freeze and Lemon Pluto recently though

Not said what i'm going for yet! Wink. Re-Borna Gem, she might be 0/5 from the two outer traps, but she doesnt have to win Saturday, just qualify. Think it would be a brave man who says she's going to be eliminated. Still on my shortlist anyway but hoping to beat the 14/1. Think loads could go well at nice prices and going to ignore the top two, looking for better value elsewhere. Couple of others quite high in the betting i'm currently shying away from: Farloe Calvin and North Bound. Will just say, if you fancy All About Ya, Fatty, you must consider Brogan Stranger at an even bigger price, also. Virtually identical times round Cork but Brogan Stranger with the quicker split

I'd defo want to take on all the dogs who got to the Derby semis or final. Traditionally, they have a bad record in this and each year we have a dog who did well in the Irish Derby being ridiculously short before being knocked out. On that reason alone, I'd want to avoid Gem. Locnamon Bridie might have a squeak and at 33's with Bet365, it ain't bad. But no doubt there will be plenty of value at 66/1 and bigger in this year's Laurels.
Report p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y September 19, 2013 11:46 AM BST
Yep with the Laurels i always want to be against those who had tough Derby campaigns, anyway they are generally underpriced as well. Always look for a certain type of dog for Curraheen as well, the last 3 winners all fit the profile of dog i want to be with although i am tempted to chuck a few quid at one who would not fit that bill.
Report p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y September 19, 2013 12:57 PM BST
Main Bet

Holborn Catchme @ 20/1 - had a good cut at him, was really impressed with him 3 weeks back when he trialled around Shelbourne, on the same night Knockglass Billy trialled just b4 him and he flew around and people was saying how well he went but when Holborn Catchme went he was every bit as quick from traps to the 350y traps showing brilliant early. He then showed brilliant early in his race 2 weeks back on a horrible night when the track was running on the slow side. With that early pace i think he will really be suited to Curraheen and he goes into the comp a fresh dog [which i always like] and once trapping down there i think he will make them all go.

Other Bets

Jacksallstar @ 25/1 - has massive pace but is a bit nuts, prepared to take a chance anyway as he is probably as fast as anything in it, can do it both ways and should be hard to get rid of if he keeps his mind on it

Badminton Girl @ 33/1 - don't usually back (m)s or (w)s in this but if she can come away and go up like she does at SPK i would not be surprised to see her go well in the comp, again she is coming in lightly raced [only 1 since the Oaks final] and despite the tough first round heat i thought she could go well at a price

Didnt want the prices to go so played 33/1 apiece each-way Ballyhill Sub and Locnamon Bridie tonight. Sub ran past beaten Knockglass Billy, only 10/1, on Derby final night behind flying Graduation Day but we all know Sub's really known for sprinting speed. Think he could go a long way. Noticed PF fancies Badminton Girl but she was beaten fair and square by same price Bridie in the Oaks and i prefer her, the like of Melodys Diamond, Borna Gem and Airforce Diva behind on that occasion. Here what's been said about racers with coming out of long-hard Derby campaign but smaller shots Borna Gem and Glenanore Dancer. Still got the huge outsder each-way in mind, but looking for better than 100/1

Just my luck, PTGB.

Anyway, doesnt look like Spoils, Crooks or Billies are bothering, so had to have small go 100/1 Cashen Cocoa each-way, although wanted more. If you can believe the extremely slow going allowance, and Sheffield was like a bog, he's got a sub-29sec calc on his card which equates to Hather George class and ablity, so worth small stab he can reproduce something like that

Down to 48 now, with just the 3 from each heat to qualify, from hereon in. IMHO there is still a lot of dogs just running to make up the numbers, with little chance of outright success. Just a handful that look strong probabilities, and still a chance that there will be a weak qt.,final, for the lucky one, as there is bound to be a few going through that hold little interest re-outright bet.

Last years winner has his chance, though he has had plenty runs lately and as everyone knows barely gets the 525, but is still capable of a quick time. Droopy's Jet is a bookies dog, and holds little interest for me as I felt he was too easily brushed aside in Wimbledon and Shel PK., but this is weaker so has his chance. I thought the O"Donnell kennel would have stronger chance but not impressed so far by their runners. Owen McKenna has a good record here, (his father Ger won it more often than not), but Farloe Calvin must do much more to give Owen another Laurels. There is quite a few dogs then that hold equal chances. But the Glenanore dog must have a decent shout at it, after his outstanding run in the 1st round.Though again he's an inside runner and like so many in this stake will be looking for the rails. For me the forgotten dog in the stake has to be North Bound. Impressive enough in his first round victory. He is one of 4 wide seeds left and looks short odds to qualify from his heat next Sat. This is  a really fast dog, and 'Curaheen' could suit him, as its a wide galloping track, and bar interference it will give him a chance to show his undoubted pace. Almost certain to be in T^ his favourite trap, and  at 16s with powers he looks too big and is worth a second look.

Nicken ripper 200/1 and burgess rumble 66/1 with PADDY POWER are not bad e/w bets for small money, both ran well on sat night, i think Burgess rumble ran the 3rd fastest run  so my score e/w is a fair bet....also north bound, droopys jet and borna  have been on the go against top class dogs for a while now so must be on the  tired side by now, it could be an outsiders laurels this year.Crazy

Might have had Glenanore Dancer or Borna Gem my main bet, instead of withdrawn Ballyhill Sub but the word was dogs coming off the back of long Derby campaigns jaded. Some superb runs last night though, not only Glenanore but as Poorpup says Droopys Jet and defending champion Knockglass Billy whoosh, too. Why didnt he do that Derby night? Would have paid the expenses. Thought Skywalker Jet ran well for a long way, also. Nearly took the advise of the poster who said 66/1 Burgess Rumble, each-way. All things being equal, dont think he can win but place possibilities.

Next to nothing written about the Laurels recently. Thought there might have been a comment or two about a couple of intriguing match-ups in the quarter-finals. Think PF rightly upset about too many withdrawn dogs, maybe that's why quiet re-the very good, current Irish competitions.

Anyway, Glenanore Dancer tackles Borna Gem and it's Droopys Jet versus Knockglass Billy. Never been to Cork but those two races alone would be worth going a long way to see.

Elsewhere in the Emerald Isle, think i'm buying money with the Tyrur Sugar Ray (600yds final Shelbourne) and Rockburst Pearl (Munster Oaks Waterford) double.

Good luck!

think Mistaken @ 14s and North Bound @ 16s are still overpriced

Mistaken is going up to the corner mental well and his sectionals around Curraheen are stunning, if he keeps coming away as he has he will take some leading and that's half the battle down there imo, i also think they've drawn a great heat as Mistaken really should be leading up with a decent start.

North Bound going against everything i usually apply to Curraheen but he is near enough the same price he started pre comp and now he is only 1 of 2 (w)s left and there is only 1 (m) left in the comp as well. The other (w) is Refuge Of Sinner who i think North Bound is better than to the corner so not worried about being drawn either side of him - North Bound does it right he will beat him up. Again he is in the same heat as Mistaken and i think both should be qualifing.

Heat 2 i'd be worried for Droopys Jet, i don't think he is showing that much up around Curraheen and with Knockglass Billy on his outside i think he could be in a bit of bother.

Having mixed fortunes antepost. Did well with a couple at Newcastle but not so well at Harolds Cross and Crayford. Now 20/1 Glenanore Dancer got to be quite confident. Not been coming away like early rounds, but if so wins pulling a cart, imo. Even allowing for average break, should still come through, granted modicum of luck, after very unlucky second to Lassa Expedition in semis. Danger: Cathys Clown, might have a saver

i had burgess rumble e/w at 66/1 i thought he looked good for the final, seems like a great result for the bookies .Cry

You was unlucky Frank. Did have Ballymac Sub and Locnamon Bridie to win a bit more than Glenanore, before both withdrawn but would still be very happy to collect this "nice" divi
