Six races featuring some high quality dogs tonight. Who's to say one of them wont lift the trophy, a prestigious category event and eight grand first prize on May 1st?

7.16 Farloe Iceman is speedy but never really been convincing to my mind and may need a bit more time after lay-off. You could think that leaves the door open for Gemstone Jack but he takes time to get going, making the race a tricky one to call, imo.

7.32 Looks the weakest race and passing on it.

7.48 Sharies Miller ran well in defeat over c/d last time and surely thereabouts again. Crusty Crab seems to have been around longer than Alex Ferguson and hoping for a sound comeback.

8.04 Taranis Rex showed his speed when winning over c/d last time and looks the one to catch. Airlie Impact saves his best for Hove but can pick his way round and finish high, wide and handsome. Add decent yardsticks Bit View Micko, Swords Messi and a good race in prospect.

8.19 With the possible exception of Downton Flyer, couldnt really convincingly rule anything out here. However, Tibetan Skies lacks early and needs the gaps, Ballycowan Dave shade off the boil, Dusseldorf may not get home and will have to wait and see about the Jules dog. This leaves Slippery Patch and although likely to start favourite, one of the others could easily come up trumps.

8.36 Great race to my way of thinking. Many see Jolly Bullyseye as a Derby dog, Sawpit Sensation has winning form at the highest level, Longwood Bound looks a fine prospect and Droopys Reason is fast when things fall into place. Will even go as far to say the race wouldnt look out of place with a final line-up like this. Even Any Dak is fast on his day (although a Henlow specialist) and Tyrur Andy has plenty of ability (but yet to prove himself in this class).

No bets anyway, just notebook ready.

Good luck, if youre playing

Why would Dusseldorf not get home over 480m Woody?

He has won over 550y around Shelbourne

Would he aim Sawpit Sensation at Wimbledon this year in your opinion or will it be the same as last year and over here??
Report FATTIEWHITEYSLOVEADRINK April 10, 2013 8:36 PM BST
THINK any dak could nic this big last race
Report FATTIEWHITEYSLOVEADRINK April 10, 2013 8:37 PM BST
fell out !!
jolly wins
taped the 3 on the first bend went on to win easy
Report woodmanchester April 10, 2013 8:52 PM BST
Sawpit better suited to Shelbourne, imo
Report Swayne April 10, 2013 9:08 PM BST
I thought Tyrur Andy ran on well after slight bump at 1st. Was closing down winner and 2nd to within 2.5 lengths of winner
Report FATTIEWHITEYSLOVEADRINK April 10, 2013 9:28 PM BST
thought bound was the unlucky one getting turned sideways at the bend
Report woodmanchester April 11, 2013 9:44 AM BST
Jolly Bullseye brushed unlucky Longwood Bound aside at the bend en route to victory. Droopys Reason proved a reliable yardstick again but Sawpit Sensation never at the races.

As previewed, Taranis Rex the one to catch and Airlie Impact high, wide and handsome, so it proved.

Downton Flyer looked the least likely winner on paper and sprung a surprise from Slippery Patch who did nothing quickly and had to go down a shade disappointing.

Sharies Miller runs the track well and could go well in the Arc proper. Crusty Crab was up there until in the wars.

Farloe Iceman in form now

Trials: Fire Height Spec 28.95, Ballymac Arkle 29.29, Farloe Warhawk 29.23. Going rated -60
Report woodmanchester April 18, 2013 9:10 AM BST
Not sure trial times totally accurate but latest betting:
7/1 Warhawk
10/1 Bullseye
14/1 Castlebride
14/1 Alley
18/1 Iceman
18/1 Spec
18/1 Apollo
20/1 Airlie
20/1 Cryan
20/1 Rex
25/1 bar

Initial plays:
Liking 10/1 Jolly Bullseye. If he keeps getting inside draws could go all the way. Bundles of early pace.
33/1 Longwood Bound. Headed Bullseye in a trial stakes and nearly got round. Think he's overpriced, too.

Waiting for rest to price up see best odds Warhawk. Sharies Miller been doing well in trial stakes but would want bigger than 25/1. Always liked Fire Height Spec, but not stuck on 18/1 with facing such a redhot heat first round. Airlie Impact will get runs out wide and a sneaky 159/1 for Derby, would like to see him go well. Just a mention for ex-Irish Shaneboy Alley too. Dont think he's raced since last December but won a final at Tralee in 28.37 with Razldazl Bugatti and Kilbarry Rover behind. Good form and reached the second round of the Irish St Leger. Think Power having a laugh with 7/1 though.

So, just the two for me but will add Warhawk if the price is right.

Good luck!

Draw from hell for Barrie Draper with his 3 entries in traps 2,3 & 4 in the same heat.

Farloe Warhawk looked way below his best on his last run and although he trialled well at Sheffield, his effort here, 3½ lengths behind Fire Height Spec's trial time, does not bode well. For sure Barrie wouldn't be running him unless he was completely happy but from a punting point of view caution is advisable IMHO.

shaneboy alley's been having some pretty impressive don sprint trials. 16.09 the quickest i think.  Shocked
Report woodmanchester April 18, 2013 6:33 PM BST
First round Friday afternoon BAGS.

Think heat 5 betting upside down. 9/4 Taranis Rex and 3/1 Slippery Patch should be bigger and 4/1 Sharies Miller/Droopys Reason should be shorter, imo.

Tempted heat one 7/1 Calico Classic. Disappointing last time but could do well on best Coventry form. Also 11/2 Longwood Bound in the concluding sixth heat, nibble now.

Farloe Warhawk doesnt seem to be budging from 7/1 antepost, so looks like i'm sticking with Bullseye and Bound outright
Report woodmanchester April 18, 2013 6:41 PM BST
7/4 Farloe Iceman looks plenty short enough for me in opening heat. Bad draw in T5 and dont lead, dont win, lay. 11/10 Farloe Warhawk seems to say 365 running scared. At best yes, but questions to be answered. Could improve though and if someone goes 9/1 outright, could be worth the risk

did monty python do them prices for 365?

oh well, heres hoping some lazy halfwit follows them blind and we can get more than a £1 on somewhere.

Id worry just a little with spec on the inside of WARHAWK
spec didn't turn left at Yarmouth !
Loveing willyjoe draw !!!!!
Bullseye auto lead star up that be that well I hope be to short for a punt

Noticed you started another thread Fatty. Not bothered which we use but think we should keep it all together.

If antepost money is any sign, 5/2 Shaneboy Alley looks good for its heat, but already gone in on Longwood Bound. Alley is now 10/1 from 14/1 outright.

Like the Airlie dog. Would have preferred stripes but 5/2 seems okay
