Dont worry Fatty. Think most dogs wont be much shorter and wide open, will get more mileage out of the betting when all priced up. Got 12/1 Loner and wouldnt swop her

Great competition with loads of super-fast dogs taking part.

Got a few Derby dogs in Golden Sprint but all small bets at fancy prices: Loner, Barracuda, Santiago and Blanco. Hoping for some good displays from them, after all Blonde Snapper successfully took the same route to Derby glory.

Got 12/1 Loner only for this competition though and think will still be tight at the top of the market next round, so going to see how far Loner takes me. If i had to add another at this stage, could consider 10/1 Ayamzaman. As fast as anything over c/d when breaking and the most likely dog to be in the hat next round, imo
Report DONEMYLOT April 5, 2013 9:12 AM BST
Is this also the Rommers thread for tonight? may as well be.

Whilst temptinmg to follow addy and gwladys over a cliff after last nights rompo at Hove, I wont. As said, love Borna Monty but wont play, even if 13-8 beats the sp.

One to oppose for me has to be Glanmire Lad. If he wins at 5-4, so be it, but I wasnt that impressed with the win two runs ago and whilst he stumbled last time, he does have it to do to get clear of Mottos and Rio who can fly to the corner. If he does his 3.55 okay, but I'll take the chance and oppose him with both of those at the prices, either of whom will lead the inside duo. 7-1 and 5-1 look fair to me. If the going somehow looks mad outer, couldnt rule out Seamus's other dog getting a dream run....tell you what may mix them up in fc's too

Someone said on here recently that they would never back a decent middle distance greyhound against an out and out sprinter. OK so they would never have got Blonde Snapper, but does this statement hold true usually ? Tonight there are several examples of this happening, just wondering what others think .
Report DONEMYLOT April 5, 2013 11:03 AM BST
Irish, what do you reckon if Barra keeps getting through. Would make him short to beat anything over 2 bends and may act as spoiler for a lot of these ep types, yet they stay and he may not. A Countdown conundrum to be sure, especially as the decent 400m dogs can run 3.60 splits, he probably would never do that consistently enough to win each time yet rushinmg up could do anything.

Its a hard event this, no matter how good. Oh for the days when King Oscar was 9-2 ap....
Report irishone April 5, 2013 11:14 AM BST
Same here, I haven't got a clue but fancy barra tbh DML, I think you normally end up going for what you have seen with your own eyes. Youngy has one tonight that can pop out, very impressed with Glanmire's start when he gets it right, leaning towards Oscar and Pam's depending on value because they are old hands at sprint distances. Really in a quandary over most of the races, the video boys should be quids in if they know which way most of those go from the traps.
Report dr . atkins April 5, 2013 11:42 AM BST
was not going to bet a dog at the start of the comp but looking at the draws tonight got to bet ayamzaman got a easy heat on paper so has to get shorter with me when it gets thru tonight.going to lay borna monty and loner

7.31 2/1 Slick Sleek got the draw and may only have T6 to beat.
10.26 5/4 Smiler Jack. Cost me last time but will surely start better tonight.
10.40 6/4 Aero Rebel. Proved she runs the track and trip could suit her better than Swift.
Treble pays about 13/1 Wink.

Interested in the final, 9.24 8/1 Ardmayle Player each-way, on the premise think the odds on fav was  flattered by margin of victory in the heats.

Good luck!

21.06 Baileys Quest, allsop dog, too big at 14-1 billies and 365,Thurles pup, a bit quick out the boxes, will give the 4 a race, hasn't even started its career over here yet , except for winning an open hove (T1) sprint in which he was crowded and led 1. Not sure about the rails suiting him but he'll be thereabouts at the first bend.

Report woodmanchester April 9, 2013 8:36 AM BST
Silly betting from Stan James. Farloe Barracuda doesnt normally trap like that and Slick Santiago can ping. Seen them race a few times at Sheffield and can promise you, not a gulf like 13/8 and 20/1 in their capabilities. Santiago would win much more than Droopys Loner now anyway
Report FATTIEWHITEYSLOVEADRINK April 9, 2013 10:03 AM BST

Wrong track IMO
he can trap but don't think he as the early for Essex!

In two minds weather to back rodge!
Report woodmanchester April 9, 2013 10:10 AM BST
Santiago's trial shows he can run and fly the track. Would normally do a 3.60 odd split, fast enough to go with most. Rate this dog highly.

1 Droopys Loner
2 Farloe Barracuda
3 Garryglass Rodge
4 Farkland Tyson
5 Mottos Impact
6 Glanmire Lad

Rodge turns left and clouts Barracuda at tins, leaving them both struggling. Can Mottos continue his super form? Hoping not and Loner pings to land the prize. Any other scenarios you would like to post?

Rodge pings he takes out the inside 2

5 and 6 look the value to me on the draw
Report woodmanchester April 13, 2013 9:58 AM BST
Not sure Mottos will be value though PF. He will be priced on his career-best semi victory and Glanmire struggling to peak, but now's the time to do it. Will be surprised if Barracuda wins. More his kind of break last night, flies to the bend, the longer the better really but cant see him missing Rodge. Loner not totally without hope
Report p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y April 13, 2013 10:02 AM BST
5/1 is fair enough if you ask me for Mottos, whichever of 5 and 6 lead will get a solo in my opinion.
Report DONEMYLOT April 13, 2013 10:16 AM BST
Mottos has smasehd out twice. It was actually a better break than the fgav last week but was overshadowed by the media thinking it was a 'shock' result. proved he can trap again last night and has more improvement in him than the rest of the field. Will be tough but Lonber could hold up FB inside. Agree 5s is fair
Report noflapleft April 13, 2013 2:38 PM BST

Report woodmanchester April 13, 2013 6:54 PM BST
Yeah and people saying he's got a bad draw. It's only one slot to the right of his semi box where he was hugely impressive. Rooting for Loner but think maybe only a pinger from Barracuda, more unlikely than likely, may stop Mottos. If repeating semi effort, 5/1 would look stupid with hindsight

Than smash them to bits that's all I can see in this final
456 fc tc will be the play
Report irishone April 14, 2013 3:11 PM BST
Rodge never won out of anything other than the one box so far in its short career, he does miss the break now and then but has been known to recover once from a poor start over here, he's got the ping box but barracuda has the better sectionals. I think rodge will move left, hit barracuda and this might allow loner up the inside to fight it out with mottos. Mottos is a great price and represents value, lets hope everyone ignores him again !, You never know in this game but I'd rather be on one that's been there seen it and done it rather than a good young 'un, even though there are some great young 'uns in this line up.
Report wondersobright April 14, 2013 5:36 PM BST
its an interesting race to price as there are a lot of ways the race could be run

as for the argument that droopys loner has done well out of the draw, well look at what 3 did to golden wonder at yarmouth, practically had it over the fence, both 1/2 need to smash to avoid 3 otherwise its curtains
Report woodmanchester April 15, 2013 10:22 AM BST
Had a couple of quid Mottos Impact at 6/1 to supplement 12/1 Droopys Loner. Can only think 'Crooks think his 3.60 and 3.61 splits flukey and wont repeat. He has the legs of Farkland Tyson early and if the touted trouble materialises on the inside, he's strong and hard to hold? If Glanmire leads him, every chance, think Mottos will pick him up
Report DANNY - trader April 15, 2013 7:13 PM BST

Report woodmanchester April 16, 2013 9:01 AM BST
You could well be right Pies. Not only is it a great final, it's fascinating, too. Good luck!

Danny, some will say how can Rebel turn over 7 lengths around in the space of 175 meters, but i think she can. Honey went into my notebook at Coventry but she's never done anything like her heat run, imo. Unfamiliar position of traps there for Rebel, we know she's quirky. She missed break and not a smooth run but 6 out of 6 over and getting faster all the time over 750 meters. At the prices, just think i'd rather take 15/8 Rebel rather than evens Honey

Report woodmanchester April 20, 2013 1:42 AM BST
What's wrong with English Oaks? Yeah, Rodge didnt come away so Farloe Barracuda and Droopys Loner had it between them. Thought my 12/1 Loner had a chance off last bend but came wide to challenge and Barracuda wouldnt have let her up the inside close home anyway. Same story, a narrow defeat for me, Aero Rebel, in the other final. Getting deja vu from last year. Saving grace, got 66/1 Barracuda for Derby. Would settle for his doing a Blonde Snapper!
