No worries Glasgow. Sounds like its local for you. Might have been a chance we could have met for a pint, had already mentioned it to Middleman, but i'm away in Corfu first round. Think that, and the final, is being shown on RPGTV anyway

Barefoot Allstar, winner of last year’s Scottish Derby is very unlikely to defend this title this time after picking up an injury in an Open Sprint at Limerick on Saturday night.
The Paul Hennessy trained Barefoot Allstar broke slowly and struggled badly at the rear of the field throughout and it was obvious he was in some distress.
Trainer Hennessy yesterday confirmed that the dog was very lame and sore after the race but won’t know the extent of the injury until he is checked out by a vet this morning.
Said Hennessy: “You can take it he won’t be going to Shawfield and we are unlikely to have a runner in the Scottish Derby now. But I would imagine he will be out of action for about six weeks and hopefully he will be able to join our team for Wimbledon”.
It Barefoot makes it to the English Derby he would provide Hennessy with a very strong team completed by Money Talks and Priceless Sky.

Given encouragement to push for news, I was about to do just that when Shawfield owner Billy King called to confirm that it was all systems go with Ladbrokes sponsoring an 18-runner, two-run event worth £10,000 to the winner with heats the last Saturday in April (27th) and final the first Saturday in May (4th).
Already the mind was racing about possible TV coverage and a quick call to Ladbrokes’ Gordon Bissett told me exactly what I was hoping to hear, namely that both meetings will be live on Racing Post Greyhound TV which is a real feather in the cap for a channel about which I must declare an interest.
Is an 18-runner Classic perfect? Definitely not and I had already made that point the previous weekend when the possibility of such a schedule was first floated. I’d much prefer three rounds, 24 or 36 greyhounds, but 18 runners is far, far better than the zero it looked like being just over a week ago.
As with much this fast-moving period of greyhound history, it’s all about being pragmatic and filling the vacuum created by the end of the previous Sky Sports arrangement and the much-welcomed start of a new deal bankrolled by Bags.
Would those who disagree rather the situation which pertained in 1984 and 1986 when there was no competition so no name to add to the famous Scottish Derby roll of honour? Does an 18-runner event not count even though, on occasions in the past, the Scottish Derby champion has won a one-off race?
Given the perpetual state of 'war' which exists between punters and bookies, it can be difficult for some to be also pragmatic, or realistic, when it comes to broader elements of that relationship.
I don’t forsee the public taking to the streets clamouring for the repeal of the 1961 Betting and Gaming Act which forever changed the landscape for greyhound racing by legalising of-course betting.
At a stroke, the main reason for attending afternoon greyhound meetings was gone as on-course was no longer the only place the general public could have a cash bet be that on greyhounds, horse racing or whatever and our sport has been on the back foot ever since.
However, there remains an appetite amongst punters for greyhound racing to the extent that Bags meetings are just about at an all-time high. It might not be for the purist, but the harsh truth is that the purist doesn’t pay the prize money or stadium running costs.
Working with, and understanding, the new reality means that greyhound racing can prosper and thrive in the years ahead even if it is not the same game many of us grew up, and fell in love, with.

The comp will be massively over subscribed i'd imagine, the racing manager will be choosing the 18 dogs running [only 18 and we've seen some bizarre decisions from RMs in the past] so i have to agree with Irish
