Liking the look of the card very much but will be surprised if tissue prices are anything like sp.
6.15 Fancy 2/1 Boher Chieftain. Only been round once last September but found trouble. However, did me a good turn in his comeback race and has the speed and class to get up, imo. 6.30 5/1 Frankbrunosbro. Beaten less than a length in the Derby plate. Has the draw, looks safe to ignore troubled comeback run and could be slightly underestimated. 7.00 11/4 Chester Lad very fast on his day, as 17.49sec 305m Notts shows. Did run here once last December and may only need to put best foot forward. 7.15 4/1 Dacent Joker. Does his running at home track Sheffield but been round twice before. Although a remote 2nd on both occasions, may have sufficient all-round pace against these. 7.30 4/5 Jazz Apollo. Super veteran who owes nothing to anyone. Has the draw and even if Ballymac Drogba pings, Apollo should comfortably overhaul that non-stayer. 7.45 The race of the night mainly featuring 7/4 Castlebride Dan and Farloe Tango. The former has won 6 out of 7 races over c/d including track record and although Tango has very much his own ideas about racing, his record still reads 10 wins from 15 races. Think Dan should be hard to catch. If there's a market, i would be laying Tango at likely short price and going each-way on probable double-figure shot Highfire Jazz. 8.30 2/1 Sidaz Dippy and Crinkhill Jewel could have it between them, could go either way. However, Sidaz could be bowling along in front and thats the best place to be. 8.45 5/2 Bit View Micko has winning form over course and distance and with Boher Conway finding this trip demanding, may score at the main expense of Swords Brett.
Prices just a Racing Post guide but knowing track profit margins, especially at Coventry, all likely to be shorter, some significantly.
Oops, forgot 8.00, 10/11 Greenisle Giant. His best form over 6 bends stands out like a sore thumb against these and if getting the marathon trip, should win easily

Hope youre not putting the jinx on me Irish. I've had big-race winners at 12/1, 8/1 and 15/2 in the past week. Will be funny if i dont do well tonight, after you've posted your evil-eye on matters

Mike, probably would have been there tonight if no streaming. Only been once since it re-opened though. Long way from Manchester down M6 past Stoke, Wolverhampton and Birmingham. There is a problem with betting on-line, with betting often suspended early, especially with Coventry prone to delays, so cant bet seriously with just poor value normally on offer anyway. If you bet before betting suspended, you often wish you hadnt have played when you see the sp. Good racing, entertaining and pointers for future though.
Good luck!

Only bet in marathons, but still travel (50 miles nothing) as I always have. Used to leave work (Rothmans at 17.00 and go off to Brough Park or Bristol, or anywhere there was a short one in a marathon. Dont forget in those says off-course tax was 10% so well worth it if your betting in monkeys. Will go for a chat with Harry, Nigel Flowers & Tom Johnson, and Bob Webb (used to stand at Reading) now in management at the track Always plenty of people from the past to exchange memories with - know a few open trainers too, which helps

206 mile round trip to Brandon for me. Only know a few top trainers to talk to, so unless Charlie or Barrie etc got runners, tend to keep a low profile

Used to go when it was a flapper. Best memories of Coventry was when Bob Horton had some great middle distance dogs and called them after Russian chessplayers - Korchnoi, Koniev and Katruska. Wonderful dogs and ran up sequences, but that was 30 years ago !!

30 years ago would have been Im Slippy's '83 Derby year. I didnt know anything about it until 3 years later and Tico. Used to be my secondary school chess champion but dont think the standard was particularly high. There was probably a Karpov then?
My early teenage recollections of dogs was Scurlogue Champ at Belle Vue. Michael Compton had a lot of very fast "Pineapple" dogs i liked following. I liked nutcases Mr Muscle/Wonderful Dandy and Ventry Elm. One of the fastest Belle Vue dogs i can remember was Killinane Slave

Phoned a couple of bookies re-early prices but nothing doing and dont look particularly promising for the future, either.
The standard better than RPGTV in a fair few instances, so shouldnt they be drumming up business? The streaming picture quality is superb and thought there would be a large enough interest. Come on Harry, crack the whip and wake these bookies up!

My fav trainer @ Belle Vue - definitely Nigel Saunders, when he had great dogs owned by that guy from the Isle of Man. Manx dogs, Jet was very good but Marajax the pick. Was at Wembley when it won Leger @33/1, not my sort of price though

Got a couple of vivid memories from Coventry. Before streaming, had a very good bet on Cleenas Lady at good odds for a big competition, would have won £100s. She went off very short in the final but the going was dire and pot luck dictated she was disappointing.
On a happier note, again very good bet this time on Swift Ninja in prestigious stayers event. Big odds antepost but think evens for final. Shot out and strung them, as he used to, but a dodgepot came out of the clouds, they flashed across the line in unison, impossible to separate. Could have been a very long drive home but after ages, had my heart in my mouth, the judge announced Ninja the winner

The streaming quality & lighting at the track are very good & it's free to view the stream (no bet required) http://www.e-tote.com/24dogs/video.php?sessid=&stadium=coventry

Thanks. Nice haul 6 from 9. Thought Coventry broke the habit of a lifetime with very fair betting.

open question to everyone, how are people finding it re getting bets on at coventry, i.e. with the online books, in shops, and what are the track pools like now?
wd woody, you smashed it as patrick saidopen question to everyone, how are people finding it re getting bets on at coventry, i.e. with the online books, in shops, and what are the track pools like now?
Track win pool is nearly always over £500 and over £1000 on a Saturday so a tenner or score doesn't do too much damage. Forecast & Trio pools only any good on a Saturday.
