Although he's been invincible round the Colwck Park track, i still find it impossible to back Ballymac Eske at 11/8. Farloe Tango has a verdict over him and think Eske will find it harder to pick some of these up as he did Bridge Honcho in the Olympic. Would have had to have been about a 2/1 shot to interest me, but too late now, bets already struck.

Mainly gone for 18.5 and 18.0 Farloe Ironman on here, Betfair. The Derby runner-up clocked 28.16 (only +10 fast), when winning in the semis and judged on his disposal of Bridge Ruth in a calc 29.54 over 515m Hove, a time which isnt too far behind Eske's runs at the seaside track, looks back to his peak. He'll do for me at the prices.

Had to have a go on Mags Gamble, won 7 of his last 8 races and got 10.5 on here. He excelled himself at Newcastle and if converting that form to Nottingham will surely give Eske a harder target than usual to pass.

One last little play, 19.5 Holdem Spy. Bit concerned about his hot opening heat coz he's not the quickest early but possesses tremendous gears and could go all the way, with the rub of the green.

Think Lister could be out of luck on this occasion. Dont really fancy Taylors Sky or Boher Paddy and Farloe Tango may need to gain racing room during qualification.

Good luck!

6 quid farloe ironman, 7 quid mags gamble and 2 quid holdem spy? Wink

i'm a huge fan of farloe tango, think the dog has so much raw ability and speed its frightening. if he wasnt so clumsy and learnt how to race i'm not sure who would be the faster dog out of him and eske i rate him that highly. think at 8/1 he is a good ew play (not sure if CretFred actually laid any 12s? i was too slow) although stopping in the trial the other week would be a small concern.

thought it looked a new star first time out but a few runs down the line it looked a little nuttie

fatts i'd love to see tango turn in front of eske in a clean run race.....then i'd know if my belief in tango is misguided

Think Eske would normally be in front of Tango, then game over in a clean race. Tango proved that theory wrong at Hove but Eske has since shown he can be up there early, like the Puppy Derby at Wimbledon. Agree Tango has scintillating pace, just think he may need luck on his side to lift the trophy against these speedy, Derby class dogs.

PS, you sussed me out Addy but its the possible £110, £73 or £39 winnings i look at, not the stakes Happy

thanks fats, excited and nervous all week. think it will be mission impossible saturday, race is chock full of quality and its going to be extremely tough to qualify which i would snap your hand off if offered right now. think it probably is her hardest ever race.

only joking woody, like you i think eske would probably lead tango at the minute, but cant help thinking if the penny drops with tango and if he suddenly gets this racing lark we could well have another eske on our hands which would be frightening, certainly some excellent dogs about at the minute.

Personally Addy, think youve got every chance of a qualifying place Saturday. Wouldnt be surprised to see any of the 6 in the final, so you could say youve got a 50/50 shot? Good thing is she's in winning form, usually counts for a lot.

Good luck!

thanks woody - i just dont see her leading this. i think there is definite trouble at the bend i just hope she is brave and skips clear of it rather than holding back or being on the end of it - would be delighted if she caused it cutting the bend.

teejays and romeo in the 2 weakest heats imo, teejays likely to keep qualifying given style/track defo should suit, romeo nice bit of early and impressed in produce, paddy got his box in heat and normally there or thereabouts in finals would love to see him win

someone I know offered max £6 on 25/1 shot in Eclipse w/o Eske, and another posts on G/Scene saying BaldFred not take more than a bullseye and another post

"None of the bookies will, i was trying to back my dog today for a small sum and was knocked back and co - incidently the owner of another dog near to the top of the betting was in the same shop in Leicester.
We were both knocked back and offered the mighty sum of £25 by Ladcrooks (sic)

makes you appreciate BF, especially looking forward to anticipated future if similar trajectory followed by 'bookies'

Ghost, the races (BAGS/BEGS)will be shown in betting shops in the high street. You should be able to get commentary, only, on William Hill radio.

imo, this competitition is like a mini-Derby such is the class of some of the protagonists. Excited and really looking forward to it.

Got Ironman, Mags and Spy antepost but of tonight's races, fancy:

5/2 Boher Paddy. Loathe to back against antepost bet Ironman but Paddy looks the value to me at the odds, on this occasion.

6/1 Hather George, trained by the Master Charlie Lister, his Sheffield form on a par with Head Iton Hayesy, imo and that's only a 2/1 shot. Teejays Bluehawk beat the smart Lemon Pluto in the Northern Puppy Derby. A fine win of 28.58s calc, considering Mags Gamble won the All England Cup in a 28.40s calc. Only trouble is convinced Pluto has improved since then, Bluehawk does it the hard way and may need modicum of luck finding a way through.

7/2 Mags Gamble. If he can run Nottingham as well as he does Newcastle, sure Eske will have a race on his hands catching Mags, then needs to get by also. Wont be as easy as many think, imo

Good Luck!

agree woody, cannot wait for these heats

can't see any problems for paddy/ironman as drawn ok

you've identified the lemon pluto boost and given teejays absolutely no credit Shockedfor absolutely mowing it down at brough

also tempted by mags getting first run, got box to smash out from and possible that 1 holds eske up but see what prices are

This thread became the Wonder/PF show last night! Laugh Wink.

Very pleased with 5/2 Paddy 7/2 Mags and aftertiming, the nearly 15/1 double.

Thought i was unlucky with 6/1 Hather George, didnt get the rub of the green but only narrowly beaten. Hayesy ran a very disappointing race again

At the start of the thread, said didnt fancy Paddy and Sky, still dont, but that's referring to the outright win.

Fatty, the way Bertie closed down Paddy run-in, dont think Paddy would make a proper six-bend dog. Feel the same Sky.

Very disappointing antepost with Spy and Ironman both out, thought they would have done much better than that.

Farloe Tango only chasing intermitently, penny not dropping and has his own ideas about the game. Had my doubts about Bluehawk, seems i was right in thinking Pluto big improver since Newcastle. Longwood Fantasy showing some consistency now, see how long it lasts.

Disagree with you about Eske, PF. Now is the ideal time to go to Shelbourne. Couldnt have worked out better, if you ask me. Eske broke well, bang there, but murdered at the bend. Knocked all over the place and any lesser dog would have been beaten miles, not a thereabouts fourth. Only concern for me, this was his most competitive race and could be a sign of things to come in top-quality all-aged company. His gears are still absolute though and personally think he would take plenty of beating at Shelbourne
