Bridge Ruth who won the Cesarewitch and Longford Derby.
Airforce Diva who won the big unraced in Tralee and was 2nd in the Puppy Oaks and made the Irish Derby semi final.
Milldean Tally who won the Irish Oaks and was 3rd in the International.
Cabra Millie an Oaks and Christmas Oaks finalist, won a good bitch stake in Clonmel and was 2nd in the International.

I'd argue they are every bit as good as her, they are all brilliant bitches.

As for your Oaks i don't know yet as i don't know how Bridge Ruth and Airforce Diva will take to Wimbledon and the different traps. As of now i'd say Bridge Ruth would be the one of them too that would interest me more as i think she will be fine around there and she is a lot more consistant at the start than Airforce Diva. I'd favour Bridge Ruth and Droopys Loner from the list Hills have on their site.
Report woodmanchester October 27, 2012 11:17 AM BST
At her best Silverview Perky is the fastest and best bitch both sides of the pond, imo. Droopys Loner was no match for Perky in last year's Oaks and although improved in the Derby etc, her Wimbledon best of 28.50 leaves her something to find with Perky's 28.20 and 28.28 victories. At Hove, Bridge Ruth best 29.62 and Airforce Diva 29.82, whereas Perky has a 29.47 on her card. (All times calculated)
Report p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y October 27, 2012 11:31 AM BST

Report p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y October 27, 2012 11:34 AM BST
And i could argue about the times you put up for Bridge Ruth too, she did that clock on her first look at Hove, what did Silverview Perky do in her first run around there. Who is too say Bridge Ruth won't go quicker around there with the more experience of the track behind her.

Oaks betting at this stage is full of pitfalls, The market is headed up by two bitches that haven't even seen W'don yet! Droopys Loner runs W'don well but stretches her stamina. She's a bitch who has been surpressed so if fit will take her place, Silverview Perky another bitch thats been surpressed but will she be fit to take her place.Rockburst Pearl n/r & i think Ballymac Wander will also be a n/r. So at the moment Droopys Loner would be the only safe bet for me.

Fwiw The best bitch imo either side of the Irish sea is Cabra Millie.
Report woodmanchester October 28, 2012 11:35 AM GMT
All very interesting. Personally, dont think Bridge Ruth or Cabra Millie would be 28.20 bitches round Wimbledon, QED (as my friend Miss Wales says). Should be a great competition anyway. Thinking of possibly going down to London for the first round
Report Swayne October 28, 2012 12:30 PM GMT
interesting that of Perky's 28 races, the 13 fastest as per GD rating include 8 bitches only races, 3 puppy races and the (lucky) Select Stakes win. Perky not run for 2 months and Lister saying she may not enter Oaks..I think she's a great bitch but she has been well managed..and not run against the best (dogs) like Diva and Ruth. Also when Perky came up against equally 'best' bitch at Hove, R Pearl in a clear run Pearl nailed her to the wall, no excuses. I think much stronger Oaks this year IF the best out there take their place but like the St Leger dropping like flies..so think you'd be barking taking AP's now.

Glad didnt back Silverview Perky, now Lister has said she wont be ready in time.

With the reigning champion sidelined, firmly in the Bridge Ruth camp now. Unlike Droopys Loner, Ruth is set to stay Wimbledon's 480m at top pace, judged on Hove form. Meanwhile, not so sure Airforce Diva's style will be as suitable to the Plough Lane circuit as places like Hove and Shelbourne.

Had some 5/1 Ruth anyway. She runs at Hove tonight and if she beats the dogs again, could be nibbled at once more.

My other play is 20/1 Bansha Mo. She looked every bit as good as Lemon Velvet in the heats of the Yorkshire Oaks at Sheffield on Tuesday and that's only 14/1. Besides, Bansha a shade faster than Velvet early, imo, a good point for Wimbledon and if showing consistency, could go all the way

Flappy, Loner is one of my favourite bitches and i was one of the first to spot her in last year's competition and follow her. She ran great in the Derby and most unlucky not to reach the final. However, her best ever time round Plough Lane is only 28.60 odd, of which, i expect Bridge Ruth to run quicker, thats all. I would have money on Loner being in the final but may find one or two too good as she has done before round Wimbledon.

Good luck!

Dont like saying really Bookie coz get stick for opening my mouth too soon, just at the mention of a dog's name sometimes.

I will say, looks a 2-dog race to me, with Hope a strong fav. If breaking like the heats, should be in front of and avoid a knock off Molly in the early stages and i fancy her very strongly to catch Skate. I reckon maybe around 4/6 Hope and 9/4 Skate. Think you could get most prices youre looking for about the others, oops, husha my mouth! WinkLaugh

chunks of early in this race woody, odds on droopys hope in 4 with 4 heat winners in the field looks very very skinny.
Report woodmanchester December 3, 2012 8:50 AM GMT
It does Addy and maybe i've underestimated your Molly slightly but Hope in the form of her life and priced-up from the class point of view. A line through Loner (who outpointed Skate at Vue) gives her the clear edge. Not saying you may not get 8/11 odd on or thereabouts on here, but i think 4/6 could be a reasonable sp guide, but that's just my opinion. If what youre saying is right, maybe you get some levels-you-devils on here
Report Addy_D December 3, 2012 9:54 AM GMT
not so much molly when i just looked at the race, put her in a 9/2 chance, and i couldnt say i fancied anything specifically, but there is just stacks of early on hopes inner. i like a hope a lot as a dog and i think outright she has a great chance but she will have to do everything right at the boxes and fly out as anything 1-5 could lead. regardless of how good she is, think there are enough concerns with her draw and quality of race to say she shouldnt be odds on.
Report Addy_D December 3, 2012 9:55 AM GMT
just think there is a very real chance hope doesnt make the bend with a clear thats all, if she does she probably wins.
Report woodmanchester December 3, 2012 10:33 AM GMT
Addy, you say Hope has to do everything right at the boxes, but i'm not so sure. She didnt when beating Loner and i dont see any Loner in this line up. Only trouble not qualifying, i think, is if your Molly whacks her. To be honest, i really dont rate Barbie or Sherrys too highly. Appreciate your opinion though, so maybe 4/5?
Report Addy_D December 3, 2012 10:43 AM GMT
we'll see and look for prices :-)

difference when she beat loner is she had rails and loner was always going to take bridge ruths ground. diva didnt run too well and wallis said both his would come on for the run. there was no immediate pressure on hope at the boxes or on the run up. this race i think hope has a lot of early to clear to get to the rails. barbie and sherrys arent good enough to beat hope in a clean run 4 bends but if one gets a ping and hope is only average away they might give hope a bump is all im saying. to play odds on i wouldnt want too many concerns, 4/6 hope id worry about the 4 box id worry about the early around it. you may well be right price wise, and if you are i'll be laying thats all, good luck anyway with whatever you do.
Report woodmanchester December 3, 2012 10:48 AM GMT

Report woodmanchester December 4, 2012 9:13 PM GMT
The terminology of laying odds on or odds against confuses me too sometimes Danny. Think if you lay at 1/2 instead of 2/1 your liability would be less. Price doesnt matter as long as it gets beat though, you would still only win your stake no matter what the price. Have i got that correct?
Report p_r_e_m_i_e_r__f_a_n_t_a_s_y December 4, 2012 9:21 PM GMT
Let's say you want to lay to win £100

£100 @ 2/1 - your liability = £200

£100 @ 1/2 - your liability = £50

that's without bringing commission into it
Report woodmanchester December 4, 2012 9:31 PM GMT
Thanks PF, thought so. Point i was trying to make was price dont affect your winnings if your correct predicting a loser. It's if it wins you have to fork out coz of the bigger liability at the bigger odds?

Still wrapping my head around some things like this. Never been, nor would like to be, a bookie, it's alien to me, being no good with numbers. You can count all the bets ive ever laid on the fingers of your right hand

Cannot believe that Hope isnt at least jf with Loner. Loner probably wont break from red and theres enough pace to worry her, especially if needing to use her energy to pace up and make the corner in front. I've backed Lemon Velvet at 14/1 ante post (apologies for the after-timing). She was a bit 'ordinary' in the first 2 rounds but that semi win was hugely impressive - Skate On squeezed her out at the 3rd bend and probably cost her a couple of lengths. It was interesting to note that she held her advantage over Droopys Hope all the way to the pick-up, whilst Skate On faded away. The 9/2 on offer for the final looks huge, but I guess that is based on her draw. She'll need to lead 2 & 3 and avoid Skate On cutting across her. I'm confident that she can win if she gets a clear run, but appreciate there's an 'if' in that statement.

I've had the max on Hope.

When she beat Loner in the trial stakes, she went from red to the outer. I know LOner needed it and I do like the b1tch a lot, but they couldnt have given HOpe a better go at it. Turning 3rd down the back will do, and I can see that being her worst posi. Loner will probably pace up well enough to get inside Lemon and Skate but she'll need rear view mirrors.

No complaints if any of them win really and certainly not Loner but the prices should be closer together in my view.

By the way, does anyone know of any other hound that won a decent event drawn red sticking to rails, and then won another preferring stripes and running m-w just months later?
