The runners are now out and it looks a HOT competition this year!

http://www.brightonandhovegreyhoundstadium.co.uk/result/advancerace/2012/05/31race1.pdf

Blonde Fletch has got a dream 1st round draw missing all the other big guns, but there are numerous other dogs with chances to win the whole thing given a bit of luck.

Nobody seems to be betting on it yet, although C orals did have betting up over the weekend, but that has been taken down.

How do you think it will pan out?

Ballymac Pet musnt be far enough out of season yet and Fletch needs to stay on better than last time. They would have been my first instinct. Question marks over Newyork and Patrol if you ask me. Think Newyork lack-lustre when trying a test as long as this at Wimbledon, i think it was (but not sure off the top of my head) and think Patrol beaten at odds on the other night. Cryan stamina doubts also. Whitney and Capel not reliable. Could leave the way clear for a nice-price winner. Maybe my old fav Swabys Princess has outside claims with Ballyard Buddy, thats got easy heat but has been very expensive for me in the past. Will have a study soon and see if i can come up with something

capoley ash a very interesting runner with guaranteed stamina to take in 3 stiff 6 bend runs in 12 days couple of recent hove trials were excellent and suggest change of kennel hasnt had a negative effect should have no trouble qualifying from that heat and looks a massive runner for outright honours

before the draw i fancied Fletch and also Skywalkershearer on his home track following his break to get over niggles and v good recent Wdon performance, I still do albeit they are in the same heat I think both will qualify..

strange how no prices anywhere, and it's only 2 days away

certainly very competitive, im a big fan of airforce newyork, but im even bigger fan of capoley ash and think his 6 bend speed is underated, id fancy him to be infront of airforce new york and dont fancy the latter catching it. nice bet capoley ash for me.

Just because i can't get what i want on with certain firms does not mean i bet in telephone numbers. Not sure if you've noticed but some of the restrictions with certain firms are pathetic.

Believe you struggle sometimes PF, but i'm only a £50 max bet man and never been declined a bet.

Anyway, dont you fancy Trend for Regency. Been a shade disappointing for my money. Lumped on for Golden Jacket, fancied her very strongly but she let me down. See she's up against my Swabys Princess in the first round.

What are peoples thought on ash looking at his form not won a six bend race since last summer,
All at sheffield, know he's a tool over 8 bends but hes not  going to get a nice lead with speedie types,
I think this year regency very hot! Why westmead not running?, bowtime on under card no stay the trip at hove?

She has a chance at her best i think but even at the price was happy to look elsewhere, considered Capoley Ash but at the price and with heat 4 looking hot enough decided against him too.

Went for Ballymac Cryan as off a level start i think he could go well clear with his early and middle over this trip and he may just last home a bit like He Went Whoosh the other year.

Portavoe Lass just looked overpriced to me, only just finished behind Balmi Blue and Blonde Fletch and the price discrepency between those runners looked too big.

Airforce NY is obviosuly very fast but that tendency to only want to pass on the rails means its going to have to hit the bends and the right time or its a case of cover your eyes and hope.
I do like Romeo Patrol- not sure what happened on sunday but prior to that its gone consistently well, with decent speed round bends 1-2 and stays well- not something you could say of Ballymac cryan on last weeks evidence

Blonde Fletch will stay better when fitter. When the dog is well he seems to trap fast, so judging by last week he's bouncing.

Would chance Swift Signal at bigger prices ew to sneak thro to the final and benefit from trouble- although its pretty trouble prone itself!

29.90 over 515 ain't too shabby for capoley , he stays ,he's fresh , it's a tricky heat but think he will cope

Big plugs for Newyork but got my doubts, sorry to his army of supporters. That race he flopped in was only 605m Pboro and unless he's raced over further in Ireland, that's as far as he's gone? As well as rails problem, possible stamina doubts, as with Cryan. Hear what youre saying PF but beaten by Swabys on merit recently and i've had a bit of her at 25/1 each-way. Yes, would consider Portavoe and Signal, both each-way, at the prices.

Capoley and Capel may just lack the speed to win a Regency in my book. Looking at 2 others to go with Swabys against the field but waiting for slightly bigger prices. Will post later, not that anyone will be holding their breath! Silly

gents - capoley ash did a 41.90 trial over the wimbledon st leger distance before the juvenile night at wimbledon, also second in the st leger itself, i genuinely think the dogs early is underated, i was there juvenile he blasted out the boxes, did 28.79 first lap and left a big impression on me, the stiffest 6 bend course and distance about, in my eyes, honestly think he is a huge huge runner here.

Ive backed Express Trend at 20/1 and a few quid e/w on Fabulous Shanty at 100/1 which I reckon is too big for a dog that runs Hove consistently well and may keep sneaking through.

Well, that'll teach me to dither. While waiting for others to price up and Fletch to get a shade bigger, he was clipped in! Had to have some of the 7s now. Logic now being, if he continues to break like last time and expected to stay on slightly better, will be hard to beat. The end-time was there too, imo. Yes Danny, respect Balmi but he must have been 33s in running against Fletch last time and only got up coz Fletch ran out of steam.

My other play, apart from Swabys, is Romeo Patrol. He's a sub 35sec 575m Romford and 39.08sec dog 660m Sheffield. Obviously, he is very fast and 12/1 seems a silly price to me.

Good luck everyone! Happy

Portavoe Lass was too big at 50's, coming forward out of season the timing of this competition should see her progress well for fitness,

bit of a limp run in behind Balmi and Fletch for me, but i expect her to come on from that tonight and remember when she idled for 8 bends at romford infront of a strong field, she has talent but a bit of a brain to go with it...Plain

woodmanchester, i cant have fletch, but wish u good luck! i think balmi blue is gona be a machine over these longer distances, yes fletch did tire but balmi ran well done a nice time (i was there last week, watching my dog express destiny) i was impressed with balmi blue, more to come, still its all opinions mate, be lucky

i also like portavoe lass 4/1 is nice! and bower hawk 7/1 is too big!
