Don't suppose it made the news over there, a dozen greyhounds found dead here yesterday in an old quarry, all shot in the head, all young, theory is they failed to make trial times to race, hopefully the culprits will be punished severely

i spent 2 grand keeping a dog at kennells till it passed away at 11, he would kill anything that dog no way it could have been a pet, still he had a great life raced till he was nearly 7 and enjoyed retirement

Regardless of the limited welfare protection for greyhounds in Ireland and their needless destruction - EU grants remain available for farmers who wish to further over breed greyhounds under the Farms Diversification Scheme - which would result in EU member states contributing financially and subsidising the breeding and export of greyhounds

that was last years story yorky, turned out the 30,000 over bred greyhound pups was actually 3,000. 13000 bred for 10000 places as i understood it. No farmer here would put a bullet in the head of a sheep or cow. Not at 300-900 euros anyway Laugh

its been going on for years back in the 70s my dad and his m8 would go over to ireland in a tranny buy a job lot of 20 dogs for a 100 quid, sell em back here at local track and make 4 to 500 hundred profit, my dad improved most by yards as they were in a right state when he got em

my first memory was being in back of a bedford van with the greyhounds aged about 3, bouncing about with my dad and his m8 infront going down to trials i never did grade, lol, but once got covered in blood when a bitch went into season on way back home, dont think even a boil wash got that out of my knitted jumper

i think most non performers are killed humanely and incinerated over here, the chinese thing last year was frowned upon initially because we all know they eat them
