Its not really an answerable question tbh Silverman.

id be inclined to go with BB like you but whos to say we're right or wrong & we could obviously
be giving great dogs from the past nowhere near the recognision they deserve

It has to be Bob, an absolutely phenomenal greyhound the likes of which we'll never see again. Of the greats that I have seen live SomePicture would be my runner up. Slippy Blue gets the bronze medal Laugh

a guy that has seen a lot, Dave Vaas also says Yellow Printer... he must have been some kind of aero... i havent seen races i like more than those of Scurlogue Champ, and the Hawk was awesome, but having read what was asked of Mick The Miller (huge number of races over many distances and tracks), and what he acheived, its tough to believe one better than him?

so already in about ten different replies we have about 6 differing opinions, i have to admit with silverman though bob was an icon an absolute machine

had a lot of fun watching the hawk though, it was the way he did it which made him a great deffo top 5 in my book

Interesting opinions.  I'm a great fan of Myrtown, (the only time he ever trapped in front he broke Monalee Champions 550 yard record at White City).  When Westpark Mustard was trying to break the record for the most number of consecutive wins, she was one to watch but when all's said and done it has to be Scurlogue Champ.  Never seen one like him before and we never will see one like him again, (sadly).  Ballyregan Bob was a great dog, no doubt, but I fancy Dolores Rocket would have beat him.

My pick would be Pigalle Wonder although I often think that the achievement of Roxholme Girl by winning both the Select stakes and the TV trophy has never been given the credit it deserved. Surely this will never be done again.

I remember "Spectre II" won the TV Trophy, at 18 months of age, then ran-up in the Derby Final behind his litter brother "Tric-Trac".

Forward King was another great member of the litter saw him win the St Leger at Wembley. Seem to remember him escaping as a pup and running loose on the yorkshire dales for weeks.

Eastmead:  Yes spot-on.  I've found a small article below that might interest you:

Forward Flash was also in the litter and, but for injury, might well have been the best of them all. In the few months of 1966 in which he did race, he won the Juvenile Stakes at Wembley, the Manchester Cup at White City, Manchester, and the Mackeson Cup at Walthamstow with further great things expected of him.

The litter, of five dogs and four bitches, was by Crazy Parachute out of Supreme Witch. The dam, Witching Grand, was one of a litter that included Mile Bush Pride, whelped in 1956 and who won the English Derby in 1959.

Forward King, the other excellent member of Leo Stack’s wonderful litter, won the St Leger and the Scottish St Leger, the only dog ever to have done so. He also won the Wembley Gold Cup and the Stewards’ Cup and, in 70 top class open events, won half of them. Yet he might never have reached a race track at all. When he was 12 months old, he escaped from his kennels and lived wild on the Yorkshire moors for many weeks before being recaptured!

On what i have seen and what he achieved Westmead Hawk would be right up there but in my opinion the best i have ever seen was Premier Fantasy.

He won the National Puppy Stake coming from off the pace in the semi final and final, clocking times of 28.45 (1/4 final), 28.59 (1/2 final) and 28.58 (final). That years National Puppy Stake included Droopys Scholes (English Derby winner), Geldrops Touch (English and Irish Derby Finalist), Droopys Cahill (Puppy Derby winner), Pollardstown Rex (Ted Hegarty's dog who unfortunately broke down) and others such as Velvet Rebel, Fat Budgie, Jack Spark, Side Walk and First Whip. It was a brilliant competition and from the 1/4 final onwards Premier Fantasy simply destroyed the field.

He then returned for the Easter Cup (then run over 525y) and while beaten by Jewel Nikita in round 1 when in bad need of the run he showed he had learned to trap better and was showing unbelievable early pace. He won his 2nd round in 28.39 off a 1.96 sectional, and won his semi final in 28.32 off a 1.94 sectional. In the final he went off 4/9 Fav and again did a 1.94 split. He left brilliant early pace dogs like Shantobar, First Charter (led previous years Derby Final) and Indian Ruler behind making them look paceless to the bend. Indian Ruler himself had almost back run Dalcash Black a few weeks previous over 350y and Dalcash was probably the best sprinter in Ireland at the time. He destroyed them for pace and went a mile clear. Awesome Impact who later that year won the Ladbroke 600 tried to close but couldn't get anywhere near him and he stopped the clock in a brilliant 28.08

He was installed either 7/2 or 4/1 favourite for the Irish Derby afterwards

He then went to Wimbledon and had won every round until tragedy struck in bthe semi final. I myself and the vast majority who saw this brilliant dog run are in no doubt he was on his way to winning the Derby and i have no doubt he would of smashed the track record in the process.

The reason i put him up is because i believe that was a great few years for Irish Greyhound racing and we had some unbelievable good dogs but he just destroyed them.

Forget even Brett Lee.
Zoom Top was the best greyhound ever to race in Australia.
She was even inducted into the american hall of fame for her outstanding achievments

silverman i saw jet control run at sheff about 78/79  if my memory serves me right he won his heas and semis in either the harry holmes or steel city cup and got beat by a dog also from the midlands called stretch fabric, i think jet was a big fawn dog if i remember correctly, he beat 1 of the best dogs i ever saw in those heats as well the great dog desert pilot, greyhound racing was brilliant back then
