Ladell Betts is another heavy runner for the team, who made up for an injured Portis back in the '06 season. If pushed to their max, the running backs belonging to the Redskins have great playoff potential. Santana Moss will continue to shine out on the field, running routes almost unequaled in the NFL. Moss's ability to change the winds of a game runs nearly unprecedented, despite his relatively smaller size. Due to this being common knowledge, Moss typically finds himself with double coverage. Injuries keep the Skins in a serious prone position, as seen with Malcolm Kelly. Kelly had a ruined 2008 season, but his return to practices in the off season showed a vast improvement in his abilities. Devin Thomas continues to step up his game, and should provide for a highly impressive performance over this season. Chris Samuels, six time Pro Bowler, will bring his prestige back to the line for the Skins, backed on the right by either Jon Jansen or Stephon Heyer. Heyer had come close to claiming the right tackle position, but Jansen took back over when Heyer was injured. Both players are better at different tasks, making for a solid line that can handle different variables according to the play styles of different teams. The Defensive Line is the one part of the team that is changing drastically. Jason Taylor, one of the Skins strongest defensive ends, left the team to the free agency pool, but Albert Haynesworth from the Titans should more than make up for the loss. Haynesworth brings a commanding presence to the field, as he stands at 6'6" and over 300 pounds. Draftee Brian Orakpo will also be joining the defending line, and he could perhaps start a promising career.
