For me, I would be reluctant to back the dogs at the head of the market at those skinny prices. I think you need to be really sure the dog is a SUPERSTAR to go in at those odds (a bit like College Causeway the year he won the Irish Derby - we all knew what he could do from the year before)

Paddy & Greg etc are all still youngsters and I personally don't know them well enough.

JFK is hyped up and priced up.

Oscar is a bit of value relative to these as there wasn't much between him and Rayvin Giovanni

Blue Artisan still represents a little value. So does Makeshift

I'd say the value has to be Farloe Force. IMO he is a dog with plenty of improvement in him - something he has already shown in his second run in Shawfield. I was really impressed with him the first tome I saw him in Shelbourne.

A crazy bet would be Westmead Grant (his brother Bolt is worth considering too) he's running well in Shawfield and might yetshow the ability he showed at as a puppy and hinted at now and then last year. (his first round win in Ir Derby and his effort against Farley Turbo on final night in particular) he's still only 3&1/2 and some would argue he's not left everything on the track so he's still fresh[smiley:crazy] you never know!

I'd almost forgotten their half brother Maldini who is still good value. I think he's another dog with some improvemnt to make but his form this spring isn't bad and is a hard dog to keep out of the first 3.

Just had my second bet; 1/2 point each way Ten Large Down 100/1 with the sponsors. Just think the 100s is too big about last years' Juvenile winner as he seems to going alright and if he wins the Blue Riband wil sulrey shorten. B364 are going 150s but I don't have an account and am not going to open one just to get restricted. be interesting to see how she seeds TLD after last years business[;)]

Dolores Ruth has decided to add Razldazl George to her Williamhill.com English Derby team following his excellent performance in the final of the Easter Cup at Shelbourne on Saturday night.

Originally George was being aimed at the Hegarty 600 but his fine performance on Saturday night has earned the son of Kinloch Brae and Razldazl Pearl to the Wimbledon team. Other members of the raiding party are Razldazl Jayfkay and Razldazl Lord. The dogs will all be given trials around the Plough Lane circuit on Saturday night.

What at one stage had looked like a pretty weak numerical challenge for the Williamhill.com English Derby has taken on an entirely different look with the news that Conor Fahy will be bringing over a team of at least five dogs for the event.

It will be the first time for young Fahy, who has held a training licence for just over a year, to have runners outside the country.

The five dogs penned in for the trip at present are Tyrurs Domingo, Carey, O Gorman, Gasco and Lohan while Fahy will also bring over the highly rated puppy Tyrur Bobby Jo for the unraced competition.

Said owner PJ Fahy yesterday: “I have thought long and hard about it and decided that there are only a few Derbys in the year, so why not have a go. There isn’t much for them here at that stage and we have McGuigan and Big Mike for the Irish Derby. The dogs will go over on the ferry on Tuesday night and will have their trials on Wednesday morning.

“Lohan was added in to the team as he appears to be in great form. He has had a lot of injury problems but he has the pace to beat anything, so we are giving him his chance”.

When: 04 May 11 19:06
Paul Hennessy has confirmed that he is likely to have a team of two runners for the Williamhill.com English Derby which commences next week.

Barefoot Bullet is a definite starter and it is increasingly likely that he will be joined by Tranquil Time which will have a trial this morning. The trial was due to take place yesterday but a mechanical failure ruled it out.

However Hennessy said: “He ran Wimbledon well last year and he seems to have come right. I will give him a sprint trial in the morning and maybe even a race at Shelbourne on Saturday. He will then head over with Barefoot Bullet next week. Our team will be based as usual with Brian Clemenson”.

The Gowran trainer is particularly keen on Barefoot Bullet’s prospects. “We decided to aim the dog at the English Derby as he ran Wimbledon so well last year when he was unlucky to be knocked out in the quarter finals when one of the favourites to win out.

“We deliberately didn’t run him since he ran in the Irish Derby final. Bryan and Kathleen (Murphy) were anxious to have a serious crack at the English Derby so we are going there with a fresh dog and I was delighted with his 18.70 sprint trial at Shelbourne a few weeks ago”.

Hennessy had also intended running Mt Leinster Hill in the Derby but he disappointed in his trial around Wimbledon on Saturday and that plan was scrapped.

SF have to say I quite like the look of Kerrydale and at those prices you must be pretty happy!

Looks like he has done a nice couple of trials round SP in preparation. Do you know if he was injured in last race and thats why he has been off track for so long?

He ran so poor at Newcastle im hoping something was amiss, worried about the long lay off but he's had plenty of trials and they have been godd trials so hopefully he takes to Wimbledon and can show what a good dog he is
