Big Jim in a bunker.(!)... TB you can rest assured the forum bok still works pretty well.
By:
Nothing coming to soften this up so they can get this as tough as they like. Snap the hand off for anything in double digits?
By:
Agree. -10 may well win this
By:
I'd go between 6-8 going from what we've seen so far.
By:
Yeah, if the tour want to really punish them for last week's low scoring there might not be many under par.
By:
Hope so. Love a good war of attrition.
By:
Do you like it as much as crack though SH?

my 2 pretty much bringing up the rear
surprised by Leish though tbh |
By:
Need a Henley place to restock. |
By:
stinker of a day for the Aussies
By:
Horrible day for most. I think this is tougher than anyone expected. This is US Open territory by the look of it. Big tone on track though

Brian Harman might have been on a winning score after 2 holes.
By:
this is more like it - can't wait for the w/e now

By:
Your move, Winged Foot. Even in the more brutal US Opens you expect to see a few more under par than this on day 1.
By:
On Henley and cruising -2 thru 10.
4 holes later he's 3 over. This could be won with par. |
By:
It't not out of the question. If it was the USGA I'd say this would be an over par winning score, I fear the tour might have mercy on them over the weekend.
By:
I've stuck to my regular guys this week so would prefer no one to mention the current leader.
By:
I'll second that TB...
By:
This might be just the sort of thing guys like Rory or Hideki have been waiting for, they're never going to make 30 birdie putts in a tourney like last week but their ball striking counts for much more here.
By:
you might be right TB, but I'd hate to see Hikedi standing over a 4 fter on these speedy greens
By:
Rory 6/1??? AND sky sports are not allowed to show jim (it would seem)
Incredible non-scenes, Jeff. |

these greens are evil

I wonder how far back you'd have to go for a 2 under leading day 1?
By:
Not sure what I was expecting but it wasn't this. Didn't think there were many courses left that wouldn't get obliterated. Medinah is supposedly a tough course and JT won with -25 last year.
By:
There's not extreme weather and they're not dealing with loads of water or other hazards, so this is a blueprint for what is possible with a setup if you have dry enough conditions to get the course where you want it.
By:
Is it also a case of the unknown for a lot of the players?
By:
What do you expect from the USGA this year TB? Winged Foot is infamous and if you total the winning scores from the last 6 years, the winners are a combined -46. Revenge of the USGA this year (weather permitting)?
By:
It's all about the weather but you'd hope that after maybe going a bit too easy on them last year at Pebble they'd want to get it as tough as they can, especially if they're watching this. They won't want to be upstaged by a tour event a few weeks before so whatever the winning score here is you'd imagine they'll be targeting something higher. Just need to to stay dry.
By:
Not often your two main bets are -1 and evens and you're happy but I'll take that from Mac and Hubby.
By:
Holing 96 feet worth of putts on your last 3 holes will work Hideki.
By:
Cheeky 66 footer to finish for Hideki.
By:
How far back are you out of it round here?
Plus 3 not even so bad, even par excellent. Dont make easier please. |
By:
As long as they don't make it easier I'm thinking +3 as the cutoff, old school US Opens you could never go too far back after the first round. Question is whether the tour takes mercy on them. Hopefully Dusty's showing means they won't but you just can't trust them not to.

2 Outsiders For Ya On Day 2, LONG - THOMPSON .
By:
so is it a case now, with players being so damn good tee to green that the greens are the only possible way to stop em scoring?
have rain covers for greens not been invented yet akin to what u see at wimbledon to keep them firm? or am i talking sh!te and theres a reason that wouldn't be feasable? |
By:
Interesting idea System...
What with global warming and weather becoming increasingly erratic,if you could pitch it to the right people you could become a wealthy chap. Forget the punting. ![]() ![]() |

Ancer and Hovland a spot of value for me, bit more of DJ and Hughes too thanks.
Hugely disappointing finish from Jt.cant catch him at all the now. Shocker on 18.shocker. No confidence Hideki backs up yesterday, almost a lay for me... |
