$15,000,000 f*ckin MILLION to the winner !!!!!
Total combined purses for 1996 season on PGA Tour (year Tiger Woods turned professional): $65.9M Total combined FedExCup bonus payout this week: $70M This is inline with the increasing value of sports franchises. It's common knowledge, from players and caddies, the effect Tiger has had on purses. He single handedly elevated the game, not just in the USA. Similar to Arnie in the 60's, where IMG leveraged his marketability. The PGA are due to introduce a “Tiger Tax” on every winners payout next year, as he’s paying these guys from his years of influence. ![]() |

Koepka to clean up here. 11/2 is a gift, probably be 2/11 come Sunday morning. The guy knows how to turn up for big events, even when he doesn't get a head start over 90% of the field.

THOMAS shoots 70 - RORY 66....only one behind after Rd1.
Despite the unconventional beginning to this finale, the simplified setup will be enormously easier for fans, broadcasters and players to understand. The players in the back of the pack have very little chance to contend - take every PGA Tour winner this decade and examine his position after Rd1. - of the 432 regular stroke play events since 2010, only only 15 – less than 3.5% – were eight or more shots back after the first round. The win percentage by players at a specified 18-hole deficit or further back reads like this: 10 shots – 0.5% 9 shots – 1.4% 8 shots – 3.5% 7 shots – 7.9% 6 shots – 15.3% 5 shots – 25.0% 4 shots – 40.0% The largest deficit faced by any winner was eight shots by Matthew Wolff after the second round of the 3M Open this season. T1 Xander Schauffele -10 64 7:20 pm T1 Brooks Koepka -10 67 7:20 pm T1 Justin Thomas -10 70 7:10 pm 4th Rory McIlroy -9 66 7:10 pm T5 Matt Kuchar -8 66 7:00 pm T5 Patrick Cantlay -8 70 7:00 pm 7th Hideki Matsuyama -7 66 6:50 pm T8 Paul Casey -6 66 6:50 pm T8 Jon Rahm -6 68 6:40 pm T8 Patrick Reed -6 70 6:40 pm T11 Adam Scott -5 68 6:30 pm T11 Gary Woodland -5 68 6:30 pm |

Once you get to a three shots deficit, the percentage goes over 50 (55.8%), basically meaning four shots is the cut-off point of it making any difference.

Highest percentage of rounds at 67 or lower this season, minimum 30 rounds played:
1. Morikawa 39% 2. Wolff 31% 3. Thomas 28% 4. Cantlay 27% …... 13th. Im 23.7% |

By:
Schauffele has birdied or eagled 24.7% of his career holes played at East Lake. Since 2007, only Tiger, Stenson and Villegas have a higher percentage.

Sungjae Im is the only rookie in the field this week and should earn Rookie of the Year honours over Cameron Champ. Im made a ridiculous 35 starts this year and racked up 7 T10s.

Schauffele - a beast at East Lake with victory on his debut in 2017, he finished T7 in his title defense and owns a scoring average of 67.88.
Koepka - Solo sixth at East Lake in 2017 is his only T15 in three tries. Matsuyama - a threat with T5's at East Lake in 2016 and 2018. Casey - Four T5's at East Lake. Reed - his 6th consecutive appearance in the TOUR Championship and still chasing his first T10. Scott - Top 10s in last two tries at East Lake (2014, 2016). Woodland - focusing on being at home for the birth of his twin daughters. The FedEx Cup 'Starting Strokes' scoring system could be responsible for the end of a nine-year drought during which the top seed entering the TOUR Championship has failed to win the FedEx Cup. Five of the last six FedEx Cup champions arrived as the 2-seed, including defending champ Justin Rose. This year's field is populated by seven golfers who started the three-event Playoffs outside the top 30 in FedEx Cup points. The lowest opening seed to qualify is Abraham Ancer. He started THE NORTHERN TRUST seeded 67th and parlayed it with a runner-up finish at Liberty National into debuts in the TOUR Championship and the Presidents Cup. Ancer, who is now seeded 10th, also is one of four PGA TOUR non-winners in the field. Tommy Fleetwood (22nd), rookie Sungjae Im (24th) and Jason Kokrak (30th) are the others. The highest opening seed who failed to advance to East Lake was Shane Lowry. He started 20th and finished 33rd after going a respective T52-T48 in the first two events. He withdrew early from a pair of commitments late in the regular season, but, and of course, his consolation prize is the 'Clara' Jug. ![]() |

In addition to the richest prize in the history of the PGA TOUR, the FedExCup champion also will receive a five-year membership exemption. By qualifying for the tournament, all 30 in the field are exempt into the Masters, the US Open and The OPEN Championship, as well as the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions and WGC-Mexico Championship next season.

He's 4-for-6 converting 54-hole leads in his PGA Tour career, but has won each of the last 4 instances ('18 US Open, '18 PGA, '18 CJ Cup, '19 PGA). Rory has 8 PGA Tour wins when trailing after 54 holes, most of any player since the beginning of the 2010 season. Starts final round 1 behind Brooks. |
