Tony seems to be a pretty good wind player so if it stays breezy may suit him this week, if he could pick up a relatively low-key event like this it would be a huge boost.
I know what you mean about strike rates, I think we have to adjust our expectations a bit of what guys should be winning, you look at the quality of the guys towards the top of the ranking and you think they should all be winning 4 or 5 times a year and be racking up the majors, but there just aren't enough trophies to go around. |

Speith can drive you crazy !!
25/1 to be 1st round leader. and 14/1 to be overall winner. He could have been -8 , except he posts a bogey and double bogey !!!!! Hoping he continues his improvement though, over next 3,rounds. |

hard to win on the pga tour. rahm a good example, approx 1 in 10 on euro tour but that goes to about 1 in 23 on pga tour, I believe.
that's why I'd urge caution over the Koepka will dominate for the next ten years theories. we've all seen golfers get hot, and they're all capable. it's whether you can sustain it, that's the real question. if Koepka can get to ten majors plus then fair play. but i'll believe it when I see it. I suspect Koepka is a bit better than the likes of rahm and Thomas (at the moment) but he's older than they are and no reason why they can't go on similar runs in the majors in the future, or someone else, like Cameron champ, or someone we've not even seen yet. |

Looks to me like Tony and Jordan are sitting pretty now, looks properly windy now so could be some big scores - Frankie's had some fun at the first. Although if Slovakia's finest can keep things going I won't complain.

dru love taking advantage of a rare pga tour invite

Definitely think the value of any PGA tour win has increased a lot with the strength in depth we see now. Used to be the big names would take for granted a bunch of regular tour wins and really measure themselves by the majors but now, while the majors will always mean more, anyone with multiple wins anywhere can consider things to be going pretty damn well. Probably a big part of the reason you see more big names at events like this they might previously have skipped, got to give yourself as many opportunities as possible to challenge for trophies.

Dru not be much cop as a golfer but he at least earns his invites with the thousands of fans he brings in through the gates.
By:
Apart from family & friends I doubt Dru Love brings more than a dozen fans through the gates.
By:
Fourth start of the season for Dru despite not even getting to the final stage of Web.com q-school, so I can only assume he keeps getting invites because of his dazzling charisma and massive fan appeal.

Nice start for Rory.......................

Was hoping everyone would stay quiet...

be interesting to see how Spieth will get on later.
I have a horrible feeling he'll go backwards. ![]() |

don't understand why they show the pga seniors later.
when they show the premier league, on the main channels, do they take it off when there's a womens or old mans match on and put that on instead? makes no sense to me. no wonder golf is getting less and less popular. |
By:
Disappointed Rory didn't kick on there, but can't be easy with the weight of a nation on his shoulders. Hoping for it to blow again this afternoon to keep the leaderboard nice and tight.

a real blitzkrieg at the 17th there.
By:
Looks like Rahmbo didn't want to risk accidentally making the cut.

By:
Casey WD?
By:
Haven't watched any of this yet, but Blixt leading? must be a long time since you can say that!
By:
Had a couple of brief sighting of him the last couple of months but sadly didn't have him even under consideration despite some reasonable trips round here.
By:
Spieth hitting it garbage- when has this ever happened before.
wonder if someone makes the cut can they have a good weekend- seems to be windy all week, and a trend of the later starters struggling and the early guys putting in a score |
By:
lol Jordan
By:
it's official- Spieth is rather good at putting.

Dufner, Blixt and Saba challenging - feels like we've gone back in time
By:
Jordan too mentally fragile at the moment. great putt at the 12th, horrible iron shot in the 13th.
I think once his iron game comes though he can start winning again as the short game is now there. |
By:
Surely big Tone isn't going to have many better chances to add to his 1 victory - Duf can't putt the shorties, Blixt and saba can they get over the line again after a while without a win? and Spieth- well, what are we going to get from him over the w/e? Maybe old Jimbo might lurk long enough and fall over the line. Yeah, he isn't far off now LR
By:
Jordan just missed a short one.
yeah finau will win this. nothing to beat. fuming that I didn't back him at the start when debating to do so. sums up my year, or perhaps my life. ****g hate betting on golf now. going to take a break from here for a bit. |
By:
Great to see Jordan putting those long ones !
If only he can get his T to green act together he will win this. He's miles above these in ability and what he's achieved. C'mon Jordan - blitz this course over the week end ![]() |
By:
50 feet of putts in Jordan's first two holes. Ominous.
By:
Course showing enough teeth to keep it very interesting at the top.
By:
another bomb for Jordan
By:
CT really is becoming the ultimate short track specialist. Wouldn't put it past him here.
By:
his rise up the leaderboard is giving me RBC Heritage ptsd
![]() |
By:
If the price is juicy enough I may have to take on dufman - still not expecting his shorties to go in
By:
CT is a funny one. Last year he was Mr Consistency but couldn't find the win, this year been very poor other than the win. Dufman's putting actually looks really solid, but I guess once the pressure piles on...

Travesty if Pan beats big Tone to 2 wins

The way Big T grinds to a halt within sight of the lead it would not surprise me.

All grinding to a halt now.
