The forum BBC lovers should be out in force this week.

What's to not like?No Ewan Murray, no ads, no messages all over the screen about what's on later.Even the worst BBC coverage is better than the best Sky offers.

it really isnt, u must be living in the matrix!

how many bbc viewers will know about red button

bbc2 HD

1115pm too 1215pm

that's it

Golf channel on dodgy box here, feature group about to start..

the good ole dodgy boxes, remember the old cable boxes, they tell me they were good

ken not on the course.

Cringeworthy so far, and we're only 10 minutes in. They'd have been better getting Lineker and Shearer to do the job.

Shambles.As expected.

Feels more like "Shells Wonderful World of Golf" than a live major.

not watching what's the main prob

No HD and the BBC dinosaurs.

No chat just shots a plus though.

At least 5 minutes behind the score board.Might as well be on Teletext.

Sadly, reports suggesting that the BBC commentary team would not be on duty this week proved to be unfounded

do you think PGA would of given bbc the contract if they knew it was on the red button

When you have Alliss in Blunderland you know it's not good.

All the commentators of yesteryear, Carpenter,Coleman, O'Sullevan, Walker, Maskell etc knew when to step down. But not him.

I like Alliss and co, delighted its on beeb.

The blind leading the fu#king blind.

sky channel 980 if you dont want to go through the red button on bbc1

this is brutal, commentators reporting as though they've been kidnapped and forced out there against their will

thanks for the 980 info that helps a little

is it me or is this just so flat

commentators not getting told who is coming up on camera

and found wanting for knowledge

i can imagine them fuming more than us

The BBC don't do sport.................what do people expect.........sooner it gets shut down, the better..............

does anyone know if the BBC just got the event for this year as a trial or have they signed a multi year deal?

feels like a timeshare

You want BBC to lose contract, but you can't get out

Had no idea about any of this. I guess I have the BBC to blame for my inability to find any streaming of the event last night (in China right now). The leaderboards I was following were way behind as well. Anyone know where to find any semblance of early starter coverage for day 2? Or a leaderboard that isn't caught in a time warp? Thanks.

This one was ahead of the BBC .

Hi Chose n,

Flashscore was pretty good all day yesterday and it was ahead of most shots on BBC Red Button for most of the day, it has a tendency to freeze but its red birdy/bogey warning will catch your eye if you are doing something else besides.

thx

ffs walofs

comments in daily mail are brutal

Is there a way you get more than a handful of players on screen?

I thought it was my iPad

If your using a separate monitor for the scores you can set it to portrait and get down to Westwood with out shrinking the text much, but if you can't swivel your monitor don't blame me for your stiff neck tomorrow

golfing major

rory tees off 1325
bbc coverage starts red button 1815

what kind of contract did the sign

Is the Twitter feed on earlier ?

Can those adverts for the highlights and the Omega watch which won't be coming my way be removed Trebor ?

I can only get down to Matsy MW,.

a major and we're having to search internet far an wide for scoring

you couldn't make it up

I can't get rid of the Highlights one, but in Advast Browser the rest are not there, Think Chrome normally stops them, but not this time it seems.

Cheers.

It just confirms there are 3 majors and a fair few big tournament of which this is one.

we can test diff websites

see who posts scores fastest

First scores just come up, didn't think it started til 1.30

Tanihara birdie just came up on mine.Trouble is posts don't appear straight away.

1220 first tee off

exchange betting 3 ball t

flash site good

flash just showed taniharra birdie at 1248

so other site 4 mins ahead

we,re the beeb given this as a sweetner for standing aside for the open or did sky take their eye off the ball, would have been a good one for BT  to dip their golf toe in the water

BBC must of got it on the cheap as no one had it as recently as a month ago.F$ck knows what Sky were playing at.

IMG deal with the PGA media rights and the word is they wanted to jack up the prices and Sky walked away.  Would have thought an agreement could've been reached as there's no way the BBC are paying as much as Sky would have, and Sky should really have paid a bit more to preserve their major monopoly, seems like things are falling apart for them a bit.

There's the usual flannel about the PGA wanting it on free to air to spread the game etc but I'm not sure some grainy red button footage commentated on by a bunch of bored old men is going to substantially grow the game or their brand.

could be lowest watched major uk in recent times

Exactly.  No point going free to air if the coverage is unwatchable.  If I had no financial interest I wouldn't have lasted 10 minutes.

I have no financial interest because it's unwatchable, will be the first major I won't even bother with this weekend , sad times

I have quite enjoyed the BBC's coverage - Alliss, no adverts or hype, just watching the golf.

However, they said last night you would be able to watch featured groups from 1.30pm online and now I can't find it anywhere. Anyone know the link?

https://twitter.com/i/live/887341377737998336

Eilidh Barbour tweeted it would be available on the website but no sign of it.  Which shows they have the rights to the featured groups but just can't be bothered.  It's pathetic really.

worse because bbc has rights cant watch it on web

Think it is on iplayer, but not yet?

no idea why the pga of america did this to themselves but its hilarious, they obv did no research into the bbc

alot of mugs in this thread very inexperienced in bbc coverage thinking it would be goat

You'd think in giving them the coverage for what must've been a knock down price they'd at least want some assurances it'd actually be broadcast.

youtube better coverage than bbc

shame on the bbc for not catering for 16 golf bettors on betfair with the time to watch wall to wall coverage of a tourney

Thanks for the earlier links, guys.

BC cannot even be bothered to show hardly any of it.

No wonder its the 4th major.

Any more coverage like this and it wont feel like a major anymore.

Once the coverage started i enjoyed it. A golf shot followed by another golf shot followed by.. you get the picture. Very few interviews or needless analysis. It appeared to be world feed rather than network so we got more shots from a greater range of players.

https://www.facebook.com/GiveMeSport/

perfect stream for those interested

thread should be BBC lovers forced to view it

Alliss might be surprised in a few hours to see Woodland still on the course.

commentary and coverage is shocking but feel a little for the commentators they are obviously stuck in a studio probably in london, clearly have no idea who or what is coming next plus no on course commentators to cover the shots

poor old peter is showing his age mistakes galore, its the usga who do the us open

maureen saying putting has improved lots, last week pga tour radio said he was 181st in strokes gained putting i know who i will believe

who

live coverage finally on bbc

weather warning - play suspended

Imagine Peter covering a Day, Dustin & Rose 3 ball

Alliss gets more wrong than right ,takes some doing.

frames, you know your stuff but obviously have an axe to grind regarding BBC.  For heavens sake TV golf has never or ever will be shown for the greedy golf punter!  Alliss has forgotten more about golf than I will ever know.  YES he does make ricks in his bumbling, rambling way. Just listen to the risque perspicacious tongue in cheek jibes!  Well I like 'em anyway.  Much prefer this to the sermon from the sanctimonious Ewan Murray or the gentleman who invented golf, namely Mr Mark Roe.

I miss the old boy commentator that always makes me laugh, should remember his name really but can't, he always does the British Open.
Good to see Rishi back on our screens though.

Working off the US feed with no prompting has exposed Aliss in particular as a bluffer who simply doesn't follow golf this century and doesn't recognise most of the world's top 50.  God knows why the BBC simply didn't use the US commentary

Ya agree, great to see Rishi back on our screens.Has real in depth knowledge of every sport and has an excellent interviewing technique.

Agreed, Rishi eems like a humble/nice chap too, the people he's interviewing always seem to not mind talking to him (other than Ryan Moore......the jockey obviously)

who is Justin Thompson??

drug cheat from the relay

My 9 year old lad watch 10 mins of golf with me last night and then said "what years this one from dad"

He is 87 mate.................................

Although I am a sky lover I liked the bbc coverage obv the main winner it has over sky is no advert breaks I have watched many a sky golf tourny and especially on the final round the advert breaks seem to be every 3 minutes

SUPPOSE if we were gredy I,d have sky for the 1st 2 days and bbc for the sat, sun, thought the weekend coverage was excellent

First time in a long long time agreed with Bruce Millington on anything. But he nailed the BBc coverage fairly well.As expected by many on here, myself very much included.
Was appalling!

I enjoyed the coverage.

I enjoyed the coverage.

I enjoyed the coverage.

Are Peter, Ken & Maureen sharing a PC?

No, my name is James!

Mark James???

Child prodigy. Youthful brat. Huge promise as young pro. Under achiever. Failed Ryder Cup Captain. Excellent gardener. Now at the bottom of the pile, the lowest of the low a BBC golf pundit.

Saxon if you enjoyed the coverage mate, well done,at least they have pleased ONE Taxpayer in many many millions.FFS mate it was horrendous.
